1 A nd the king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

Entonces el rey mandó reunir con él a todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalén.

2 A nd the king went up into the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which had been found in the house of Jehovah.

Y subió el rey a la casa de Jehová con todos los varones de Judá, y con todos los moradores de Jerusalén, con los sacerdotes y profetas y con todo el pueblo, desde el más chico hasta el más grande; y leyó, oyéndolo ellos, todas las palabras del libro del pacto que había sido hallado en la casa de Jehová.

3 A nd the king stood on the dais, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all heart, and with all soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

Y poniéndose el rey en pie junto a la columna, hizo pacto delante de Jehová, de que irían en pos de Jehová, y guardarían sus mandamientos, sus testimonios y sus estatutos, con todo el corazón y con toda el alma, y que cumplirían las palabras del pacto que estaban escritas en aquel libro. Y todo el pueblo confirmó el pacto. Reformas de Josías

4 A nd the king commanded Hilkijah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring forth out of the temple of Jehovah all the vessels that had been made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of the heavens; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them to Bethel.

Entonces mandó el rey al sumo sacerdote Hilcías, a los sacerdotes de segundo orden, y a los guardianes de la puerta, que sacasen del templo de Jehová todos los utensilios que habían sido hechos para Baal, para Aserá y para todo el ejército de los cielos; y los quemó fuera de Jerusalén en el campo del Cedrón, e hizo llevar las cenizas de ellos a Betel.

5 A nd he abolished the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah, and the environs of Jerusalem; and them that burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.

Y quitó a los sacerdotes idólatras que habían puesto los reyes de Judá para que quemasen incienso en los lugares altos en las ciudades de Judá, y en los alrededores de Jerusalén; y asimismo a los que quemaban incienso a Baal, al sol y a la luna, y a los signos del zodíaco, y a todo el ejército de los cielos.

6 A nd he brought out the Asherah from the house of Jehovah, outside Jerusalem, to the torrent of Kidron, and burned it at the torrent of Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder upon the graves of the children of the people.

Hizo también sacar la imagen de Aserá fuera de la casa de Jehová, fuera de Jerusalén, al valle del Cedrón, y la quemó en el valle del Cedrón, y la convirtió en polvo, y echó el polvo sobre los sepulcros de los hijos del pueblo.

7 A nd he broke down the houses of the sodomites, which were in the house of Jehovah, where the women wove tents for the Asherah.

Además derribó los lugares de prostitución idolátrica que estaban en la casa de Jehová, en los cuales tejían las mujeres tiendas para Aserá.

8 A nd he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba even to Beer-sheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates, those at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, those on the left hand of any at the gate of the city.

E hizo venir a todos los sacerdotes de las ciudades de Judá, y profanó los lugares altos donde los sacerdotes quemaban incienso, desde Geba hasta Beerseba; y derribó los altares de las puertas que estaban a la entrada de la puerta de Josué, gobernador de la ciudad, que estaban a la mano izquierda, a la puerta de la ciudad.

9 N evertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem, but they ate of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

Pero los sacerdotes de los lugares altos no subían al altar de Jehová en Jerusalén, sino que comían panes sin levadura entre sus hermanos.

10 A nd he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the sons of Hinnom, that no man might cause his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

Asimismo profanó al Tófet que está en el valle del hijo de Hinom, para que ninguno pasase su hijo o su hija por fuego a Moloc.

11 A nd he abolished the horses that the kings of Judah had appointed to the sun at the entrance of the house of Jehovah, by the chamber of Nathan-melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun, with fire.

Suprimió también los caballos que los reyes de Judá habían dedicado al sol a la entrada del templo de Jehová, junto a la cámara de Natán-mélec eunuco, el cual tenía a su cargo los ejidos; y quemó al fuego los carros del sol.

12 A nd the king broke down the altars that were on the roof of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars that Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of Jehovah, and he shattered them, from thence, and cast the powder of them into the torrent of Kidron.

Derribó además el rey los altares que estaban sobre la azotea de la sala de Acaz, que los reyes de Judá habían hecho, y los altares que había hecho Manasés en los dos atrios de la casa de Jehová; los desmenuzó y arrojó el polvo al arroyo del Cedrón.

13 A nd the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

Asimismo profanó el rey los lugares altos que estaban delante de Jerusalén, a la mano derecha del monte de la destrucción, los cuales Salomón rey de Israel había edificado a Astoret ídolo abominable de los sidonios, a Quemós ídolo abominable de Moab, y a Milcom ídolo abominable de los hijos de Amón.

14 A nd he broke in pieces the columns, and cut down the Asherahs, and filled their place with the bones of men.

Y quebró las estatuas, y derribó las imágenes de Aserá, y llenó el lugar de ellos de huesos humanos.

15 M oreover the altar that was at Bethel, the high place that Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he broke down; and burned the high place, stamped it small to powder, and burned the Asherah.

Igualmente el altar que estaba en Betel, y el lugar alto que había hecho Jeroboam hijo de Nebat, el que hizo pecar a Israel; aquel altar y el lugar alto lo destruyó, lo quemó y lo hizo polvo, y puso fuego a la imagen de Aserá.

