1 A fter these things I saw another angel descending out of the heaven, having great authority: and the earth was lightened with his glory.

Después de esto vi a otro ángel descender del cielo con gran potestad; y la tierra fue alumbrada con su resplandor.

2 A nd he cried with a strong voice, saying, Great Babylon has fallen, has fallen, and has become the habitation of demons, and a hold of every unclean spirit, and a hold of every unclean and hated bird;

Y clamó con voz potente, diciendo: Cayó, cayó la gran Babilonia, y se ha hecho habitación de demonios y guarida de todo espíritu inmundo, y albergue de toda ave inmunda y aborrecible.

3 b ecause all the nations have drunk of the wine of the fury of her fornication; and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have been enriched through the might of her luxury.

Porque todas las naciones han bebido del vino del ardor de su fornicación; y los reyes de la tierra han fornicado con ella, y los mercaderes de la tierra se han enriquecido de la potencia de sus deleites.

4 A nd I heard another voice out of the heaven saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye have not fellowship in her sins, and that ye do not receive of her plagues:

Y oí otra voz del cielo, que decía: Salid de ella, pueblo mío, para que no seáis partícipes de sus pecados, ni recibáis nada procedente de sus plagas;

5 f or her sins have been heaped on one another up to the heaven, and God has remembered her unrighteousnesses.

porque sus pecados se han amontonado hasta el cielo, y Dios se ha acordado de sus maldades.

6 R ecompense her even as she has recompensed; and double double, according to her works. In the cup which she has mixed, mix to her double.

Dadle a ella como ella os ha dado, y pagadle doble según sus obras; en la copa en que ella preparó bebida, preparadle a ella el doble.

7 S o much as she has glorified herself and lived luxuriously, so much torment and grief give to her. Because she says in her heart, I sit a queen, and I am not a widow; and I shall in no wise see grief:

En proporción a lo que ella se ha glorificado y ha vivido en deleites, dadle así también de tormento y duelo; porque dice en su corazón: Yo estoy sentada como reina, y no soy viuda, y nunca jamás veré duelo;

8 f or this reason in one day shall her plagues come, death and grief and famine, and she shall be burnt with fire; for strong Lord God who has judged her.

por eso, en un solo día vendrán sus plagas; muerte, duelo y hambre, y será quemada con fuego; porque poderoso es Dios el Señor, que la ha sentenciado.

9 A nd the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication, and lived luxuriously with her, shall weep and wail over her, when they see the smoke of her burning,

Y los reyes de la tierra que han fornicado con ella, y con ella han vivido en deleites, llorarán y harán lamentación sobre ella, cuando vean el humo de su incendio,

10 s tanding afar off, through fear of her torment, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour thy judgment is come.

parándose lejos por el temor de su tormento, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de la gran ciudad de Babilonia, la ciudad fuerte; porque en una hora vino tu juicio!

11 A nd the merchants of the earth weep and grieve over her, because no one buys their lading any more;

Y los mercaderes de la tierra lloran y hacen lamentación sobre ella, porque ninguno compra más sus mercancías;

12 l ading of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and pearl, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet dye, and all thyine wood, and every article in ivory, and every article in most precious wood, and in brass, and in iron, and in marble,

cargamentos de oro, de plata, de piedras preciosas, de perlas, de lino fino, de púrpura, de seda, de escarlata, de toda madera olorosa, de todo objeto de marfil, de todo objeto de madera preciosa, de cobre, de hierro y de mármol;

13 a nd cinnamon, and amomum, and incense, and unguent, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep, and of horses, and of chariots, and of bodies, and souls of men.

y canela, especias aromáticas, incienso, mirra, olíbano, vino, aceite, flor de harina, trigo, bestias de carga, ovejas, caballos, carros, esclavos, y vidas humanas.

14 A nd the ripe fruits which were the lust of thy soul have departed from thee, and all fair and splendid things have perished from thee, and they shall not find them any more at all.

Los frutos codiciados por tu alma se apartaron de ti, y todas las cosas exquisitas y espléndidas han desaparecido de ti, y nunca más las hallarás.

15 T he merchants of these things, who had been enriched through her, shall stand afar off through fear of her torment, weeping and grieving,

Los mercaderes de estas cosas, que se han enriquecido a costa de ella, se pararán lejos por el temor de su tormento, llorando y lamentándose,

16 s aying, Woe, woe, the great city, which clothed with fine linen and purple and scarlet, and had ornaments of gold and precious stones and pearls!

y diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de la gran ciudad, que estaba cubierta de lino fino, de púrpura y de escarlata, y estaba adornada de oro, de piedras preciosas y de perlas!

17 f or in one hour so great riches has been made desolate. And every steersman, and every one who sailed to any place, and sailors, and all who exercise their calling on the sea, stood afar off,

Porque en una hora han sido consumidas tantas riquezas. Y todo piloto, y todos los que viajan en naves, y marineros, y todos los que trabajan en el mar, se pararon lejos;

18 a nd cried, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, What is like to the great city?

y viendo el humo de su incendio, gritaron, diciendo: ¿Qué ciudad era semejante a esta gran ciudad?

19 a nd cast dust upon their heads, and cried, weeping and grieving, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, in which all that had ships in the sea were enriched through her costliness! for in one hour she has been made desolate.

Y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas, y gritaron, llorando y lamentándose, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de la gran ciudad, en la cual todos los que tenían naves en el mar se habían enriquecido de sus riquezas; pues en una hora ha sido desolada!

20 R ejoice over her, heaven, and saints and apostles and prophets; for God has judged your judgment upon her.

Alégrate sobre ella, cielo, y vosotros, santos, apóstoles y profetas; porque Dios ha pronunciado juicio a vuestro favor contra ella.

21 A nd a strong angel took up a stone, as a great millstone, and cast into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall Babylon the great city be cast down, and shall be found no more at all;

Y un ángel poderoso tomó una piedra, como una gran piedra de molino, y la arrojó al mar, diciendo: Con el mismo ímpetu será derribada Babilonia, la gran ciudad, y nunca más será hallada.

22 a nd voice of harp-singers and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters shall not be heard any more at all in thee, and no artificer of any art shall be found any more at all in thee, and voice of millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee,

Y sonido de arpistas, de músicos, de flautistas y de trompeteros no se oirá ya más en ti; y ningún artífice de ningún oficio se hallará más en ti, ni ruido de molino se oirá más en ti.

23 a nd light of lamp shall shine no more at all in thee, and voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard no more at all in thee; for thy merchants were the great ones of the earth; for by thy sorcery have all the nations been deceived.

Luz de lámpara no alumbrará más en ti, y la voz del novio y de la novia no se oirá ya más en ti; porque tus mercaderes eran los magnates de la tierra; pues por tus hechicerías fueron engañadas todas las naciones.

24 A nd in her was found blood of prophets and saints, and of all the slain upon the earth.

Y en ella se halló la sangre de los profetas y de los santos, y de todos los que han sido degollados sobre la tierra.
