1 A nd all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías, el cual tenía dieciséis años de edad, y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.

2 I t was he that built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.

Uzías reedificó a Elot, y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey Amasías durmió con sus padres.

3 U zziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

De dieciséis años era Uzías cuando comenzó a reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Jecolías, de Jerusalén.

4 A nd he did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

E hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre.

5 A nd he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and in the days that he sought Jehovah, God made him to prosper.

Y persistió en buscar a Dios en los días de Zacarías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días en que buscó a Jehová, él le prosperó.

6 A nd he went forth and fought against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

Y salió y peleó contra los filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gat, y el muro de Jabné, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod, y en la tierra de los filisteos.

7 A nd God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-Baal, and the Maonites.

Dios le dio ayuda contra los filisteos y contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur-báal, y contra los amonitas.

8 A nd the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad to the entrance of Egypt; for he became exceeding strong.

Y dieron los amonitas presentes a Uzías, y se divulgó su fama hasta la frontera de Egipto; porque se había hecho altamente poderoso.

9 A nd Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the angle, and fortified them.

Edificó también Uzías torres en Jerusalén, junto a la puerta del ángulo, y junto a la puerta del valle, y junto a las esquinas; y las fortificó.

10 A nd he built towers in the desert and digged many cisterns; for he had much cattle, both in the lowland and on the plateau, husbandmen and vinedressers on the mountains and in Carmel; for he loved husbandry.

Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas; porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en la Sefelá como en las vegas, y viñas y huertas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.

11 A nd Uzziah had an army of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

Tuvo también Uzías un ejército de guerreros, los cuales salían a la guerra en divisiones, de acuerdo con la lista hecha por mano de Jeiel escriba, y de Maasías gobernador, y de Hananías, uno de los jefes del rey.

12 T he whole number of the chief fathers of the mighty men of valour was two thousand six hundred.

El número total de los jefes de familia, valientes y esforzados, era dos mil seiscientos.

13 A nd under their hand was an army-host of three hundred and seven thousand five hundred, that made war with mighty power to help the king against the enemy.

Y bajo la mano de éstos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes, para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.

14 A nd Uzziah prepared for them, throughout the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and even slinging-stones.

Y Uzías preparó para todo el ejército escudos, lanzas, yelmos, coseletes, arcos y hondas para tirar piedras.

15 A nd he made in Jerusalem machines invented by skilful men, to be upon the towers and upon the bulwarks, wherewith to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he became strong.

E hizo en Jerusalén máquinas inventadas por ingenieros, para que estuviesen en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras. Y su fama se extendió lejos, porque fue maravilloso el modo como supo buscarse colaboradores, hasta hacerse poderoso.

16 B ut when he became strong his heart was lifted up to downfall; and he transgressed against Jehovah his God, and went into the temple of Jehovah to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

Mas cuando ya era fuerte, su corazón se enalteció para su ruina; porque se rebeló contra Jehová su Dios, entrando en el templo de Jehová para quemar incienso en el altar del incienso.

17 A nd Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him priests of Jehovah, eighty valiant men;

Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Jehová, varones valientes.

18 a nd they withstood Uzziah the king, and said to him, It is not for thee, Uzziah, to burn incense to Jehovah, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast transgressed; neither shall it be for thine honour from Jehovah Elohim.

Y se pusieron contra el rey Uzías, y le dijeron: No te corresponde a ti, oh Uzías, el quemar incienso a Jehová, sino a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo. Sal del santuario, porque has prevaricado, y no te será para gloria delante de Jehová Dios.

19 A nd Uzziah was wroth; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of Jehovah, beside the incense altar.

Entonces Uzías, teniendo en la mano un incensario para ofrecer incienso, se llenó de ira; y en su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le brotó en la frente, delante de los sacerdotes en la casa de Jehová, junto al altar del incienso.

20 A nd Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked upon him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; even he himself hasted to go out, because Jehovah had smitten him.

Y le miró el sumo sacerdote Azarías, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí que la lepra estaba en su frente; y le hicieron salir apresuradamente de aquel lugar; y él también se dio prisa a salir, porque Jehová le había herido.

21 A nd Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Jehovah. And Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

Así el rey Uzías fue leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó leproso en una casa apartada, por lo cual fue excluido de la casa de Jehová; y Jotam su hijo tuvo cargo de la casa real, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.

22 A nd the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz write.

Los demás hechos de Uzías, primeros y postreros, fueron escritos por el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz.

23 A nd Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the burial-ground of the kings, for they said, He is a leper. And Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Uzías con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Jotam su hijo en lugar suyo.
