1 ¶ By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loves; I sought him, but I did not find him.

A noite toda procurei em meu leito aquele a quem o meu coração ama, mas não o encontrei.

2 I will rise now and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loves; I sought him, but I did not find him.

Vou levantar-me agora e percorrer a cidade, irei por suas ruas e praças; buscarei aquele a quem o meu coração ama. Eu o procurei, mas não o encontrei.

3 T he watchmen that go about the city found me, to whom I said, Have ye seen him whom my soul loves?

As sentinelas me encontraram quando faziam as suas rondas na cidade. “Vocês viram aquele a quem o meu coração ama?”, perguntei.

4 I t was but a little that I passed from them that I found him whom my soul loves: I held him and would not let him go until I had brought him into my mother’s house and into the chamber of her that brought me into the light.

Mal havia passado por elas, quando encontrei aquele a quem o meu coração ama. Eu o segurei e não o deixei ir, até que o trouxe para a casa de minha mãe, para o quarto daquela que me concebeu.

5 I charge you, O ye virgins of Jerusalem, by the roes and by the hinds of the field, that ye not awake nor stir up love, until he pleases.

Mulheres de Jerusalém, eu as faço jurar pelas gazelas e pelas corças do campo: Não despertem nem incomodem o amor enquanto ele não o quiser. Coro

6 ¶ Who is she that rises out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense and with all the aromatic powders?

O que vem subindo do deserto, como uma coluna de fumaça, perfumado com mirra e incenso com extrato de todas as especiarias dos mercadores?

7 ¶ Behold it is the bed of Solomon; sixty valiant men are about it of the valiant of Israel.

Vejam! É a liteira de Salomão, escoltada por sessenta guerreiros, os mais nobres de Israel;

8 T hey all hold swords, being expert in war; each one has his sword upon his thigh because of the fears of the night.

todos eles trazem espada, todos são experientes na guerra, cada um com a sua espada, preparado para enfrentar os pavores da noite.

9 K ing Solomon made himself a palanquin of the wood of Lebanon.

O rei Salomão fez para si uma liteira; ele a fez com madeira do Líbano.

10 H e made its pillars of silver, the bottom of it of gold, the covering of it of purple, its interior being paved with love, for the virgins of Jerusalem.

Suas traves ele fez de prata, seu teto, de ouro. Seu banco foi estofado em púrpura, seu interior foi cuidadosamente preparado pelas mulheres de Jerusalém.

11 G o forth, O ye virgins of Zion, and behold King Solomon with the crown with which his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.

Mulheres de Sião, saiam! Venham ver o rei Salomão! Ele está usando a coroa, a coroa que sua mãe lhe colocou no dia do seu casamento, no dia em que o seu coração se alegrou.
