1 ¶ Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

Muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude; que Israel o repita:

2 M any a time have they afflicted me from my youth; yet they have not prevailed against me.

Muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude, mas jamais conseguiram vencer-me.

3 T he plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.

Passaram o arado em minhas costas e fizeram longos sulcos.

4 T he LORD is righteous; he has cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

O Senhor é justo! Ele libertou-me das algemas dos ímpios.

5 ¶ All those that hate Zion shall all be confounded and turned back.

Retrocedam envergonhados todos os que odeiam Sião.

6 T hey shall be as the grass upon the housetops, which withers before it grows up,

Sejam como o capim do terraço, que seca antes de crescer,

7 w ith which the reaper does not fill his hand nor he that binds sheaves his bosom.

que não enche as mãos do ceifeiro nem os braços daquele que faz os fardos.

8 N either did those who go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you; we bless you in the name of the LORD.

E que ninguém que passa diga: “Seja sobre vocês a bênção do Senhor; nós os abençoamos em nome do Senhor!”
