1 I n the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

En el año duodécimo de Acaz rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Oseas hijo de Elá en Samaria sobre Israel; y reinó nueve años.

2 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como los reyes de Israel que habían sido antes de él.

3 A gainst him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

Contra éste subió Salmanasar rey de los asirios; y Oseas se le sometió, y le pagaba tributo.

4 A nd the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

Mas el rey de Asiria descubrió que Oseas conspiraba; porque había enviado embajadores a So, rey de Egipto, y no pagó tributo al rey de Asiria, como lo hacía cada año; por lo que el rey de Asiria le detuvo, y le encadenó en la casa de la cárcel.

5 T hen the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

Y el rey de Asiria invadió todo el país, y sitió a Samaria, y mantuvo el sitio durante tres años.

6 I n the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

En el año nueve de Oseas, el rey de Asiria tomó Samaria, y llevó a Israel cautivo a Asiria, y los puso en Halah, en Habor junto al río Gozán, y en las ciudades de los medos.

7 F or so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

Porque los hijos de Israel pecaron contra Jehová su Dios, que los sacó de tierra de Egipto, de bajo la mano de Faraón rey de Egipto, y reverenciaron a dioses ajenos,

8 A nd walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

siguiendo las costumbres de las naciones que Jehová había lanzado de delante de los hijos de Israel, y las costumbres que habían establecido los reyes de Israel.

9 A nd the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

Y los hijos de Israel maquinaron cosas no rectas contra Jehová su Dios, edificándose lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde las torres de las atalayas hasta las ciudades fortificadas,

10 A nd they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

y levantaron estatuas e imágenes de Aserá en todo collado alto, y debajo de todo árbol frondoso,

11 A nd there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger:

y quemaron allí incienso en todos los lugares altos, a la manera de las naciones que Jehová había expulsado de delante de ellos, e hicieron cosas muy malas que provocaban la ira de Jehová.

12 F or they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

Y servían a los ídolos, de los cuales Jehová les había dicho: Vosotros no habéis de hacer esto.

13 Y et the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

Jehová amonestó entonces a Israel y a Judá por medio de todos los profetas y de todos los videntes, diciendo: Volveos de vuestros malos caminos, y guardad mis mandamientos y mis ordenanzas, conforme a todas las leyes que yo prescribí a vuestros padres, y que os he enviado por medio de mis siervos los profetas.

14 N otwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.

Mas ellos no obedecieron, antes endurecieron su cerviz, como la cerviz de sus padres, los cuales no creyeron en Jehová su Dios.

15 A nd they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.

Y desecharon sus estatutos, y el pacto que él había hecho con sus padres, y los testimonios que él había prescrito a ellos; y siguieron la vanidad, y se hicieron vanos, y fueron en pos de las naciones que estaban alrededor de ellos, de las cuales Jehová les había mandado que no hiciesen a la manera de ellas.

16 A nd they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

Dejaron todos los mandamientos de Jehová su Dios, y se hicieron imágenes fundidas de dos becerros, y también imágenes de Aserá, y adoraron a todo el ejército de los cielos, y sirvieron a Baal;

17 A nd they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

e hicieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por fuego; y se dieron a adivinaciones y agüeros, y se entregaron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, provocándole a ira.

18 T herefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

Jehová, por tanto, se airó en gran manera contra Israel, y los quitó de delante de su rostro; y no quedó sino sólo la tribu de Judá.

19 A lso Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

Mas ni aun Judá guardó los mandamientos de Jehová su Dios, sino que anduvieron en las costumbres que practicó Israel, las cuales habían ellos establecido.

20 A nd the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

Y desechó Jehová a toda la descendencia de Israel, y los afligió, y los entregó en manos de saqueadores, hasta echarlos de su presencia.

21 F or he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the Lord, and made them sin a great sin.

Porque separó a Israel de la casa de David, y ellos hicieron rey a Jeroboam hijo de Nebat; y Jeroboam apartó a Israel de en pos de Jehová, y les hizo cometer gran pecado.

