1 O senseless Galatians, who has bewitched you; to whom, as before your very eyes, Jesus Christ has been portrayed, crucified ?

¡Oh gálatas insensatos!, ¿quién os fascinó para no obedecer a la verdad, a vosotros ante cuyos ojos Jesucristo fue ya presentado claramente entre vosotros como crucificado?

2 T his only I wish to learn of you, Have ye received the Spirit on the principle of works of law, or of report of faith?

Esto solo quiero averiguar de vosotros: ¿Recibisteis el Espíritu por las obras de la ley, o por el oír con fe?

3 A re ye so senseless? having begun in Spirit, are ye going to be made perfect in flesh?

¿Tan necios sois? ¿Habiendo comenzado por el Espíritu, ahora vais a terminar por la carne?

4 H ave ye suffered so many things in vain, if indeed also in vain?

¿Tantas cosas habéis padecido en vano?, si es que realmente fue en vano.

5 H e therefore who ministers to you the Spirit, and works miracles among you, on the principle of works of law, or of report of faith?

Aquel, pues, que os suministra el Espíritu, y realiza milagros entre vosotros, ¿lo hace por las obras de la ley, o por el oír con fe? El pacto de Dios con Abraham

6 E ven as Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.

Tal como Abraham creyó a Dios, y le fue contado por justicia.

7 K now then that they that are on the principle of faith, these are Abraham's sons;

Sabed, por tanto, que los que son de fe, éstos son hijos de Abraham.

8 a nd the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the nations on the principle of faith, announced beforehand the glad tidings to Abraham: In thee all the nations shall be blessed.

Y la Escritura, previendo que Dios había de justificar por la fe a los gentiles, dio de antemano la buena nueva a Abraham, diciendo: En ti serán benditas todas las naciones.

9 S o that they who are on the principle of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

De modo que los que viven por la fe son bendecidos con el creyente Abraham.

10 F or as many as are on the principle of works of law are under curse. For it is written, Cursed is every one who does not continue in all things which written in the book of the law to do them;

Porque todos los que dependen de las obras de la ley están bajo maldición, pues escrito está: Maldito todo aquel que no permanezca en todas las cosas escritas en el libro de la ley, para hacerlas.

11 b ut that by law no one is justified with God evident, because The just shall live on the principle of faith;

Y que por la ley ninguno se justifica para con Dios, es evidente, porque: El justo por la fe vivirá;

12 b ut the law is not on the principle of faith; but, He that shall have done these things shall live by them.

y la ley no procede de la fe, sino que dice: El que haga estas cosas vivirá por ellas.

13 C hrist has redeemed us out of the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, (for it is written, Cursed every one hanged upon a tree,)

Cristo nos redimió de la maldición de la ley, habiéndose hecho maldición por nosotros (porque está escrito: Maldito todo el que es colgado en un madero),

14 t hat the blessing of Abraham might come to the nations in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

para que en Cristo Jesús la bendición de Abraham alcanzase a los gentiles, a fin de que por medio de la fe recibiésemos la promesa del Espíritu.

15 B rethren, (I speak according to man,) even man's confirmed covenant no one sets aside, or adds other dispositions to.

Hermanos, hablo en términos humanos: Un pacto, aunque sea de hombre, una vez ratificado, nadie lo invalida, ni le añade.

16 B ut to Abraham were the promises addressed, and to his seed: he does not say, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed; which is Christ.

Ahora bien, a Abraham fueron hechas las promesas, y a su simiente. No dice: Y a las simientes, como refiriéndose a muchos, sino a uno: Y a tu simiente, la cual es Cristo.

17 N ow I say this, A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which took place four hundred and thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.

Esto, pues, digo: El pacto previamente ratificado por Dios para con Cristo, la ley que vino cuatrocientos treinta años después, no lo abroga como para invalidar la promesa.

18 F or if the inheritance on the principle of law, no longer on the principle of promise; but God gave it in grace to Abraham by promise.

Porque si la herencia es a base de la ley, ya no depende de la promesa; pero Dios la otorgó a Abraham mediante la promesa. El propósito de la ley

19 W hy then the law? It was added for the sake of transgressions, until the seed came to whom the promise was made, ordained through angels in hand of a mediator.

Entonces, ¿para qué sirve la ley? Fue añadida a causa de las transgresiones, hasta que viniese la simiente a quien estaba destinada la promesa; y fue promulgada por medio de ángeles en mano de un mediador.

20 B ut a mediator is not of one, but God is one.

Y el mediador no lo es de uno solo; pero Dios es uno.

21 t hen the law against the promises of God? Far be the thought. For if a law had been given able to quicken, then indeed righteousness were on the principle of law;

¿Luego la ley es contraria a las promesas de Dios? ¡En ninguna manera! Porque si se hubiese dado una ley que pudiera vivificar, la justicia dependería realmente de la ley.

22 b ut the scripture has shut up all things under sin, that the promise, on the principle of faith of Jesus Christ, should be given to those that believe.

Mas la Escritura lo encerró todo bajo pecado, para que la promesa fuese dada a los creyentes a base de la fe en Jesucristo.

23 B ut before faith came, we were guarded under law, shut up to faith about to be revealed.

Pero antes que viniese la fe, estábamos confinados bajo la ley, encerrados para aquella fe que iba a ser revelada.

24 S o that the law has been our tutor up to Christ, that we might be justified on the principle of faith.

De manera que la ley ha sido nuestro ayo hacia Cristo, a fin de que fuésemos justificados por la fe.

25 B ut, faith having come, we are no longer under a tutor;

Pero venida la fe, ya no estamos bajo ayo,

26 f or ye are all God's sons by faith in Christ Jesus.

pues todos sois hijos de Dios mediante la fe en Cristo Jesús;

27 F or ye, as many as have been baptised unto Christ, have put on Christ.

porque todos los que habéis sido bautizados en Cristo, os habéis revestido de Cristo.

28 T here is no Jew nor Greek; there is no bondman nor freeman; there is no male and female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus:

Ya no hay judío ni griego; no hay esclavo ni libre; no hay varón ni mujer; porque todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús.

29 b ut if ye of Christ, then ye are Abraham's seed, heirs according to promise.

Y si vosotros sois de Cristo, entonces sois descendencia de Abraham, y herederos según la promesa.
