1 W oe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

¡Ay de ti, ciudad sanguinaria, toda llena de mentira y de rapiña, sin apartarte del pillaje!

2 T he noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

Chasquido de látigo, y fragor de ruedas, galopar de caballos, y saltar de carros;

3 T he horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

jinetes enhiestos, flamear de espadas, y refulgir de lanzas; multitud de heridos y montones de cadáveres; cadáveres sinfín, y en sus cadáveres tropezarán;

4 B ecause of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

a causa de la multitud de las fornicaciones de la ramera de hermosa gracia, maestra en hechizos, que seduce a las naciones con sus fornicaciones, y a los pueblos con sus hechizos.

5 B ehold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

Heme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, y descubriré tus faldas hasta tu rostro, y mostraré a las naciones tu desnudez, y a los reinos tus vergüenzas.

6 A nd I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

Y echaré sobre ti inmundicias, y te afrentaré, y te pondré como un hazmerreír.

7 A nd it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

Todos los que te vean se apartarán de ti, y dirán: ¡Nínive, asolada!; ¿quién se compadecerá de ella? ¿Dónde te buscaré consoladores?

8 A rt thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

¿Eres tú mejor que Tebas, que estaba asentada junto al Nilo, rodeada de aguas, cuyo baluarte era el mar, y aguas por muro?

9 E thiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

Etiopía era su fuerza, también Egipto, y eso sin límite; Fut y Libia fueron sus ayudadores.

10 Y et was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

Sin embargo, ella fue llevada en cautiverio; también sus pequeños fueron estrellados en las encrucijadas de todas las calles, y echaron suertes sobre sus nobles, y todos sus grandes fueron cargados de cadenas.

11 T hou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

Tú también serás embriagada, y serás encerrada; tú también buscarás refugio a causa del enemigo.

12 A ll thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

Todas tus fortalezas serán cual higueras con brevas, que si las sacuden, caen en la boca del que las ha de comer.

13 B ehold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

He aquí, tu pueblo será todo mujeres en medio de ti; las puertas de tu tierra se abrirán de par en par a tus enemigos; el fuego consumirá tus cerrojos.

14 D raw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.

Provéete de agua para el asedio, refuerza tus fortalezas; entra en el lodo, pisa el barro, refuerza el horno de ladrillos.

15 T here shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

Allí te consumirá el fuego, te talará la espada, te devorará como pulgón; multiplícate como el pulgón, multiplícate como la langosta.

16 T hou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and fleeth away.

Multiplicaste tus mercaderes más que las estrellas del cielo; la langosta despliega sus alas y se va.

17 T hy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

Tus funcionarios serán como pulgones, y tus escribas como nubes de langostas que se sientan en vallados en día de frío; salido el sol se van, y no se conoce el lugar donde están.

18 T hy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

Se durmieron tus pastores, oh rey de Asiria, reposan tus valientes; tu pueblo se dispersó por los montes, y no hay quien lo junte.

19 T here is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

No hay medicina para tu magulladura; tu herida es incurable; todos los que oigan tu noticia batirán las manos sobre ti, porque ¿sobre quién no pasó continuamente tu maldad?
