1 F or the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Porque la ley, teniendo la sombra de los bienes venideros, no la representación misma de las cosas, nunca puede, por los mismos sacrificios que se ofrecen continuamente cada año, hacer perfectos a los que se acercan.

2 F or then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

De otra manera cesarían de ofrecerse, pues los que tributan este culto, limpios de una vez, no tendrían ya ninguna conciencia de pecado.

3 B ut in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

Pero en estos sacrificios cada año se hace memoria de los pecados;

4 F or it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

porque la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos no puede quitar los pecados.

5 W herefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

Por lo cual, entrando en el mundo dice: Sacrificio y ofrenda no quisiste; Pero me preparaste un cuerpo.

6 I n burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

En holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no te complaciste.

7 T hen said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Entonces dije: He aquí que vengo, oh Dios, para hacer tu voluntad, Como está escrito de mí en el rollo del libro.

8 A bove when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

Diciendo más arriba: Sacrificio y ofrenda, holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no quisiste, ni en ellos te complaciste (las cuales cosas se ofrecen según la ley),

9 T hen said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

ha dicho luego: He aquí que vengo, oh Dios, para hacer tu voluntad; quita lo primero, para establecer lo segundo.

10 B y the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

En la cual voluntad hemos sido santificados mediante la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo hecha una vez para siempre.

11 A nd every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

Y en verdad todo sacerdote está día tras día ministrando y ofreciendo muchas veces los mismos sacrificios, que nunca pueden quitar los pecados;

12 B ut this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

pero Cristo, habiendo ofrecido un solo sacrificio por los pecados, para siempre se ha sentado a la diestra de Dios,

13 F rom henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

esperando de ahí en adelante hasta que sus enemigos sean puestos por estrado de sus pies;

14 F or by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

porque con una sola ofrenda ha hecho perfectos para siempre a los que son santificados.

15 W hereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

Y nos da testimonio también el Espíritu Santo; porque después de haber dicho:

16 T his is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

Este es el pacto que haré con ellos Después de aquellos días, dice el Señor: Pondré mis leyes en sus corazones, Y las inscribiré en sus mentes,

17 A nd their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

añade: Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados e iniquidades.

18 N ow where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

Pues donde hay perdón de estas cosas, ya no hay ofrenda por el pecado.

19 H aving therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Así que, hermanos, teniendo entera libertad para entrar en el Lugar Santo por la sangre de Jesucristo,

20 B y a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

por el camino nuevo y vivo que él abrió para nosotros a través del velo, esto es, de su carne,

21 A nd having an high priest over the house of God;

y teniendo un gran sacerdote sobre la casa de Dios,

22 L et us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

acerquémonos con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe, teniendo los corazones purificados de mala conciencia, y los cuerpos lavados con agua pura.

23 L et us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Mantengamos firme, sin fluctuar, la profesión de nuestra esperanza, porque fiel es el que prometió.

24 A nd let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Y considerémonos unos a otros para estimularnos al amor y a las buenas obras;

25 N ot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

no dejando de congregarnos, como algunos tienen por costumbre, sino exhortándonos; y tanto más, cuanto que veis que aquel día se acerca. Advertencia al que continúa pecando deliberadamente

26 F or if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Porque si continuamos pecando voluntariamente después de haber recibido el conocimiento de la verdad, ya no queda más sacrificio por los pecados,

27 B ut a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

sino una horrenda expectación de juicio, y un fuego airado, que está a punto de consumir a los adversarios.

28 H e that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

El que viola la ley de Moisés, por el testimonio de dos o de tres testigos muere sin compasión.

29 O f how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

¿Cuánto mayor castigo pensáis que merecerá el que haya hollado al Hijo de Dios, y haya tenido por inmunda la sangre del pacto en la cual fue santificado, y haya ultrajado al Espíritu de gracia?

30 F or we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

Pues conocemos al que dijo: Mía es la venganza, yo daré el pago, dice el Señor. Y otra vez: El Señor juzgará a su pueblo.

31 I t is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¡Horrenda cosa es caer en manos del Dios vivo!

32 B ut call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;

Pero traed a la memoria los días pasados, en los cuales, después de haber sido iluminados, sostuvisteis gran combate de padecimientos;

33 P artly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.

por una parte, siendo expuestos públicamente a ultrajes y aflicciones; por otra, siendo compañeros de los que estaban en una situación semejante.

34 F or ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.

Porque también os compadecisteis de los presos, y sufristeis con gozo el despojo de vuestros bienes, sabiendo que tenéis para vosotros una mejor y perdurable posesión en los cielos.

35 C ast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

No perdáis, pues, vuestra confianza, que tiene gran galardón;

36 F or ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

porque tenéis necesidad de paciencia, para que habiendo hecho la voluntad de Dios, obtengáis la promesa.

37 F or yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Porque aún un poquito, Y el que ha de venir vendrá, y no tardará.

38 N ow the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Mas el justo vivirá por fe; Y si retrocede, mi alma no se complace en él.

39 B ut we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Pero nosotros no somos de los que retroceden para destrucción, sino de los que tienen fe para preservación del alma.
