1 A nd they journeyed from Elim, and the whole assembly of the children of Israel came into the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure out of the land of Egypt.

Partió luego de Elim toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, y vino al desierto de Sin, que está entre Elim y Sinay, a los quince días del segundo mes después que salieron de la tierra de Egipto.

2 A nd the whole assembly of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness.

Y toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón en el desierto;

3 A nd the children of Israel said to them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we ate bread to the full; for ye have brought us out into this wilderness, to kill this whole congregation with hunger!

y les decían los hijos de Israel: Ojalá hubiéramos muerto por mano de Jehová en la tierra de Egipto, cuando nos sentábamos a las ollas de carne, cuando comíamos pan hasta saciarnos; pues nos habéis sacado a este desierto para matar de hambre a toda esta multitud.

4 T hen said Jehovah to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather the daily need on its day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.

Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: He aquí yo os haré llover pan del cielo; y el pueblo saldrá, y recogerá diariamente la porción de un día, para que yo lo pruebe si anda en mi ley, o no.

5 A nd it shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare what they have brought in; and it shall be twice as much as they shall gather daily.

Mas en el sexto día prepararán para guardar el doble de lo que suelen recoger cada día.

6 A nd Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, In the evening, then shall ye know that Jehovah has brought you out from the land of Egypt;

Entonces dijeron Moisés y Aarón a todos los hijos de Israel: En la tarde sabréis que Jehová os ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto,

7 a nd in the morning, then shall ye see the glory of Jehovah; for he has heard your murmurings against Jehovah;—and what are we, that ye murmur against us?

y a la mañana veréis la gloria de Jehová; porque él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra Jehová; porque nosotros, ¿qué somos, para que vosotros murmuréis contra nosotros?

8 A nd Moses said, When Jehovah gives you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for Jehovah hears your murmurings which ye murmur against him … and what we? your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.

Dijo también Moisés: Jehová os dará en la tarde carne para comer, y en la mañana pan hasta saciaros; porque Jehová ha oído vuestras murmuraciones con que habéis murmurado contra él; porque nosotros, ¿qué somos? Vuestras murmuraciones no son contra nosotros, sino contra Jehová.

9 A nd Moses spoke to Aaron, Say to all the assembly of the children of Israel, Come near into the presence of Jehovah; for he has heard your murmurings.

Y dijo Moisés a Aarón: Di a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel: Acercaos a la presencia de Jehová, porque él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones.

10 A nd it came to pass, when Aaron spoke to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, that they turned toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud.

Y hablando Aarón a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, miraron hacia el desierto, y he aquí la gloria de Jehová apareció en la nube.

11 A nd Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

Y Jehová habló a Moisés, diciendo:

12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak to them, saying, Between the two evenings ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah your God.

Yo he oído las murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel; háblales, diciendo: Al caer la tarde comeréis carne, y por la mañana os saciaréis de pan, y sabréis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.

13 A nd it came to pass in the evening, that quails came up, and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay round the camp.

Y venida la tarde, subieron codornices que cubrieron el campamento; y por la mañana descendió rocío en derredor del campamento.

14 A nd when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, on the face of the wilderness there was fine, granular, fine as hoar-frost, on the ground.

Y cuando el rocío cesó de descender, he aquí sobre el haz del desierto una cosa menuda, redonda, menuda como una escarcha sobre la tierra.

15 A nd the children of Israel saw, and said one to another, What is it? for they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, This is the bread which Jehovah has given you to eat.

Y viéndolo los hijos de Israel, se dijeron unos a otros: ¿Qué es esto?, porque no sabían qué era. Entonces Moisés les dijo: Es el pan que Jehová os da para comer.

16 T his is the thing which Jehovah has commanded: Gather of it every man according to what he can eat, an omer a poll, the number of your persons: ye shall take every man for those that are in his tent.

Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Recoged de él cada uno según lo que pueda comer; un omer por cabeza, conforme al número de vuestras personas, tomaréis cada uno para los que están en su tienda.

17 A nd the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some much, some little.

Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así; y recogieron unos más, otros menos;

18 A nd they measured with the omer: then he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little wanted nothing: they had gathered every man according to the measure of his eating.

y lo medían por gomer, y no sobró al que había recogido mucho, ni faltó al que había recogido poco; cada uno recogió conforme a lo que había de comer.

