Profecía sobre Nínive. Libro de la visión de Nahúm de Elcós.

2 G od is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; the Lord revengeth, and is furious; the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

Jehová es Dios celoso y vengador; Jehová es vengador y lleno de indignación; se venga de sus adversarios, y guarda enojo para sus enemigos.

3 T he Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

Jehová es tardo para la ira y grande en poder, y no tendrá por inocente al culpable. Jehová camina en la tempestad y el torbellino, y las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.

4 H e rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.

Él amenaza al mar, y lo hace secar, y agota todos los ríos; Basán y el Carmel languidecen, y la flor del Líbano se marchita.

5 T he mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.

Los montes tiemblan delante de él, y los collados se derriten; la tierra se agita a su presencia, y el mundo, y todos los que en él habitan.

6 W ho can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

¿Quién se sostendrá delante de su ira?; ¿y quién quedará en pie en el ardor de su enojo? Su ira se derrama como fuego, y por él se hienden las peñas.

7 T he Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

Jehová es bueno, fortaleza en el día de la angustia; y conoce a los que en él confían.

8 B ut with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.

Mas con inundación impetuosa consumirá a sus adversarios, y hasta en las tinieblas perseguirá a sus enemigos.

9 W hat do ye imagine against the Lord ? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

¿Qué tramáis contra Jehová? Él hará exterminio; no tomará venganza dos veces de sus enemigos.

10 F or while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.

Aunque sean como espinos entretejidos, y estén empapados de bebida, serán consumidos completamente como hojarasca seca.

11 T here is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the Lord, a wicked counsellor.

De ti salió el que maquinó perversidades contra Jehová, un consejero de Belial.

12 T hus saith the Lord; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.

Así dice Jehová: Aunque estén incólumes, y sean numerosos, aun así serán talados, y pasarán. Bastante te he afligido; no te afligiré ya más.

13 F or now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.

Porque ahora quebraré su yugo de sobre ti, y romperé tus cadenas.

14 A nd the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.

Mas acerca de ti manda Jehová, que no quede ni memoria de tu nombre; de la casa de tu dios destruiré escultura y estatua de fundición; allí pondré tu sepulcro, porque fuiste vil. Anuncio de la caída de Nínive

15 B ehold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.

He aquí que vienen sobre los montes los pies del que trae buenas nuevas, del que anuncia la paz. Celebra, oh Judá, tus fiestas, cumple tus votos; porque nunca más volverá a pasar por ti el malvado; pereció del todo.
