1 W hen Israel was a child, then I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

Cuando Israel era un niño, yo lo amé, y de Egipto llamé a mi hijo.

2 A s they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto the Baals, and burned incense to graven images.

Cuanto más los llamaba yo, tanto más se alejaban de mí; sacrificaban a los baales, y a los ídolos ofrecían sahumerios.

3 A nd I it was that taught Ephraim to walk,—He took them upon his arms,—but they knew not that I healed them.

Yo con todo eso enseñaba a andar al mismo Efraín, tomándole en brazos; y no conoció que yo le cuidaba.

4 I drew them with bands of a man, with cords of love; and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I gently caused them to eat.

Con cuerdas humanas los atraje, con cuerdas de amor; y fui para ellos como los que quitan el yugo de sobre su cerviz, y puse delante de ellos la comida.

5 H e shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king; for they refused to return;

No volverá a tierra de Egipto, sino que el asirio mismo será su rey, porque no se quisieron convertir.

6 a nd the sword shall turn about in his cities, and shall consume his bars, and devour, because of their own counsels.

Caerá la espada sobre sus ciudades, y consumirá las barras de sus puertas; y ellos comerán del fruto de sus propios designios.

7 Y ea, my people are bent upon backsliding from me: though they call them to the Most High, none at all exalteth.

Entretanto, mi pueblo está obstinado en apartarse de mí, y aunque les exhortan a subir, nadie quiere levantarse.

8 H ow shall I give thee over, Ephraim? shall I deliver thee up, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? shall I set thee as Zeboim? My heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

¿Cómo podré abandonarte, oh Efraín? ¿Cómo podré entregarte, oh Israel? ¿Cómo podré yo hacerte como Admá, o ponerte como a Zeboím? Mi corazón se revuelve dentro de mí, se inflama toda mi compasión.

9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not again destroy Ephraim; for I am God, and not man,—the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not come in anger.

No ejecutaré el ardor de mi ira, ni volveré para destruir a Efraín; porque Dios soy, y no hombre, el Santo en medio de ti; y no vendré con ira.

10 T hey shall walk after Jehovah; he shall roar like a lion; when he shall roar, then the children shall hasten from the west:

En pos de Jehová caminarán; él rugirá como un león; rugirá, y los hijos vendrán temblando desde el occidente.

11 t hey shall hasten as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will cause them to dwell in their houses, saith Jehovah.

Como un pájaro acudirán velozmente de Egipto, y de la tierra de Asiria como una paloma; y los haré habitar en sus casas, dice Jehová.

12 E phraim encompasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah yet walketh with God, and with the holy things of truth.

Me rodeó Efraín de mentira, y la casa de Israel de engaño. Judá aún es inconstante con su Dios, y con el Santo, que es fiel.
