1 A nd Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance; and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.

Tenía, pues, Josafat riquezas y gloria en abundancia; y emparentó con Acab.

2 A nd after years he went down to Ahab, to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that were with him, and urged him to go up against Ramoth-Gilead.

Y después de algunos años descendió a Samaria para visitar a Acab; por lo que Acab mató muchas ovejas y bueyes para él y para la gente que con él venía, y le persuadió que fuese con él contra Ramot de Galaad.

3 A nd Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-Gilead? And he said to him, I am as thou, and my people as thy people; and with thee in the war.

Y dijo Acab rey de Israel a Josafat rey de Judá: ¿Quieres venir conmigo contra Ramot de Galaad? Y él respondió: Yo soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo; iremos contigo a la batalla.

4 A nd Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, this day of the word of Jehovah.

Además dijo Josafat al rey de Israel: Te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

5 A nd the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, Shall we go against Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, and God will give it into the king's hand.

Entonces el rey de Israel reunió a cuatrocientos profetas, y les preguntó: ¿Debo atacar a Ramot de Galaad, o desistiré de hacerlo? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Dios los entregará en mano del rey.

6 B ut Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we might inquire of him?

Pero Josafat dijo: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta de Jehová, para que por medio de él preguntemos?

7 A nd the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah; but I hate him, for he prophesies no good concerning me, but always evil: Micah the son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

El rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: Aún hay aquí un hombre por el cual podemos preguntar a Jehová; mas yo le aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza el bien, sino siempre el mal. Éste es Miqueas hijo de Imlá. Y respondió Josafat: No hable así el rey.

8 T hen the king of Israel called a chamberlain, and said, Fetch quickly Micah the son of Imlah.

Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Haz venir luego a Miqueas hijo de Imlá.

9 A nd the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, having put on their robes, sat each on his throne; and they sat in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

Y el rey de Israel y Josafat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, vestidos con sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria, y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

10 A nd Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself horns of iron, and he said, Thus saith Jehovah: With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have exterminated them.

Y Sedequías hijo de Quenaaná se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y decía: Así ha dicho Jehová: Con éstos acornearás a los sirios hasta destruirlos por completo.

11 A nd all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-Gilead, and prosper; for Jehovah will give it into the king's hand.

De esta manera profetizaban también todos los profetas, diciendo: Sube contra Ramot de Galaad, y serás prosperado; porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

12 A nd the messenger that went to call Micah spoke to him saying, Behold, the words of the prophets good to the king with one assent: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and declare good.

Y el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Miqueas, le habló diciendo: Mira que los profetas a una voz anuncian al rey cosas buenas; yo, pues, te ruego que tu palabra sea como la de uno de ellos, que anuncies el bien.

13 A nd Micah said, As Jehovah liveth, even what my God shall say, that will I declare.

Dijo Miqueas: Vive Jehová, que lo que mi Dios me diga, eso anunciaré. Y vino al rey.

14 A nd he came to the king. And the king said to him, Micah, shall we go against Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper; and they will be given into your hands.

Y el rey le dijo: Miqueas, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o me estaré quieto? Él respondió: Subid, y seréis prosperados, pues serán entregados en vuestras manos.

15 A nd the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but truth in the name of Jehovah?

El rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces te conjuraré por el nombre de Jehová que no me hables sino la verdad?

16 A nd he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And Jehovah said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

Entonces Miqueas dijo: He visto a todo Israel derramado por los montes como ovejas sin pastor; y dijo Jehová: Éstos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno en paz a su casa.

17 A nd the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he prophesies no good concerning me, but evil?

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te había yo dicho que no me profetizaría el bien, sino el mal?

18 A nd he said, Hear ye therefore the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left;

Entonces él dijo: Oíd, pues, palabra de Jehová: Yo he visto a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba a su mano derecha y a su izquierda.

19 a nd Jehovah said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-Gilead? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

Y Jehová preguntó: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab rey de Israel, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Y uno decía así, y otro decía de otra manera.

20 A nd there came forth a spirit, and stood before Jehovah and said, I will entice him. And Jehovah said unto him, Wherewith?

Entonces salió un espíritu que se puso delante de Jehová y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y Jehová le dijo: ¿De qué modo?

21 A nd he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt entice, and also succeed: go forth, and do so.

Y él dijo: Saldré y seré espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos sus profetas. Y Jehová dijo: Tú le inducirás, y lo lograrás; anda y hazlo así.

22 A nd now, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets; and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning thee.

Y ahora he aquí Jehová ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de estos tus profetas; pues Jehová ha predicho el mal contra ti.

23 T hen Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micah upon the cheek, and said, Which way now went the Spirit of Jehovah from me to speak to thee?

Entonces Sedequías hijo de Quenaaná se le acercó y dio una bofetada a Miqueas, y le dijo: ¿Por qué camino se fue de mí el Espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?

24 A nd Micah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go from chamber to chamber to hide thyself.

Y Miqueas respondió: He aquí tú lo verás aquel día, cuando vayas de cámara en cámara para esconderte.

25 A nd the king of Israel said, Take ye Micah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: Prended a Miqueas, y llevadlo a Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás hijo del rey,

26 a nd ye shall say, Thus says the king: Put this in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.

y decidles: Así ha dicho el rey: Poned a éste en la cárcel, y tenedle a escasa ración de pan y agua, hasta que yo vuelva victorioso.

27 A nd Micah said, If thou return at all in peace, Jehovah has not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O peoples, all of you!

Y Miqueas dijo: Si tú vuelves victorioso, Jehová no ha hablado por mí. Dijo además: Oíd, pueblos todos.

28 A nd the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-Gilead.

Subieron, pues, el rey de Israel, y Josafat rey de Judá, a Ramot de Galaad.

29 A nd the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.

Y dijo el rey de Israel a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré para entrar en la batalla, pero tú vístete tus ropas reales. Y se disfrazó el rey de Israel, y entró en la batalla.

30 A nd the king of Syria commanded the captains of his chariots saying, Fight neither with small nor great, but with the king of Israel only.

Había el rey de Siria mandado a los capitanes de los carros que tenía consigo, diciendo: No ataquéis ni a chico ni a grande, sino sólo al rey de Israel.

31 A nd it came to pass when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, That is the king of Israel; and they surrounded him to fight; and Jehoshaphat cried out, and Jehovah helped him; and God diverted them from him.

Cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Éste es el rey de Israel. Y lo rodearon para pelear; mas Josafat clamó, y Jehová lo ayudó, y los apartó Dios de él;

32 A nd it came to pass that when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

pues viendo los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, desistieron de acosarle.

33 A nd a man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the fastenings and the corslet. And he said to the charioteer, Turn thy hand and drive me out of the camp; for I am wounded.

Mas disparando uno el arco al azar, hirió al rey de Israel entre las junturas y el coselete. Él entonces dijo al cochero: Vuelve las riendas, y sácame del campo, porque estoy malherido.

34 A nd the battle increased that day; and the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even; and about the time of the going down of the sun he died.

Y arreció la batalla aquel día, por lo que estuvo el rey de Israel en pie en el carro enfrente de los sirios hasta la tarde; y murió al ponerse el sol.
