1 A nd now, ye priests, this commandment is for you.

Ahora, pues, oh sacerdotes, para vosotros es este mandamiento.

2 I f ye do not hear, and if ye do not lay to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will even send the curse among you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have already cursed them, because ye do not lay to heart.

Si no escucháis, ni decidís de corazón dar gloria a mi nombre, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, enviaré maldición sobre vosotros, y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y aun las he maldecido ya, porque no lo habéis decidido de corazón.

3 B ehold, I will rebuke your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, the dung of your feasts; and they shall take you away with it.

He aquí, yo voy a maldecir la sementera para daño vuestro, y os echaré al rostro el estiércol, el estiércol de vuestros animales sacrificados, y seréis arrojados juntamente con él.

4 A nd ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Y sabréis que yo os envié este mandamiento, para que mi pacto fuese con Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

5 M y covenant with him was of life and peace, and I gave them to him that he might fear; and he feared me, and trembled before my name.

Mi pacto con él fue de vida y de paz, las cuales cosas yo le di; y de temor, y tuvo temor de mí, y guardó reverencia a mi nombre.

6 T he law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.

La ley de la verdad estuvo en su boca, y no fue hallada iniquidad en sus labios; anduvo conmigo en paz y en justicia, e hizo que muchos se apartasen de la iniquidad.

7 F or the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and at his mouth they seek the law; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

Porque los labios del sacerdote han de guardar la sabiduría, y de su boca el pueblo buscará la ley; porque él es el mensajero de Jehová de los ejércitos.

8 B ut ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Mas vosotros os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley; habéis corrompido el pacto de Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

9 A nd I also have made you contemptible and base before all the people, because ye have not kept my ways, but have respect of persons in the law.

Por tanto, yo también os he hecho despreciables y viles ante todo el pueblo, así como vosotros no habéis guardado mis caminos, y en la ley hacéis acepción de personas.

10 H ave we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? Why do we deal unfaithfully every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

¿No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios? ¿Por qué, pues, nos portamos deslealmente el uno contra el otro, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres?

11 J udah hath dealt unfaithfully, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the sanctuary of Jehovah which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

Prevaricó Judá, y en Israel y en Jerusalén se ha cometido abominación; porque Judá ha profanado el santuario de Jehová que él ama, y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extraño.

12 J ehovah will cut off from the tents of Jacob the man that doeth this, him that calleth and him that answereth; and him that offereth an oblation unto Jehovah of hosts.

Jehová cortará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que haga esto, al que vela y al que responde, y al que ofrece ofrenda a Jehová de los ejércitos.

13 A nd further ye do this: ye cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, insomuch that he regardeth not the oblation any more, nor receiveth with satisfaction at your hand.

Y esta otra cosa hacéis: cubrir el altar de Jehová de lágrimas, de llanto, y de clamor, porque no mira más vuestra ofrenda, ni la acepta con gusto de vuestras manos.

14 Y et ye say, Wherefore? Because Jehovah hath been a witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt unfaithfully: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

Y aun así decís: ¿Por qué? Porque Jehová es testigo entre ti y la mujer de tu juventud, contra la cual has sido desleal, siendo ella tu compañera, y la mujer de tu pacto.

15 A nd did not one make ? and the remnant of the Spirit was his. And wherefore the one? He sought a seed of God. Take heed then to your spirit, and let none deal unfaithfully against the wife of his youth,

¿No hizo él un solo ser, que tiene aliento de vida? ¿Y por qué uno? Porque buscaba una descendencia para Dios. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu, y no seáis desleales para con la mujer de vuestra juventud.

16 ( for I hate putting away, saith Jehovah the God of Israel;) and he covereth with violence his garment, saith Jehovah of hosts: take heed then to your spirit, that ye deal not unfaithfully.

Porque Jehová Dios de Israel ha dicho que él aborrece el repudio, y al que cubre de iniquidad su vestido, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu, y no seáis desleales. El día del juicio se acerca

17 Y e have wearied Jehovah with your words, and ye say, Wherein have we wearied ? In that ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of Jehovah, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Habéis hecho cansar a Jehová con vuestras palabras. Y decís: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? En que decís: Cualquiera que hace mal agrada a Jehová, y en los tales se complace; o si no, ¿dónde está el Dios del juicio?
