1 T he priests, the Levites, the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: Jehovah's offerings by fire, and his inheritance shall they eat,

Los sacerdotes levitas, es decir, toda la tribu de Leví, no tendrán parte ni heredad en Israel; de los manjares ofrecidos a Jehová y de la heredad de él comerán.

2 b ut they shall have no inheritance among their brethren: Jehovah, he is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.

No tendrán, pues, heredad entre sus hermanos; Jehová es su herencia, como él les ha dicho.

3 A nd this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that sacrifice a sacrifice, whether ox, or sheep: they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the jawbones, and the maw.

Y éste será el derecho de los sacerdotes de parte del pueblo: los que ofrezcan en sacrificio buey o cordero darán al sacerdote la espaldilla, las quijadas y el cuajar.

4 T he firstfruits of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstfruits of the shearing of thy sheep, shalt thou give him;

Las primicias de tu grano, de tu vino y de tu aceite, y las primicias de la lana de tus ovejas le darás;

5 f or Jehovah thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, that he may stand to serve in the name of Jehovah, he and his sons continually.

porque le ha escogido Jehová tu Dios de entre todas tus tribus, para que esté para administrar en el nombre de Jehová, él y sus hijos para siempre.

6 A nd if the Levite shall come from one of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourneth, and shall come according to all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah will choose,

Y cuando salga un levita de alguna de tus ciudades de entre todo Israel, donde haya vivido, porque tuviera un gran deseo en su alma de ministrar en el lugar escogido por Jehová,

7 a nd shall serve in the name of Jehovah his God, as all his brethren the Levites that stand there before Jehovah,

ministrará en el nombre de Jehová su Dios, como todos sus hermanos los levitas que estén establecidos allí delante de Jehová.

8 — they shall have like portions to eat, besides that which he hath sold of his patrimony.

Igual ración a la de los otros comerá, además de lo que obtenga de sus propios bienes. Contra costumbres paganas

9 W hen thou art come into the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.

Cuando entres en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da, no aprenderás a hacer según las abominaciones de aquellas naciones.

10 T here shall not be found among you he that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, that useth divination, that useth auguries, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,

No sea hallado en ti quien haga pasar a su hijo o a su hija por el fuego, ni quien practique adivinación, ni agorero, ni sortílego, ni hechicero,

11 o r a charmer, or one that inquireth of a spirit of Python, or a soothsayer, or one that consulteth the dead.

ni encantador, ni adivino, ni mago, ni quien consulte a los muertos.

12 F or every one that doeth these things is an abomination to Jehovah, and because of these abominations Jehovah thy God doth dispossess them from before thee.

Porque es abominación para con Jehová cualquiera que hace estas cosas, y por estas abominaciones Jehová tu Dios echa estas naciones de delante de ti.

13 T hou shalt be perfect with Jehovah thy God.

Perfecto serás delante de Jehová tu Dios.

14 F or these nations, which thou shalt dispossess, hearkened unto those that use auguries, and that use divination; but as for thee, Jehovah thy God hath not suffered thee so.

Porque estas naciones que vas a heredar, a agoreros y a adivinos oyen; mas a ti no te ha permitido esto Jehová tu Dios.

15 J ehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him shall ye hearken;

Profeta de en medio de ti, de tus hermanos, como yo, te levantará Jehová tu Dios; a él oiréis.

16 a ccording to all that thou desiredst of Jehovah thy God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Jehovah my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

Esto es exactamente lo que pediste a Jehová tu Dios en Horeb el día de la asamblea, diciendo: No vuelva yo a oír la voz de Jehová mi Dios, ni vea yo más este gran fuego, para que no muera.

17 A nd Jehovah said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

Y Jehová me dijo: Han hablado bien en lo que han dicho.

18 A prophet will I raise up unto them from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

Profeta les levantaré de en medio de sus hermanos, como tú; y pondré mis palabras en su boca, y él les hablará todo lo que yo le mande.

19 A nd it shall come to pass that the man who hearkeneth not unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

Mas a cualquiera que no oiga mis palabras que él hable en mi nombre, yo le pediré cuenta.

20 B ut the prophet who shall presume to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.

El profeta que tenga la presunción de hablar palabra en mi nombre, a quien yo no le haya mandado hablar, o que hable en nombre de dioses ajenos, el tal profeta morirá.

21 A nd if thou say in thy heart, How shall we know the word that Jehovah hath not spoken?

Y si dices en tu corazón: ¿Cómo conoceremos la palabra que Jehová no ha hablado?;

22 W hen a prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, and the thing followeth not, nor cometh to pass, that is the word which Jehovah hath not spoken; the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: be not afraid of him.

si el profeta habla en nombre de Jehová, y no se cumple lo que dijo, ni acontece, es palabra que Jehová no ha hablado; con presunción la habló el tal profeta; no tengas temor de él.