19 A nd Moses said to them, Let no man leave of it until the morning.

Y les dijo Moisés: Ninguno deje nada de ello para mañana.

20 B ut they did not hearken to Moses; and some men left of it until the morning; then worms bred in it and it stank. And Moses was wroth with them.

Mas ellos no obedecieron a Moisés, sino que algunos dejaron de ello para otro día, y crió gusanos, y hedió; y se enojó contra ellos Moisés.

21 A nd they gathered it every morning, every man as much as he could eat; and when the sun became hot, it melted.

Y lo recogían cada mañana, cada uno según lo que había de comer; y luego que el sol calentaba, se derretía.

22 A nd it came to pass on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one; and all the princes of the assembly came and told Moses.

En el sexto día recogieron doble porción de comida, dos omeres para cada uno; y todos los príncipes de la congregación vinieron y se lo hicieron saber a Moisés.

23 A nd he said to them, This is what Jehovah has said: To-morrow is the rest, the holy sabbath, of Jehovah: bake what ye will bake, and cook what ye will cook; and lay up for yourselves all that remains over, to be kept for the morning.

Y él les dijo: Esto es lo que ha dicho Jehová: Mañana es el santo día de reposo, el sábado consagrado a Jehová; lo que habéis de cocer, cocedlo hoy, y lo que habéis de cocinar, cocinadlo; y todo lo que os sobre, guardadlo para mañana.

24 A nd they laid it up for the morning, as Moses had commanded; and it did not stink, neither was there any worm in it.

Y ellos lo guardaron hasta el día siguiente, según lo que Moisés había mandado, y no se agusanó, ni hedió.

25 A nd Moses said, Eat it to-day; for to-day is sabbath to Jehovah: to-day ye shall not find it in the field.

Y dijo Moisés: Comedlo hoy, porque hoy es día de sábado para Jehová; hoy no hallaréis en el campo.

26 S ix days shall ye gather it; but on the seventh day is sabbath: on it there shall be none.

Seis días lo recogeréis; mas el séptimo día es sábado; en él no se hallará.

27 A nd it came to pass on the seventh day that there went out from the people to gather, and they found none.

Y aconteció que algunos del pueblo salieron en el séptimo día a recoger, y no hallaron.

28 A nd Jehovah said to Moses, How long do ye refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?

Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: ¿Hasta cuándo no querréis guardar mis mandamientos y mis leyes?

29 S ee, for Jehovah hath given you the sabbath; therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread for two days. Abide every man in his place: let no man go from his place on the seventh day.

Mirad que Jehová os dio el día de sábado, y por eso en el sexto día os da pan para dos días. Estése, pues, cada uno en su lugar, y nadie salga de él en el séptimo día.

30 A nd the people rested on the seventh day.

Así el pueblo reposó el séptimo día.

31 A nd the house of Israel called its name Manna; and it was like coriander-seed, white; and the taste of it was like cake with honey.

Y la casa de Israel lo llamó Maná; y era como semilla de culantro, blanco, y su sabor como de hojuelas con miel.

32 A nd Moses said, This is the thing which Jehovah has commanded: Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread that I gave you to eat in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.

Y dijo Moisés: Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Llenad un omer de él, y guardadlo para vuestros descendientes, a fin de que vean el pan que yo os di a comer en el desierto, cuando yo os saqué de la tierra de Egipto.

33 A nd Moses said to Aaron, Take a pot, and put in it an omer full of manna, and deposit it before Jehovah, to be kept for your generations.

Y dijo Moisés a Aarón: Toma una vasija y pon en ella un gomer de maná, y ponlo delante de Jehová, para que sea guardado para vuestros descendientes.

34 A s Jehovah had commanded Moses, so Aaron deposited it before the Testimony, to be kept.

Y Aarón lo puso delante del Testimonio para guardarlo, como Jehová lo mandó a Moisés.

35 A nd the children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came into an inhabited land: they ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.

Así comieron los hijos de Israel maná cuarenta años, hasta que llegaron a tierra habitada; maná comieron hasta que llegaron a los límites de la tierra de Canaán.

36 N ow an omer is the tenth of an ephah.

Y un gomer es la décima parte de un efa.