22 F or the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

Y los hijos de Israel anduvieron en todos los pecados de Jeroboam que él hizo, sin apartarse de ellos,

23 U ntil the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

hasta que Jehová quitó a Israel de delante de su rostro, como él lo había dicho por medio de todos los profetas sus siervos; e Israel fue llevado cautivo de su tierra a Asiria, hasta hoy. Asiria puebla de nuevo a Samaria

24 A nd the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

Y trajo el rey de Asiria gente de Babilonia, de Cutá, de Avá, de Hamat y de Sefarváyim, y los puso en las ciudades de Samaria, en lugar de los hijos de Israel; y poseyeron a Samaria, y habitaron en sus ciudades.

25 A nd so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

Y aconteció al principio, cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, que no temiendo ellos a Jehová, envió Jehová contra ellos leones que los mataban.

26 W herefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

Dijeron, pues, al rey de Asiria: Las gentes que tú trasladaste y pusiste en las ciudades de Samaria, no conocen la ley del Dios de aquella tierra, y él ha echado leones en medio de ellos, y he aquí que los leones los matan, porque no conocen la ley del Dios de la tierra.

27 T hen the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

Y el rey de Asiria mandó, diciendo: Llevad allá a alguno de los sacerdotes que trajisteis de allí, y vaya y habite allí, y les enseñe la ley del Dios del país.

28 T hen one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the Lord.

Y vino uno de los sacerdotes que habían llevado cautivo de Samaria, y habitó en Betel, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer a Jehová.

29 H owbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

Pero cada nación se hizo sus dioses, y los pusieron en los templos de los lugares altos que habían hecho los de Samaria; cada nación en su ciudad donde habitaba.

30 A nd the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

Los de Babilonia hicieron un Sucot-benot, los de Cutá hicieron un Nergal, y los de Hamat hicieron un Asimá.

31 A nd the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

Los aveos hicieron un Nibhaz y un Tartac, y los de Sefarváyim quemaban sus hijos en el fuego para adorar a Adramélec y a Anamélec, dioses de Sefarváyim.

32 S o they feared the Lord, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

Veneraban también a Jehová, e hicieron de entre ellos sacerdotes para los lugares altos, los cuales sacrificaban para ellos en los templos de los lugares altos.

33 T hey feared the Lord, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

Temían a Jehová, y honraban a sus dioses, según la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido trasladados.

34 U nto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

Hasta hoy hacen como antiguamente: ni temen a Jehová, ni guardan sus estatutos ni sus ordenanzas, ni hacen según la ley y los mandamientos que prescribió Jehová a los hijos de Jacob, al cual puso el nombre de Israel;

35 W ith whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

con los cuales Jehová había hecho pacto, y les mandó diciendo: No temeréis a otros dioses, ni los adoraréis, ni les serviréis, ni les haréis sacrificios.

36 B ut the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

Mas a Jehová, que os sacó de tierra de Egipto con gran poder y brazo extendido, a éste temeréis, y a éste adoraréis, y a éste haréis sacrificio.

37 A nd the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

Los estatutos y derechos y ley y mandamientos que os dio por escrito, cuidaréis siempre de ponerlos por obra, y no veneraréis a dioses ajenos.

38 A nd the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

No olvidaréis el pacto que hice con vosotros, ni veneraréis a dioses ajenos;

39 B ut the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

sino que reverenciaréis sólo a Jehová vuestro Dios, y él os librará de mano de todos vuestros enemigos.

40 H owbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

Pero ellos no escucharon; antes hicieron según su costumbre antigua.

41 S o these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

Así temieron a Jehová aquellas gentes, y al mismo tiempo sirvieron a sus ídolos; y también sus hijos y sus nietos, según como hicieron sus padres, así hacen hasta hoy.
