1 A gain there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.

Aconteció que otro día vinieron los hijos de Dios para presentarse delante de Jehová, y Satanás vino también entre ellos presentándose delante de Jehová.

2 A nd the Lord said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Y dijo Jehová a Satanás: ¿De dónde vienes? Respondió Satanás a Jehová, y dijo: De dar una vuelta por la tierra, y pasearme por ella.

3 A nd the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.

Y Jehová dijo a Satanás: ¿No te has fijado en mi siervo Job, que no hay otro como él en la tierra, varón cabal y recto, temeroso de Dios y apartado del mal, y que todavía retiene su integridad, aun cuando tú me incitaste contra él para que lo arruinara sin causa?

4 A nd Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

Respondiendo Satanás, dijo a Jehová: Piel por piel, todo lo que el hombre tiene dará por su vida.

5 B ut put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

Pero extiende ahora tu mano, y toca su hueso y su carne, y verás si no blasfema contra ti en tu misma presencia.

6 A nd the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

Y Jehová dijo a Satanás: He aquí, él está en tu mano; mas guarda su vida.

7 S o went Satan forth from the presence of the Lord, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

Entonces salió Satanás de la presencia de Jehová, e hirió a Job con unas llagas malignas desde la planta del pie hasta la coronilla de la cabeza.

8 A nd he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.

Y tomaba Job un trozo de tiesto para rascarse con él, y estaba sentado sobre las cenizas de la basura.

9 T hen said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

Entonces le dijo su mujer: ¿Aún persistes en tu integridad? Maldice a Dios, y muérete.

10 B ut he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Y él le dijo: Hablas como suele hablar cualquiera de las mujeres fatuas. ¿Qué? ¿Aceptaremos de Dios el bien, y el mal no lo aceptaremos? En todo esto no pecó Job con sus labios.

11 N ow when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.

Tres amigos de Job, Elifaz temanita, Bildad suhita, y Zofar naamatita, luego que oyeron todo este mal que le había sobrevenido, vinieron cada uno de su lugar; porque habían convenido en venir juntos para condolerse con él y para consolarle.

12 A nd when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

Los cuales, al verlo desde lejos, no lo reconocieron, y prorrumpieron en llanto con gran clamor; y cada uno de ellos rasgó su manto, y los tres esparcieron polvo sobre sus cabezas y hacia el cielo.

13 S o they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

Luego se sentaron con él en tierra por siete días y siete noches, y ninguno le hablaba palabra, porque veían que su dolor era muy grande.
