1 B ut I myself, Paul, entreat you by the meekness and gentleness of the Christ, who, as to appearance, mean among you, but absent am bold towards you;

Yo mismo, Pablo, os ruego por la mansedumbre y clemencia de Cristo, yo que estando presente ciertamente soy tan poca cosa entre vosotros, mas ausente soy tan atrevido para con vosotros;

2 b ut I beseech that present I may not be bold with the confidence with which I think to be daring towards some who think of us as walking according to flesh.

ruego, pues, que cuando esté presente, no tenga que usar de aquella osadía con que me propongo proceder resueltamente contra algunos que nos consideran como si anduviésemos según la carne.

3 F or walking in flesh, we do not war according to flesh.

Pues aunque andamos en la carne, no militamos según la carne;

4 F or the arms of our warfare not fleshly, but powerful according to God to overthrow of strongholds;

porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales, sino poderosas en Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas,

5 o verthrowing reasonings and every high thing that lifts itself up against the knowledge of God, and leading captive every thought into the obedience of the Christ;

derribando argumentos y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios, y llevando cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia a Cristo,

6 a nd having in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience shall have been fulfilled.

y estando prontos para castigar toda desobediencia, cuando vuestra obediencia sea perfecta.

7 D o ye look at what concerns appearance? If any one has confidence in himself that he is of Christ, let him think this again in himself, that even as he of Christ, so also we.

Miráis las cosas según la apariencia. Si alguno está persuadido en sí mismo que es de Cristo, piense esto también por sí mismo, que como él es de Cristo, así también nosotros somos de Cristo.

8 F or and if I should boast even somewhat more abundantly of our authority, which the Lord has given for building up and not for your overthrowing, I shall not be put to shame;

Porque aunque me gloríe algo más todavía de nuestra autoridad, la cual el Señor nos dio para edificación y no para vuestra destrucción, no me avergonzaré;

9 t hat I may not seem as if I was frightening you by letters:

para que no parezca como que os quiero amedrentar mediante mis cartas.

10 b ecause his letters, he says, weighty and strong, but his presence in the body weak, and his speech naught.

Porque a la verdad, dicen, las cartas son duras y fuertes; mas la presencia corporal, débil, y la palabra, menospreciable.

11 L et such a one think this, that such as we are in word by letters absent, such also present in deed.

Esto tenga en cuenta tal persona, que cuales somos en la palabra por cartas, estando ausentes, tales somos también en hechos, estando presentes.

12 F or we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves; but these, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are not intelligent.

Porque no nos atrevemos a contarnos ni a compararnos con algunos que se alaban a sí mismos; pero ellos, midiéndose a sí mismos por sí mismos, y comparándose consigo mismos, no son sensatos.

13 N ow we will not boast out of measure, but according to the measure of the rule which the God of measure has apportioned to us, to reach to you also.

Pero nosotros no nos gloriaremos desmedidamente, sino conforme a la regla que Dios nos ha dado por medida, para llegar también hasta vosotros.

14 F or we do not, as not reaching to you, overstretch ourselves, (for we have come to you also in the glad tidings of the Christ;)

Porque no nos hemos extralimitado, como si no llegásemos hasta vosotros, pues fuimos los primeros en llegar hasta vosotros con el evangelio de Cristo.

15 n ot boasting out of measure in other people's labours, but having hope, your faith increasing, to be enlarged amongst you, according to our rule, yet more abundantly

No nos gloriamos desmedidamente en trabajos ajenos, sino que esperamos que conforme crezca vuestra fe, seremos muy engrandecidos entre vosotros, conforme a nuestra norma;

16 t o announce the glad tidings to that beyond you, not to be boasting in another's rule of things made ready to hand.

y que anunciaremos el evangelio en los lugares más allá de vosotros, sin entrar en la esfera de otro para gloriarnos en lo que ya estaba preparado.

17 B ut he that boasts, let him boast in the Lord.

Mas el que se gloría, gloríese en el Señor;

18 F or not he that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

porque no es aprobado el que se alaba a sí mismo, sino aquel a quien Dios alaba.
