1 P aul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

2 G race be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Gracia y paz a vosotros, de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. El Dios de toda consolación

3 B lessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación,

4 W ho comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

el cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que nosotros podamos consolar a los que están en cualquier tribulación, por medio de la consolación con que nosotros mismos somos consolados por Dios.

5 F or as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

Porque de la manera que abundan en nosotros los padecimientos de Cristo, así abunda también por medio de Cristo nuestra consolación.

6 A nd whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

Ahora bien, si somos atribulados, es para vuestra consolación y salvación; o si somos consolados, es para vuestra consolación y salvación, la cual se va efectuando al soportar los mismos padecimientos que nosotros también padecemos.

7 A nd our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

Y nuestra esperanza respecto de vosotros es firme, pues sabemos que así como sois compañeros en los sufrimientos, también lo sois en la consolación.

8 F or we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

Porque, hermanos, no queremos que ignoréis acerca de nuestra tribulación que nos sobrevino en Asia; pues fuimos abrumados sobremanera por encima de nuestras fuerzas, de tal modo que aun perdimos la esperanza de conservar la vida.

9 B ut we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

Pero hemos tenido en nosotros mismos sentencia de muerte, para que no estuviésemos confiados en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos;

10 W ho delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

el cual nos libró, y nos libra, y en quien esperamos que aún nos librará, de tan gran muerte;

11 Y e also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

cooperando también vosotros a favor nuestro con la oración, para que por muchas personas sean dadas gracias a favor nuestro por el don concedido a nosotros por medio de muchos. Sinceridad de Pablo y demora de su visita a Corinto

12 F or our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

Porque nuestra gloria es esta: el testimonio de nuestra conciencia, que con sencillez y sinceridad de Dios, no con sabiduría carnal, sino con la gracia de Dios, nos hemos conducido en el mundo, y mucho más ante vosotros.

13 F or we write none other things unto you, that what ye read or acknowledge; and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end;

Porque no os escribimos otras cosas sino las que leéis, o también entendéis; y espero que hasta el fin las entenderéis;

14 A s also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are our's in the day of the Lord Jesus.

como también nos habéis entendido en parte, que somos vuestra gloria, así como también vosotros la nuestra en el día del Señor Jesús.

15 A nd in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;

Y con esta confianza me proponía ir primero a vosotros, para que tuvieseis una segunda gracia,

16 A nd to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.

y visitaros de paso para Macedonia, y desde Macedonia venir otra vez a vosotros, y ser encaminado por vosotros hacia Judea.

17 W hen I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?

Así que, al proponerme esto, ¿usé quizá de ligereza? ¿O lo que me propongo hacer, lo propongo según la carne, para que haya en mí Sí y No?

18 B ut as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay.

Pero Dios es testigo fiel de que nuestra palabra a vosotros no es Sí y No.

19 F or the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

Porque el Hijo de Dios, Jesucristo, que entre vosotros ha sido predicado por nosotros, por mí, Silvano y Timoteo, no ha sido Sí y No; sino que ha sido Sí en él;

20 F or all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

porque todas las promesas de Dios son en él Sí, y en él Amén, por medio de nosotros, para la gloria de Dios.

21 N ow he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

Y el que nos consolida con vosotros en Cristo, y el que nos ungió, es Dios,

22 W ho hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

el cual también nos ha sellado, y nos ha dado las arras del Espíritu en nuestros corazones.

23 M oreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.

Mas yo invoco a Dios por testigo sobre mi alma, que por ser indulgente con vosotros no he ido todavía a Corinto.

24 N ot for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

No es que pretendamos dominar sobre vuestra fe, sino que estamos contribuyendo a vuestro gozo; porque por la fe estáis firmes.
