1 T he elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

Ruego a los ancianos que están entre vosotros, yo anciano también con ellos, y testigo de los padecimientos de Cristo, que soy también participante de la gloria que ha de ser revelada:

2 F eed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

Pastoread la grey de Dios que está entre vosotros, cuidando de ella, no forzados, sino voluntariamente; no por ganancia deshonesta, sino con ánimo pronto;

3 N either as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.

ni como teniendo señorío sobre los que están a vuestro cuidado, sino siendo ejemplos de la grey.

4 A nd when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Y cuando aparezca el Príncipe de los pastores, recibiréis la corona incorruptible de gloria.

5 L ikewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Igualmente, los más jóvenes, estad sujetos a los más ancianos; y todos, sumisos unos a otros, revestíos de humildad; porque: Dios resiste a los soberbios, Y da gracia a los humildes.

6 H umble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Humillaos, pues, bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que él os exalte a su tiempo;

7 C asting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

echando toda vuestra ansiedad sobre él, porque él tiene cuidado de vosotros.

8 B e sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Sed sobrios, y velad; porque vuestro adversario el diablo, como león rugiente, anda alrededor buscando a quien devorar;

9 W hom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

al cual resistid firmes en la fe, sabiendo que los mismos padecimientos se van cumpliendo en vuestros hermanos en todo el mundo.

10 B ut the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Mas el Dios de toda gracia, que nos llamó a su gloria eterna en Jesucristo, después que hayáis padecido un poco de tiempo, él mismo os perfeccione, afiance, fortalezca y establezca.

11 T o him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

A él sea la gloria y el dominio por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. Saludos finales

12 B y Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

Por conducto de Silvano, a quien tengo por hermano fiel, os he escrito brevemente, exhortándoos, y testificando que ésta es la verdadera gracia de Dios, en la cual estáis.

13 T he church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

La iglesia que está en Babilonia, elegida juntamente con vosotros, y Marcos mi hijo, os saludan.

14 G reet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Saludaos unos a otros con beso de amor. Paz a todos vosotros los que estáis en Jesucristo. Amén.
