1 ¶ Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!

Ai da cidade rebelde, impura e opressora!

2 S he did not obey the voice; she did not receive correction; she did not trust in the LORD; she did not draw near to her God.

Não ouve a ninguém, e não aceita correção. Não confia no Senhor, não se aproxima do seu Deus.

3 H er princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they do not leave a bone for tomorrow.

No meio dela os seus líderes são leões que rugem. Seus juízes são lobos vespertinos que nada deixam para a manhã seguinte.

4 H er prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary; they have falsified the law.

Seus profetas são irresponsáveis, são homens traiçoeiros. Seus sacerdotes profanam o santuário e fazem violência à lei.

5 T he just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: each morning he shall bring his judgment to light; he never fails; but the unjust know no shame.

No meio dela está o Senhor, que é justo e jamais comete injustiça. A cada manhã ele ministra a sua justiça, e a cada novo dia ele não falha, mas o injusto não se envergonha da sua injustiça.

6 I have caused the Gentiles to be cut off: their castles are desolate; I made their streets waste until no one passes by; their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man left, there is no inhabitant.

“Eliminei nações; suas fortificações estão devastadas. Deixei desertas as suas ruas. Suas cidades estão destruídas; ninguém foi deixado; ninguém!

7 S aying, Surely now thou wilt fear me; thou wilt receive chastisement; so thy dwelling shall not be thrown down, all of which I visited upon her; but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.

Eu disse à cidade: Com certeza você me temerá e aceitará correção! Pois, então, a sua habitação não seria eliminada, nem cairiam sobre ela todos os meus castigos. Mas eles ainda estavam ávidos por fazer todo tipo de maldade.

8 ¶ Therefore wait for me, said the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey; for my judgment is to gather the Gentiles, that I may assemble the kingdoms to pour upon them my indignation, even all my fierce anger; for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

Por isso, esperem por mim”, declara o Senhor, “no dia em que eu me levantar para testemunhar. Decidi ajuntar as nações, reunir os reinos e derramar a minha ira sobre eles, toda a minha impetuosa indignação. O mundo inteiro será consumido pelo fogo da minha zelosa ira.

9 F or then I will restore to the peoples the pure language that they may all call upon the name of the LORD to serve him with one consent.

“Então purificarei os lábios dos povos, para que todos eles invoquem o nome do Senhor e o sirvam de comum acordo.

10 F rom beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring me an offering.

Desde além dos rios da Etiópia os meus adoradores, o meu povo disperso, me trarão ofertas.

11 I n that day thou shalt not be ashamed for any of thy doings, in which thou hast rebelled against me, for then I will take away out of the midst of thee those that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no longer be haughty because of the mountain of my holiness.

Naquele dia vocês não serão envergonhados pelos seus atos de rebelião, porque retirarei desta cidade os que se regozijam em seu orgulho. Nunca mais vocês serão altivos no meu santo monte.

12 I will also leave in the midst of thee a poor and humble people, and they shall wait in the name of the LORD.

Mas deixarei no meio da cidade os mansos e humildes, que se refugiarão no nome do Senhor.

13 T he remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth, for they shall be fed and lie down, and no one shall make them afraid.

O remanescente de Israel não cometerá injustiças; eles não mentirão, nem se achará engano em suas bocas. Eles se alimentarão e descansarão, sem que ninguém os amedronte.”

14 ¶ Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout with joy O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

Cante, ó cidade de Sião; exulte, ó Israel! Alegre-se, regozije-se de todo o coração, ó cidade de Jerusalém!

15 T he LORD has taken away thy judgments; he has cast out thine enemy; the LORD is king of Israel in the midst of thee; thou shalt not see evil any more.

O Senhor anulou a sentença contra você, ele fez retroceder os seus inimigos. O Senhor, o Rei de Israel, está em seu meio; nunca mais você temerá perigo algum.

16 I n that time it shall be said to Jerusalem, Do not fear; and to Zion, Do not let thine hands be slack.

Naquele dia se dirá a Jerusalém: “Não tema, ó Sião; não deixe suas mãos enfraquecerem.

17 T he LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save; he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love; he will joy over thee with singing.

O Senhor, o seu Deus, está em seu meio, poderoso para salvar. Ele se regozijará em você; com o seu amor a renovará, ele se regozijará em você com brados de alegria”.

18 I will gather those that are weary because of the long time, who are thine, unto whom her confusion was a burden.

“Eu ajuntarei os que choram pelas festas fixas, os que se afastaram de vocês, para que isso não mais lhes pese como vergonha.

19 B ehold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee; and I will save her that is lame and gather her that was driven out; and I will make them a praise and of good reputation in every land where they have been put to shame.

Nessa época agirei contra todos os que oprimiram vocês; salvarei os aleijados e ajuntarei os dispersos. Darei a eles louvor e honra em todas as terras onde foram envergonhados.

20 A t that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you; for I will give you as fame and as praise among all peoples of the earth, when I shall return your captives before your eyes, saith the LORD.

Naquele tempo eu ajuntarei vocês; naquele tempo os trarei para casa. Eu lhes darei honra e louvor entre todos os povos da terra, quando eu restaurar a sua sorte diante dos seus próprios olhos”, diz o Senhor.
