1 G ather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

Recogeos dentro de vosotros mismos e inclinaos, oh nación sin pudor,

2 B efore the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord 's anger come upon you.

antes que tenga efecto el decreto, y aquel día seáis como el tamo que pasa; antes que venga sobre vosotros el furor de la ira de Jehová, antes que el día de la ira de Jehová venga sobre vosotros.

3 S eek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord 's anger.

Buscad a Jehová todos los humildes de la tierra, los que pusisteis por obra sus ordenanzas; buscad la justicia, buscad la mansedumbre; quizá quedaréis resguardados en el día del enojo de Jehová.

4 F or Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

Porque Gaza será desamparada, y Ascalón asolada; Asdod será saqueada en pleno día, y Ecrón será desarraigada.

5 W oe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the Lord is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

¡Ay de los que moran en la costa del mar, del pueblo de los cereteos! La palabra de Jehová se alza contra vosotros; oh Canaán, tierra de los filisteos, yo te haré destruir hasta no dejar morador.

6 A nd the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

Y será la costa del mar praderas para pastores, y corrales de ovejas.

7 A nd the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the Lord their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

Será aquel lugar para el remanente de la casa de Judá; allí apacentarán; dormirán de noche en las casas de Ascalón; porque Jehová su Dios los visitará, y les hará volver de su cautiverio.

8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

Yo he oído las afrentas de Moab, y los denuestos de los hijos de Amón con que deshonraron a mi pueblo, y se engrandecieron con su territorio.

9 T herefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.

Por tanto, vivo yo, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, que Moab será como Sodoma, y los hijos de Amón como Gomorra; campo de ortigas, y mina de sal, y asolamiento perpetuo; el remanente de mi pueblo los saqueará, y el remanente de mi pueblo los heredará.

10 T his shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.

Éste será el pago de su soberbia, porque afrentaron y se insolentaron contra el pueblo de Jehová de los ejércitos.

11 T he Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

Terrible será Jehová contra ellos, porque destruirá a todos los dioses de la tierra, y se inclinarán a él, cada una desde su lugar, todas las tierras de las naciones.

12 Y e Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

También vosotros, los de Etiopía, seréis muertos con mi espada.

13 A nd he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

Y extenderá su mano contra el norte, y destruirá a Asiria, y convertirá a Nínive en asolamiento y en sequedal como un desierto.

14 A nd flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds; for he shall uncover the cedar work.

En medio de ella se tumbarán los rebaños, y todas las bestias del campo; también el pelícano y el erizo dormirán en sus capiteles; una voz cantará en las ventanas; habrá desolación en las puertas, porque su enmaderamiento de cedro será descubierto.

15 T his is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

Ésta es la ciudad alegre que estaba confiada, la que decía en su corazón: Yo, y nadie más. ¡Cómo fue asolada, hecha guarida de fieras! Cualquiera que pase junto a ella, se burlará y agitará la mano.
