1 B ut do thou speak the things that become sound teaching;

Pero tú habla lo que está de acuerdo con la sana doctrina.

2 t hat the elder men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience;

Que los ancianos sean sobrios, serios, sensatos, sanos en la fe, en el amor, en la paciencia.

3 t hat the elder women in like manner be in deportment as becoming those who have to say to sacred things, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is right;

Las ancianas asimismo sean reverentes en su porte; no calumniadoras, no esclavas del mucho vino, maestras del bien;

4 t hat they may admonish the young women to be attached to husbands, to be attached to children,

para que enseñen a las mujeres jóvenes a ser amantes de sus maridos y de sus hijos,

5 d iscreet, chaste, diligent in home work, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.

a ser sensatas, castas, cuidadosas de su casa, buenas, sujetas a sus maridos, para que la palabra de Dios no sea blasfemada.

6 T he younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet:

Exhorta asimismo a los jóvenes a que sean sensatos;

7 i n all things affording thyself as a pattern of good works; in teaching uncorruptedness, gravity,

presentándote tú en todo como modelo de buenas obras; en la enseñanza mostrando integridad, seriedad,

8 a sound word, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us:

palabra sana e irreprochable, de modo que el adversario se avergüence, al no tener nada malo que decir de vosotros.

9 b ondmen to be subject to their own masters, to make themselves acceptable in everything; not gainsaying;

Exhorta a los siervos a que se sometan a sus amos en todo, a que les complazcan sin contradecir,

10 n ot robbing, but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the teaching which of our Saviour God in all things.

no sustrayéndoles, sino mostrándose fieles en todo, para que en todo adornen la doctrina de Dios nuestro Salvador.

11 F or the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,

Porque la gracia de Dios se ha manifestado para ofrecer salvación a todos los hombres,

12 t eaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,

enseñándonos que, renunciando a la impiedad y a los deseos mundanos, vivamos en este siglo sobria, justa y piadosamente,

13 a waiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;

aguardando la esperanza bienaventurada y la manifestación gloriosa de nuestro gran Dios y Salvador Jesucristo,

14 w ho gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.

quien se dio a sí mismo por nosotros para redimirnos de toda iniquidad y purificar para sí un pueblo de su propiedad, celoso de buenas obras.

15 T hese things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.

Esto habla, y exhorta y reprende con toda autoridad. Nadie te menosprecie.
