1 D oth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

¿No clama la sabiduría, Y da su voz la inteligencia?

2 S he standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

En las alturas junto al camino, A las encrucijadas de las veredas se para;

3 S he crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

Junto a las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, En el umbral de las puertas da voces:

4 U nto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

Oh hombres, a vosotros clamo; Dirijo mi voz a los hijos de los hombres.

5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

Aprended, oh simples, discreción; Y vosotros, necios, entrad en cordura.

6 H ear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

Escuchad, porque hablaré cosas excelentes, Y abriré mis labios para cosas rectas.

7 F or my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

Porque mi boca hablará verdad, Y mis labios abominan la impiedad.

8 A ll the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

Sinceras son todas las razones de mi boca; No hay en ellas cosa falsa ni tortuosa.

9 T hey are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

Todas ellas son rectas para el que entiende, Y razonables para los que han hallado sabiduría.

10 R eceive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

Recibid mi enseñanza, y no la plata; Y ciencia antes que el oro escogido.

11 F or wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

Porque mejor es la sabiduría que las piedras preciosas; Y todo cuanto se puede desear, no puede compararse con ella.

12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

Yo, la sabiduría, habito con la cordura, Y he hallado el conocimiento de los consejos.

13 T he fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

El temor de Jehová es aborrecer el mal; La soberbia y la arrogancia, el mal camino, Y la boca perversa, es lo que yo detesto.

14 C ounsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Conmigo está el consejo y el buen acierto; Yo soy la inteligencia; mío es el poder.

15 B y me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

Por mí reinan los reyes, Y los príncipes decretan lo que es justo.

16 B y me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Por mí gobiernan los príncipes, Y los magnates juzgan toda la tierra.

17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Yo amo a los que me aman, Y me hallan los que madrugan para buscarme.

18 R iches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

Las riquezas y la honra están conmigo; Riquezas duraderas, y justicia.

19 M y fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

Mejor es mi fruto que el oro, que el oro refinado; Y mi rédito mejor que la plata acrisolada.

20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

Por veredas de justicia camino, Por en medio de sendas de rectitud,

21 T hat I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

Para hacer que los que me aman obtengan su heredad, Y que yo llene sus arcas.

22 T he Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

Jehová me poseía en el principio, Ya de antiguo, antes de sus obras.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

Eternamente tuve el principado, desde el principio, Antes del comienzo de la tierra.

24 W hen there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Antes de los abismos fui engendrada; Antes que existiesen las fuentes de las muchas aguas.

25 B efore the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

Antes que los montes fuesen formados, Antes de los collados, ya había sido yo engendrada;

26 W hile as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

No había aún hecho la tierra, ni los campos, Ni los primeros elementos del mundo.

27 W hen he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

Cuando formaba los cielos, allí estaba yo; Cuando trazaba un círculo sobre la faz del abismo;

28 W hen he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

Cuando condensaba las nubes arriba, Cuando afianzaba las fuentes del abismo;

29 W hen he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Cuando ponía al mar su estatuto, Para que las aguas no traspasasen su mandato; Cuando establecía los fundamentos de la tierra,

30 T hen I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

Con él estaba yo ordenándolo todo, Y era su delicia de día en día, Teniendo solaz delante de él en todo tiempo.

31 R ejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Jugueteando en la parte habitable de su tierra; Y teniendo mis delicias con los hijos de los hombres.

32 N ow therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

Ahora, pues, hijos, oídme; Dichosos los que guardan mis caminos.

33 H ear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Atended mi consejo, para que seáis sabios; No lo menospreciéis.

34 B lessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

Dichoso el hombre que me escucha, Velando a mis puertas cada día, Aguardando a los postes de mis puertas.

35 F or whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.

Porque el que me halle, hallará la vida, Y alcanzará el favor de Jehová.

36 B ut he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Mas el que me pierde, se arruina a sí mismo; Todos los que me aborrecen aman la muerte.
