1 A nd he said also to disciples, There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and he was accused to him as wasting his goods.

Decía también a sus discípulos: Había un hombre rico que tenía un mayordomo, y éste fue acusado ante él como disipador de sus bienes.

2 A nd having called him, he said to him, What this that I hear of thee? give the reckoning of thy stewardship, for thou canst be no longer steward.

Entonces le llamó, y le dijo: ¿Qué es esto que oigo acerca de ti? Presenta las cuentas de tu administración, porque ya no podrás más ser mayordomo.

3 A nd the steward said within himself, What shall I do; for my lord is taking the stewardship from me? I am not able to dig; I am ashamed to beg.

Entonces el mayordomo dijo para sí: ¿Qué haré? Porque mi amo me quita la mayordomía. Para cavar, no tengo fuerzas; mendigar, me da vergüenza.

4 I know what I will do, that when I shall have been removed from the stewardship I may be received into their houses.

Ya sé lo que haré para que cuando se me destituya de la mayordomía, me reciban en sus casas.

5 A nd having called to each one of the debtors of his own lord, he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?

Y llamando a cada uno de los deudores de su amo, dijo al primero: ¿Cuánto debes a mi amo?

6 A nd he said, A hundred baths of oil. And he said to him, Take thy writing and sit down quickly and write fifty.

Él dijo: Cien barriles de aceite. Y le dijo: Toma tu recibo, siéntate pronto, y escribe cincuenta.

7 T hen he said to another, And thou, how much dost thou owe? And he said, A hundred cors of wheat. And he says to him, Take thy writing and write eighty.

Después dijo a otro: Y tú, ¿cuánto debes? Y él dijo: Cien medidas de trigo. Él le dijo: Toma tu recibo, y escribe ochenta.

8 A nd the lord praised the unrighteous steward because he had done prudently. For the sons of this world are, for their own generation, more prudent than the sons of light.

Y alabó el amo al mayordomo injusto por haber obrado sagazmente; porque los hijos de este siglo son más sagaces en el trato con sus semejantes que los hijos de luz.

9 A nd I say to you, Make to yourselves friends with the mammon of unrighteousness, that when it fails ye may be received into the eternal tabernacles.

Y yo os digo: Ganad amigos por medio de las riquezas injustas, para que cuando tengáis que dejarlas, os reciban en las moradas eternas.

10 H e that is faithful in the least is faithful also in much; and he that is unrighteous in the least is unrighteous also in much.

El que es fiel en lo muy poco, también es fiel en lo mucho; y el que es injusto en lo muy poco, también es injusto en lo mucho.

11 I f therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who shall entrust to you the true?

Pues si no fuisteis fieles en las riquezas injustas, ¿quién os confiará lo verdadero?

12 a nd if ye have not been faithful in that which is another's, who shall give to you your own?

Y si en lo ajeno no fuisteis fieles, ¿quién os dará lo que es vuestro?

13 N o servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will cleave to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Ningún siervo puede servir a dos señores; porque o aborrecerá al uno y amará al otro, o estimará al uno y menospreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y a las riquezas.

14 A nd the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things, and mocked him.

Y oían también todas estas cosas los fariseos, que eran avaros, y se burlaban de él.

15 A nd he said to them, Ye are they who justify themselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for what amongst men is highly thought of is an abomination before God.

Entonces les dijo: Vosotros sois los que os justificáis a vosotros mismos delante de los hombres; pero Dios conoce vuestros corazones; porque lo que los hombres tienen por muy estimable, delante de Dios es abominación. La ley y el reino de Dios

16 T he law and the prophets until John: from that time the glad tidings of the kingdom of God are announced, and every one forces his way into it.

La ley y los profetas eran hasta Juan; desde entonces se predica la Buena Nueva del reino de Dios, y todos se esfuerzan por entrar en él.

17 B ut it is easier that the heaven and the earth should pass away than that one tittle of the law should fail.

Pero más fácil es que pasen el cielo y la tierra, que se frustre una tilde de la ley. Jesucristo enseña sobre el divorcio

18 E very one who puts away his wife and marries another commits adultery; and every one that marries one put away from a husband commits adultery.

Todo el que repudia a su mujer, y se casa con otra, comete adulterio; y el que se casa con la repudiada del marido, comete adulterio. El rico y Lázaro

19 N ow there was a rich man and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, making good cheer in splendour every day.

Había un hombre rico, que se vestía de púrpura y de lino fino, y celebraba todos los días fiestas espléndidas.

20 A nd a poor man, by name Lazarus, was laid at his gateway full of sores,

Había también un mendigo llamado Lázaro, que estaba echado a la puerta de aquél, lleno de llagas,

21 a nd desiring to be filled with the crumbs which fell from the table of the rich man; but the dogs also coming licked his sores.

y ansiaba saciarse de las migajas que caían de la mesa del rico; y aun los perros venían y le lamían las llagas.

22 A nd it came to pass that the poor man died, and that he was carried away by the angels into the bosom of Abraham. And the rich man also died and was buried.

Aconteció que murió el mendigo, y fue llevado por los ángeles al seno de Abraham; y murió también el rico, y fue sepultado.

23 A nd in hades lifting up his eyes, being in torments, he sees Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Y en el Hades alzó sus ojos, estando en tormentos, y vio de lejos a Abraham, y a Lázaro en su seno.

24 A nd he crying out said, Father Abraham, have compassion on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering in this flame.

Entonces él, dando voces, dijo: Padre Abraham, ten compasión de mí, y envía a Lázaro para que moje la punta de su dedo en agua, y refresque mi lengua; porque estoy atormentado en esta llama.

25 B ut Abraham said, Child, recollect that thou hast fully received thy good things in thy lifetime, and likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted here, and thou art in suffering.

Pero Abraham le dijo: Hijo, acuérdate que recibiste tus bienes en tu vida, y Lázaro, del mismo modo, males; pero ahora éste es consolado aquí, y tú atormentado.

26 A nd besides all this, between us and you a great chasm is fixed, so that those who desire to pass hence to you cannot, nor do they who from there pass over unto us.

Además de todo esto, una gran sima está puesta entre nosotros y vosotros, de manera que los que quieran pasar de aquí a vosotros, no puedan, ni de allá pasar acá.

27 A nd he said, I beseech thee then, father, that thou wouldest send him to the house of my father,

Entonces le dijo: Te ruego, pues, padre, que le envíes a la casa de mi padre,

28 f or I have five brothers, so that he may earnestly testify to them, that they also may not come to this place of torment.

porque tengo cinco hermanos, para que les prevenga seriamente, a fin de que no vengan ellos también a este lugar de tormento.

29 B ut Abraham says to him, They have Moses and the prophets: let them hear them.

Y Abraham le dijo: A Moisés y a los profetas tienen; ¡que los oigan!

30 B ut he said, Nay, father Abraham, but if one from the dead should go to them, they will repent.

Él entonces dijo: No, padre Abraham; sino que si alguno va a ellos de entre los muertos, se arrepentirán.

31 A nd he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, not even if one rise from among dead will they be persuaded.

Mas Abraham le dijo: Si no oyen a Moisés y a los profetas, tampoco se persuadirán aunque alguno se levante de los muertos.
