1 P aul, apostle of Jesus Christ by God's will, and the brother Timotheus, to the assembly of God which is in Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia.

2 G race to you, and peace from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.

Gracia y paz a vosotros, de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. El Dios de toda consolación

3 B lessed the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassions, and God of all encouragement;

Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación,

4 w ho encourages us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to encourage those who are in any tribulation whatever, through the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged of God.

el cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que nosotros podamos consolar a los que están en cualquier tribulación, por medio de la consolación con que nosotros mismos somos consolados por Dios.

5 B ecause, even as the sufferings of the Christ abound towards us, so through the Christ does our encouragement also abound.

Porque de la manera que abundan en nosotros los padecimientos de Cristo, así abunda también por medio de Cristo nuestra consolación.

6 B ut whether we are in tribulation, for your encouragement and salvation, wrought in the endurance of the same sufferings which we also suffer,

Ahora bien, si somos atribulados, es para vuestra consolación y salvación; o si somos consolados, es para vuestra consolación y salvación, la cual se va efectuando al soportar los mismos padecimientos que nosotros también padecemos.

7 ( and our hope for you sure;) or whether we are encouraged, for your encouragement and salvation: knowing that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so also of the encouragement.

Y nuestra esperanza respecto de vosotros es firme, pues sabemos que así como sois compañeros en los sufrimientos, también lo sois en la consolación.

8 F or we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, as to our tribulation which happened in Asia, that we were excessively pressed beyond power, so as to despair even of living.

Porque, hermanos, no queremos que ignoréis acerca de nuestra tribulación que nos sobrevino en Asia; pues fuimos abrumados sobremanera por encima de nuestras fuerzas, de tal modo que aun perdimos la esperanza de conservar la vida.

9 B ut we ourselves had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not have our trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

Pero hemos tenido en nosotros mismos sentencia de muerte, para que no estuviésemos confiados en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos;

10 w ho has delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver; in whom we confide that he will also yet deliver;

el cual nos libró, y nos libra, y en quien esperamos que aún nos librará, de tan gran muerte;

11 y e also labouring together by supplication for us that the gift towards us, through means of many persons, may be the subject of the thanksgiving of many for us.

cooperando también vosotros a favor nuestro con la oración, para que por muchas personas sean dadas gracias a favor nuestro por el don concedido a nosotros por medio de muchos. Sinceridad de Pablo y demora de su visita a Corinto

12 F or our boasting is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and sincerity before God, (not in fleshly wisdom but in God's grace,) we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly towards you.

Porque nuestra gloria es esta: el testimonio de nuestra conciencia, que con sencillez y sinceridad de Dios, no con sabiduría carnal, sino con la gracia de Dios, nos hemos conducido en el mundo, y mucho más ante vosotros.

13 F or we do not write other things to you but what ye well know and recognise; and I hope that ye will recognise to the end,

Porque no os escribimos otras cosas sino las que leéis, o también entendéis; y espero que hasta el fin las entenderéis;

14 e ven as also ye have recognised us in part, that we are your boast, even as ye ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

como también nos habéis entendido en parte, que somos vuestra gloria, así como también vosotros la nuestra en el día del Señor Jesús.

15 A nd with this confidence I purposed to come to you previously, that ye might have a second favour;

Y con esta confianza me proponía ir primero a vosotros, para que tuvieseis una segunda gracia,

16 a nd to pass through to Macedonia by you, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and to be set forward by you to Judaea.

y visitaros de paso para Macedonia, y desde Macedonia venir otra vez a vosotros, y ser encaminado por vosotros hacia Judea.

17 H aving therefore this purpose, did I then use lightness? Or what I purpose, do I purpose according to flesh, that there should be with me yea yea, and nay nay?

Así que, al proponerme esto, ¿usé quizá de ligereza? ¿O lo que me propongo hacer, lo propongo según la carne, para que haya en mí Sí y No?

18 N ow God faithful, that our word to you is not yea and nay.

Pero Dios es testigo fiel de que nuestra palabra a vosotros no es Sí y No.

19 F or the Son of God, Jesus Christ, he who has been preached by us among you (by me and Silvanus and Timotheus), did not become yea and nay, but yea is in him.

Porque el Hijo de Dios, Jesucristo, que entre vosotros ha sido predicado por nosotros, por mí, Silvano y Timoteo, no ha sido Sí y No; sino que ha sido Sí en él;

20 F or whatever promises of God, in him is the yea, and in him the amen, for glory to God by us.

porque todas las promesas de Dios son en él Sí, y en él Amén, por medio de nosotros, para la gloria de Dios.

21 N ow he that establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, God,

Y el que nos consolida con vosotros en Cristo, y el que nos ungió, es Dios,

22 w ho also has sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

el cual también nos ha sellado, y nos ha dado las arras del Espíritu en nuestros corazones.

23 B ut I call God to witness upon my soul that to spare you I have not yet come to Corinth.

Mas yo invoco a Dios por testigo sobre mi alma, que por ser indulgente con vosotros no he ido todavía a Corinto.

24 N ot that we rule over your faith, but are fellow-workmen of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

No es que pretendamos dominar sobre vuestra fe, sino que estamos contribuyendo a vuestro gozo; porque por la fe estáis firmes.
