1 A nd there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of Jehovah. And Jehovah said, It is for Saul, and for house of blood, because he slew the Gibeonites.

Hubo hambre en los días de David por tres años consecutivos. Y David consultó a Jehová, y Jehová le respondió: Es por causa de Saúl, y por aquella casa de sangre, por cuanto mató a los gabaonitas.

2 A nd the king called the Gibeonites, and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remainder of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn to them; and Saul sought to smite them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah.)

Entonces el rey llamó a los gabaonitas, y les habló. (Los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del resto de los amorreos, a los cuales los hijos de Israel habían hecho juramento; pero Saúl había procurado matarlos en su celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá.)

3 A nd David said to the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and with what shall I make atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of Jehovah?

Dijo, pues, David a los gabaonitas: ¿Qué haré por vosotros, o qué satisfacción os daré, para que bendigáis la heredad de Jehová?

4 A nd the Gibeonites said to him, As to Saul and his house, it is with us no question of receiving silver or gold, neither is it for us to have any man put to death in Israel. And he said, What ye say will I do for you.

Y los gabaonitas le respondieron: No tenemos nosotros querella sobre plata ni sobre oro con Saúl y con su casa; ni queremos que muera hombre de Israel. Y él les dijo: Lo que vosotros digáis, haré.

5 A nd they said to the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in all the borders of Israel,

Ellos respondieron al rey: De aquel hombre que nos destruyó, y que maquinó contra nosotros para exterminarnos sin dejar nada de nosotros en todo el territorio de Israel,

6 l et seven men of his sons be given up to us, and we will hang them up to Jehovah in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Jehovah. And the king said, I will give.

dénsenos siete varones de sus hijos, para que los ahorquemos delante de Jehová en Guibeá de Saúl el escogido de Jehová. Y el rey dijo: Yo los daré.

7 B ut the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of Jehovah's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

Y perdonó el rey a Mefi-bóset hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento de Jehová que hubo entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán hijo de Saúl.

8 A nd the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she had borne to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she had borne to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite;

Pero tomó el rey a dos hijos de Rizpá hija de Ajá, los cuales ella había tenido de Saúl, Armoní y Mefi-bóset, y a cinco hijos de Merab hija de Saúl, los cuales ella había tenido de Adriel hijo de Barzilay meholatita,

9 a nd he gave them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the hill before Jehovah. And they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the first days of the harvest, in the beginning of barley harvest.

y los entregó en manos de los gabaonitas, y ellos los ahorcaron en el monte delante de Jehová; y así murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron muertos en los primeros días de la siega, al comenzar la siega de la cebada.

10 T hen Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water poured on them out of the heavens, and suffered neither the fowl of the heavens to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.

Entonces Rizpá hija de Ajá tomó una tela de cilicio y la tendió para sí sobre el peñasco, desde el principio de la siega hasta que llovió sobre ellos agua del cielo; y no dejó que ninguna ave del cielo se posase sobre ellos de día, ni fieras del campo de noche.

11 A nd it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

Y fue dicho a David lo que hacía Rizpá hija de Ajá, concubina de Saúl.

12 A nd David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-Gilead, who had stolen them from the open place of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, the day the Philistines had smitten Saul in Gilboa;

Entonces David fue y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo, de los hombres de Jabés de Galaad, que los habían hurtado de la plaza de Bet-sán, donde los habían colgado los filisteos, cuando los filisteos mataron a Saúl en Gilboa;

13 a nd he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

e hizo llevar de allí los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo; y los juntaron con los huesos de los ahorcados.

14 A nd they buried with the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the sepulchre of Kish his father; and they did all that the king had commanded. And afterwards God was propitious to the land.

Y sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y los de su hijo Jonatán en tierra de Benjamín, en Zelá, en el sepulcro de Cis su padre; e hicieron todo lo que el rey había mandado. Y Dios fue propicio a la tierra después de esto. Abisay libra a David del gigante

15 A nd the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought with the Philistines. And David was exhausted.

Volvieron los filisteos a hacer la guerra a Israel, y descendió David y sus siervos con él, y pelearon con los filisteos; y David se hallaba extenuado.

16 A nd Ishbibenob, who was of the children of Raphah—the weight of his lance was three hundred shekels of bronze, and he was girded with new —thought to smite David.

E Isbí-benob, uno de los descendientes de los gigantes, cuya lanza pesaba trescientos siclos de bronce, y quien estaba ceñido con una espada nueva, trató de matar a David;

17 A nd Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the lamp of Israel.

mas Abisay hijo de Sarvia llegó en su ayuda, e hirió al filisteo y lo mató. Entonces los hombres de David le juraron, diciendo: Nunca más de aquí en adelante saldrás con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que se nos apague la antorcha de Israel. Los hombres de David matan a los gigantes

18 A nd it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines, at Gob; then Sibbechai the Hushathite smote Saph, who was of the children of Raphah.

Otra segunda guerra hubo después en Gob contra los filisteos; entonces Sibecay husatita mató a Saf, quien era uno de los descendientes de los gigantes.

19 A nd there was again a battle at Gob with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, smote Goliath the Gittite; now the shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam.

Hubo otra vez guerra en Gob contra los filisteos, en la cual Elhanán, hijo de Jaaré-oregim de Belén, mató a Goliat geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como el rodillo de un telar.

20 A nd there was again a battle, at Gath; and there was a man of great stature, that had on each hand six fingers, and on each foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to Raphah.

Después hubo otra guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía doce dedos en las manos, y otros doce en los pies, veinticuatro por todos; y también era descendiente de los gigantes.

21 A nd he defied Israel; but Jonathan the son of Shimea David's brother smote him.

Éste desafió a Israel, y lo mató Jonatán, hijo de Simá hermano de David.

22 T hese four were born to Raphah, in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Estos cuatro eran descendientes de los gigantes en Gat, los cuales sucumbieron a manos de David y de sus veteranos.
