1 W e have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

Oh Dios, con nuestros oídos hemos oído, nuestros padres nos han contado, La obra que hiciste en sus días, en los tiempos antiguos.

2 H ow thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

Tú con tu mano echaste las naciones, y los plantaste a ellos; Afligiste a los pueblos, y los arrojaste.

3 F or they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

Porque no se apoderaron de la tierra por su espada, Ni su brazo los libró; Sino tu diestra, y tu brazo, y la luz de tu rostro, Porque les amabas.

4 T hou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

Eres tú, rey mío y Dios mío, Quien decretabas las victorias de Jacob.

5 T hrough thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

Contigo embestíamos a nuestros enemigos; En tu nombre hollábamos a nuestros adversarios.

6 F or I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

No estaba mi confianza en mi arco, Ni mi espada me hizo vencedor;

7 B ut thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

Pues tú mismo nos salvabas de nuestros enemigos, Y cubrías de vergüenza a los que nos aborrecían.

8 I n God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

En Dios nos gloriábamos todo el día, Celebrando para siempre tu nombre. Selah

9 B ut thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

Pero nos has desechado, y nos has hecho avergonzarnos, Y no sales con nuestros ejércitos.

10 T hou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

Nos hiciste retroceder delante del enemigo, Y nos saquean a su gusto los que nos aborrecen.

11 T hou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

Nos entregas como ovejas al matadero, Y nos has esparcido entre las naciones.

12 T hou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

Has vendido a tu pueblo de balde; No exigiste ningún precio.

13 T hou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

Nos pones por afrenta de nuestros vecinos, Por escarnio y por burla de los que nos rodean.

14 T hou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

Nos pusiste por proverbio entre las naciones; Todos al vernos menean la cabeza.

15 M y confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

Cada día mi vergüenza está delante de mí, Y la confusión cubre mi rostro,

16 F or the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

Por la voz del que me vitupera y deshonra, A la vista del enemigo y del vengativo.

17 A ll this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

Todo esto nos ha sobrevenido, y no nos habíamos olvidado de ti, Ni habíamos faltado a tu pacto.

18 O ur heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

No se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, Ni se han apartado de tus caminos nuestros pasos,

19 T hough thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

Para que nos quebrantases en el lugar de chacales, Y nos cubrieses con sombra de muerte.

20 I f we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

Si nos hubiésemos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, O alzado nuestras manos hacia un dios ajeno,

21 S hall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

¿No demandaría Dios esto? Porque él conoce los secretos del corazón.

22 Y ea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

Pero por tu causa nos matan cada día; Somos contados como ovejas para el matadero.

23 A wake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

Despierta; ¿por qué duermes, Señor? Despierta, no nos deseches para siempre.

24 W herefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

¿Por qué escondes tu rostro, Y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción, y de la opresión nuestra?

25 F or our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

Porque nuestra alma está hundida hasta el polvo, Y nuestro cuerpo está postrado hasta la tierra.

26 A rise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.

Levántate, ven en nuestra ayuda, Y rescátanos por tu amor.
