1 ¶ Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

“Chamem a seus irmãos ‘meu povo’, e a suas irmãs ‘minhas amadas’. Castigo e Restauração de Israel

2 C ontend with your mother, contend: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore remove her whoredoms from her face and her adulteries from between her breasts;

“Repreendam sua mãe, repreendam-na, pois ela não é minha mulher, e eu não sou seu marido. Que ela retire do rosto o sinal de adúltera e do meio dos seios a infidelidade.

3 l est I strip her naked and set her as in the day that she was born and make her as a wilderness and set her like a dry land and slay her with thirst.

Do contrário, eu a deixarei nua como no dia em que nasceu; farei dela um deserto, uma terra ressequida, e a matarei de sede.

4 N either will I have mercy upon her sons, for they are the sons of whoredoms.

Não tratarei com amor os seus filhos, porque são filhos de adultério.

5 F or their mother has played the harlot; she that conceived them has been shamed; for she said, I will go after my lovers that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.

A mãe deles foi infiel, engravidou deles e está coberta de vergonha. Pois ela disse: ‘Irei atrás dos meus amantes, que me dão comida, água, lã, linho, azeite e bebida’.

6 ¶ Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns and make a wall that she shall not find her paths.

Por isso bloquearei o seu caminho com espinheiros; eu a cercarei de tal modo que ela não poderá encontrar o seu caminho.

7 A nd she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them; then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband, for then it was better with me than now.

Ela correrá atrás dos seus amantes, mas não os alcançará; procurará por eles, mas não os encontrará. Então ela dirá: ‘Voltarei a estar com o meu marido como no início, pois eu estava bem melhor do que agora’.

8 F or she did not recognize that I gave her the wheat and the wine and the oil and multiplied unto them the silver and the gold, with which they made Baal.

Ela não reconheceu que fui eu quem lhe deu o trigo, o vinho e o azeite, quem a cobriu de ouro e de prata, que depois usaram para Baal.

9 T herefore I will return and take away my wheat in the time thereof and my wine in the season thereof and will recover my wool and my flax that I had given to cover her nakedness.

“Por isso levarei o meu trigo quando ele amadurecer, e o meu vinho quando ficar pronto. Arrancarei dela minha lã e meu linho, que serviam para cobrir a sua nudez.

10 A nd now I will uncover her folly in the sight of her lovers, and no one shall deliver her out of my hand.

Pois agora vou expor a sua lascívia diante dos olhos dos seus amantes; ninguém a livrará das minhas mãos.

11 I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast, her new moon, and her sabbath, and all her festivities.

Acabarei com a sua alegria: suas festas anuais, suas luas novas, seus dias de sábado e todas as suas festas fixas.

12 A nd I will cause her vine and her fig tree to be cut down, of which she has said, These are my wages that my lovers have given me; and I will reduce them to a thicket, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

Arruinarei suas videiras e suas figueiras, que, segundo ela, foi pagamento recebido de seus amantes; farei delas um matagal, e os animais selvagens as devorarão.

13 A nd I will visit upon her the times of the Baals, unto whom she burned incense, and she adorned herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, oblivious of me, saith the LORD.

Eu a castigarei pelos dias em que queimou incenso aos baalins; ela se enfeitou com anéis e jóias, e foi atrás dos seus amantes, mas de mim, ela se esqueceu”, declara o Senhor.

14 ¶ Therefore, behold, I will induce her and bring her into the wilderness and speak unto her heart.

“Portanto, agora vou atraí-la; vou levá-la para o deserto e falar-lhe com carinho.

15 A nd I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall sing there as in the days of her youth and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

Ali devolverei a ela as suas vinhas, e farei do vale de Acor uma porta de esperança. Ali ela me responderá como nos dias de sua infância, como no dia em que saiu do Egito.

16 A nd it shall be in that time, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me My Husband, and shalt no longer call me Baali.

“Naquele dia”, declara o Senhor, “você me chamará ‘meu marido’; não me chamará mais ‘meu senhor ’.

17 F or I will take away the names of Baals out of her mouth, and they shall no longer be remembered by their name.

Tirarei dos seus lábios os nomes dos baalins; seus nomes não serão mais invocados.

18 A nd in that time I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of the heaven and with the serpents of the earth; and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle of the earth and will cause them to sleep safely.

Naquele dia, em favor deles farei um acordo com os animais do campo, com as aves do céu e com os animais que rastejam pelo chão. Arco, espada e guerra, eu os abolirei da terra, para que todos possam viver em paz.

19 A nd I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness and in judgment and in mercy.

Eu me casarei com você para sempre; eu me casarei com você com justiça e retidão, com amor e compaixão.

20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faith: and thou shalt know the LORD.

Eu me casarei com você com fidelidade, e você reconhecerá o Senhor.

21 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, I will respond, saith the LORD, I will respond to the heavens, and they shall respond to the earth;

“Naquele dia eu responderei”, declara o Senhor. “Responderei aos céus, e eles responderão à terra;

22 a nd the earth shall respond to the wheat and the wine and the oil; and they shall respond to Jezreel.

e a terra responderá ao cereal, ao vinho e ao azeite, e eles responderão a Jezreel.

23 A nd I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon Loruhamah, and I will say to Loammi, Thou art my people; and he shall say, Thou art my God.

Eu a plantarei para mim mesmo na terra; tratarei com amor aquela que chamei Não-amada. Direi àquele chamado Não-meu-povo: Você é meu povo; e ele dirá: ‘Tu és o meu Deus’. ”
