1 N ow after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

Pasadas estas cosas, en el reinado de Artajerjes rey de Persia, Esdras hijo de Seraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Hilcías,

2 T he son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

hijo de Salum, hijo de Sadoc, hijo de Ahitub,

3 T he son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

hijo de Amarías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Merayot,

4 T he son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

hijo de Zeraías, hijo de Uzí, hijo de Buquí,

5 T he son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:

hijo de Abisúa, hijo de Fineés, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, primer sacerdote,

6 T his Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.

subió de Babilonia. Era este Esdras escriba diligente en la ley de Moisés, que Jehová Dios de Israel había dado; y le concedió el rey todo lo que pidió, porque la mano de Jehová su Dios estaba sobre él.

7 A nd there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

Y con él subieron a Jerusalén algunos de los hijos de Israel, y de los sacerdotes, levitas, cantores, porteros y sirvientes del templo, en el séptimo año del rey Artajerjes.

8 A nd he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

Y llegó a Jerusalén en el mes quinto del año séptimo del rey.

9 F or upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

Pues había fijado para el día primero del primer mes su salida de Babilonia, y al primero del mes quinto llegó a Jerusalén, estando con él la buena mano de Dios.

10 F or Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

Porque Esdras había preparado su corazón para escudriñar la ley de Jehová y para cumplirla, y para enseñar en Israel sus estatutos y decretos. El decreto de Artajerjes

11 N ow this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes to Israel.

Esta es la copia de la carta que dio el rey Artajerjes al sacerdote Esdras, escriba versado en los mandamientos de Jehová y en sus estatutos a Israel:

12 A rtaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.

Artajerjes rey de reyes, a Esdras, sacerdote y escriba erudito en la ley del Dios del cielo: Paz.

13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

Por mí es dada orden que todo aquel en mi reino, del pueblo de Israel y de sus sacerdotes y levitas, que quiera ir contigo a Jerusalén, vaya.

14 F orasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;

Porque de parte del rey y de sus siete consejeros eres enviado a inspeccionar Judea y Jerusalén, conforme a la ley de tu Dios que está en tu mano;

15 A nd to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

y a llevar la plata y el oro que el rey y sus consejeros voluntariamente ofrecen al Dios de Israel, cuya morada está en Jerusalén,

16 A nd all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:

y toda la plata y el oro que halles en toda la provincia de Babilonia, con las ofrendas voluntarias del pueblo y de los sacerdotes, que voluntariamente ofrezcan para la casa de su Dios, la cual está en Jerusalén.

17 T hat thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

Comprarás, pues, diligentemente con este dinero becerros, carneros y corderos, con sus ofrendas y sus libaciones, y los ofrecerás sobre el altar de la casa de vuestro Dios, la cual está en Jerusalén.

18 A nd whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.

Y lo que a ti y a tus hermanos os parezca hacer de la otra plata y oro, hacedlo conforme a la voluntad de vuestro Dios.

19 T he vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.

Los utensilios que te son entregados para el servicio de la casa de tu Dios, los restituirás delante de Dios en Jerusalén.

20 A nd whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.

Y todo lo que se requiere para la casa de tu Dios, que te sea necesario dar, lo darás de la casa de los tesoros del rey.

21 A nd I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

Y por mí, Artajerjes rey, es dada orden a todos los tesoreros que están al otro lado del río, que todo lo que os pida el sacerdote Esdras, escriba de la ley del Dios del cielo, se le conceda prontamente,

22 U nto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

hasta cien talentos de plata, cien coros de trigo, cien batos de vino, y cien batos de aceite; y sal sin medida.

23 W hatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

Todo lo que es mandado por el Dios del cielo, sea hecho prontamente para la casa del Dios del cielo; para que no caiga su ira sobre el reino del rey y de sus hijos.

24 A lso we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.

Os hacemos saber también que a todos los sacerdotes y levitas, cantores, porteros, sirvientes del templo y ministros de la casa de Dios, nadie podrá imponerles tributo, contribución ni renta.

25 A nd thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.

Y tú, Esdras, conforme a la sabiduría que tienes de tu Dios, pon jueces y gobernadores que gobiernen a todo el pueblo que está al otro lado del río, a todos los que conocen las leyes de tu Dios; y al que no las conoce, le enseñarás.

26 A nd whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

Y cualquiera que no cumpla la ley de tu Dios, y la ley del rey, sea juzgado prontamente, sea a muerte, a destierro, a pena de multa, o prisión. Viaje de Esdras de Babilonia a Palestina

27 B lessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem:

Bendito sea Jehová, Dios de nuestros padres, que puso tal cosa en el corazón del rey, para honrar la casa de Jehová que está en Jerusalén,

28 A nd hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

e inclinó hacia mí su misericordia delante del rey y de sus consejeros, y de todos los príncipes poderosos del rey. Y yo, fortalecido por la mano de mi Dios sobre mí, reuní a los principales de Israel para que subiesen conmigo.
