1 A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; but a just weight is his delight.

El peso falso es abominación a Jehová; Mas la pesa cabal le agrada.

2 p ride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.

Cuando viene la soberbia, viene también la deshonra; Mas con los humildes está la sabiduría.

3 T he integrity of the upright guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them.

La integridad de los rectos les allanará el camino; Pero destruirá a los pecadores la perversidad de ellos.

4 W ealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.

No aprovecharán las riquezas en el día de la ira; Mas la justicia libra de la muerte.

5 T he righteousness of the perfect maketh plain his way; but the wicked falleth by his own wickedness.

La justicia del perfecto enderezará su camino; Mas el impío por su impiedad caerá.

6 T he righteousness of the upright delivereth them; but the treacherous are taken in their own craving.

La justicia de los rectos los librará; Mas los pecadores serán atrapados en su pecado.

7 W hen a wicked man dieth, expectation shall perish; and the hope of evil perisheth.

Cuando muere el hombre impío, perece su esperanza; Y la expectación de los malos quedará burlada.

8 T he righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

El justo es librado de la tribulación; Mas el impío entra a ocupar el lugar de él.

9 W ith his mouth a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge are the righteous delivered.

El hipócrita daña con la boca a su prójimo; Mas los justos son librados con su sabiduría.

10 W hen it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

Con el éxito de los justos la ciudad se alegra; Mas cuando los impíos perecen hay fiesta.

11 B y the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

Por la bendición de los rectos la ciudad será engrandecida; Mas por la boca de los impíos será trastornada.

12 H e that despiseth his neighbour is void of heart; but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

El que menosprecia a su prójimo carece de entendimiento; Mas el hombre prudente calla.

13 H e that goeth about talebearing revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

El que anda en chismes divulga los secretos; Mas el de espíritu fiel oculta las cosas.

14 W here no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Donde no hay dirección sabia, caerá el pueblo; Mas en la multitud de consejeros hay seguridad.

15 I t goeth ill with him that is surety for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secure.

Con ansiedad será afligido el que sale por fiador de un extraño; Mas el que aborreciere las fianzas vivirá seguro.

16 A gracious woman retaineth honour; and the violent retain riches.

La mujer agraciada retendrá el honor; Y el hombre fuerte retendrá las riquezas.

17 T he merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but the cruel troubleth his own flesh.

A sí mismo se beneficia el hombre misericordioso; Mas el cruel se atormenta a sí mismo.

18 T he wicked worketh a deceitful work; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.

El impío consigue un jornal falso; Mas el que siembra justicia tendrá galardón firme.

19 A s righteousness to life, so he that pursueth evil to his own death.

Como la justicia conduce a la vida, Así el que sigue el mal lo hace para su muerte.

20 T he perverse in heart are abomination to Jehovah; but they that are perfect in way are his delight.

Abominación son a Jehová los perversos de corazón; Mas los de camino intachable le son agradables.

21 H and for hand! an evil shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

Tarde o temprano, el malo será castigado; Mas la descendencia de los justos será librada.

22 A fair woman who is without discretion, is a gold ring in a swine's snout.

Como zarcillo de oro en el hocico de un cerdo Es la mujer hermosa, pero falta de razón.

23 T he desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

El deseo de los justos es solamente el bien; Mas lo que les espera a los impíos es el enojo.

24 T here is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but only to want.

Hay quienes reparten, y les es añadido más; Y hay quienes retienen más de lo que es justo, pero vienen a pobreza.

25 T he liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

El alma generosa será prosperada; Y el que saciare, él también será saciado.

26 H e that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

Al que acapara el grano, el pueblo lo maldecirá; Pero habrá bendición sobre la cabeza del que lo vende.

27 H e that is earnest after good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall come upon him.

El que busca el bien se procura favor; Mas al que busca el mal, éste le saldrá al encuentro.

28 H e that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.

El que confía en sus riquezas caerá; Mas los justos reverdecerán como el follaje.

29 H e that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

El que desordena su casa heredará viento; Y el necio será siervo del sabio de corazón.

30 T he fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and the wise winneth souls.

El fruto del justo es árbol de vida; Y el que gana almas es sabio,

31 B ehold, the righteous shall be requited on the earth: how much more the wicked and the sinner.

Ciertamente el justo será recompensado en la tierra; ¡Cuánto más el impío y el pecador!