16 A nd Josiah turned himself, and saw the sepulchres that were there on the mount; and he sent and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned upon the altar, and defiled it, according to the word of Jehovah, that the man of God had proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

Y volvió la cabeza Josías, y viendo los sepulcros que estaban allí en el monte, mandó sacar los huesos de los sepulcros, y los quemó sobre el altar para contaminarlo, conforme a la palabra de Jehová que había profetizado el varón de Dios, el cual había anunciado esto.

17 T hen he said, What tombstone is that which I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things which thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.

Después dijo: ¿Qué monumento es este que veo? Y los de la ciudad le respondieron: Éste es el sepulcro del varón de Dios que vino de Judá, y profetizó estas cosas que tú has hecho sobre el altar de Betel.

18 A nd he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. And they saved his bones, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.

Y él dijo: Dejadlo; ninguno mueva sus huesos; y así fueron preservados sus huesos, y los huesos del profeta que había venido de Samaria.

19 A nd all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke to anger, Josiah removed, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.

Y todas las casas de los lugares altos que estaban en las ciudades de Samaria, las cuales habían hecho los reyes de Israel irritando a Jehová, las quitó también Josías, e hizo de ellas como había hecho en Betel.

20 A nd he sacrificed upon the altars all the priests of the high places that were there, and burned men's bones upon them. And he returned to Jerusalem.

Mató además sobre los altares a todos los sacerdotes de los lugares altos que allí estaban, y quemó sobre ellos huesos humanos, y volvió a Jerusalén. Josías celebra la pascua

21 A nd the king commanded all the people saying, Hold the passover to Jehovah your God, as it is written in this book of the covenant.

Entonces mandó el rey a todo el pueblo, diciendo: Celebrad la pascua a Jehová vuestro Dios, conforme a lo que está escrito en este libro del pacto.

22 F or there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

No se había celebrado tal pascua desde los tiempos en que los jueces gobernaban a Israel, ni en todos los tiempos de los reyes de Israel y de los reyes de Judá,

23 b ut in the eighteenth year of king Josiah was this passover holden to Jehovah in Jerusalem.

sino los dieciocho años del rey Josías, cuando fue celebrada esta pascua a Jehová en Jerusalén.

24 M oreover the necromancers and the soothsayers, and the teraphim and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, Josiah took away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkijah the priest had found in the house of Jehovah.

Asimismo barrió Josías a los encantadores, adivinos y terafines, y todas las abominaciones que se veían en la tierra de Judá y en Jerusalén, para cumplir las palabras de la ley que estaban escritas en el libro que el sacerdote Hilcías había hallado en la casa de Jehová.

25 A nd before him there had been no king like him that turned to Jehovah with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there his like.

No hubo otro rey antes de él, que se convirtiese a Jehová de todo su corazón, de toda su alma y de todas sus fuerzas, conforme a toda la ley de Moisés; ni después de él nació otro igual.

26 B ut Jehovah turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him.

Con todo eso, Jehová no desistió del ardor con que su gran ira se había encendido contra Judá, por todas las provocaciones con que Manasés le había irritado.

27 A nd Jehovah said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will reject this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

Y dijo Jehová: También quitaré de mi presencia a Judá, como quité a Israel, y desecharé a esta ciudad que había escogido, a Jerusalén, y a la casa de la cual había yo dicho: Mi nombre estará allí. Muerte de Josías

28 A nd the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Josías, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

29 I n his days Pharaoh-Nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates; and king Josiah went against him; but slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.

En aquellos días el Faraón Necó rey de Egipto subió contra el rey de Asiria al río Eufrates, y salió contra él el rey Josías; pero Necó, así que le vio, lo mató en Meguidó.

30 A nd his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.

Y sus siervos lo pusieron en un carro, y lo trajeron muerto de Meguidó a Jerusalén, y lo sepultaron en su sepulcro. Entonces el pueblo de la tierra tomó a Joacaz hijo de Josías, y lo ungieron y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de su padre. Reinado y destronamiento de Joacaz

31 J ehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Hamutal, daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

De veintitrés años era Joacaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó tres meses en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Hamital hija de Jeremías, de Libná.

32 A nd he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers had done.

Y él hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.

33 A nd Pharaoh-Nechoh had him bound at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and laid a tribute upon the land of a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

Y lo puso preso el Faraón Necó en Riblá en la provincia de Hamat, para que no reinase en Jerusalén; y puso al país un impuesto de cien talentos de plata, y uno de oro.

34 A nd Pharaoh-Nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king instead of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And he took Jehoahaz; and he came to Egypt, and died there.

Entonces el Faraón Necó puso por rey a Eliaquim hijo de Josías, en lugar de Josías su padre, y le cambió el nombre por el de Joacim; y tomó a Joacaz y lo llevó a Egipto, donde murió.

35 A nd Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he laid a proportional tax on the land to give the money according to the command of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his estimation, to give it to Pharaoh-Nechoh.

Y Joacim pagó a Faraón la plata y el oro; mas impuso una derrama al país, para dar el dinero conforme al mandamiento de Faraón, sacando la plata y el oro del pueblo de la tierra, de cada uno según la estimación de su hacienda, para darlo al Faraón Necó. Reinado de Joacim

36 J ehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zebuddah, daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

De veinticinco años era Joacim cuando comenzó a reinar, y once años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Zebidá hija de Pedayá de Rumá.

37 A nd he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers had done.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.
