1 I f I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.

Если я говорю языками человеческими и ангельскими, а любви не имею, то я--медь звенящая или кимвал звучащий.

2 A nd if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

Если имею пророчества, и знаю все тайны, и имею всякое познание и всю веру, так что и горы переставлять, а не имею любви, --то я ничто.

3 A nd if I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profiteth me nothing.

И если я раздам все имение мое и отдам тело мое на сожжение, а любви не имею, нет мне в том никакой пользы.

4 L ove suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Любовь долготерпит, милосердствует, любовь не завидует, любовь не превозносится, не гордится,

5 d oth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil;

не бесчинствует, не ищет своего, не раздражается, не мыслит зла,

6 r ejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth;

не радуется неправде, а сорадуется истине;

7 b eareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

все покрывает, всему верит, всего надеется, все переносит.

8 L ove never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away.

Любовь никогда не перестает, хотя и пророчества прекратятся, и языки умолкнут, и знание упразднится.

9 F or we know in part, and we prophesy in part;

Ибо мы отчасти знаем, и отчасти пророчествуем;

10 b ut when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away.

когда же настанет совершенное, тогда то, что отчасти, прекратится.

11 W hen I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things.

Когда я был младенцем, то по-младенчески говорил, по-- младенчески мыслил, по-младенчески рассуждал; а как стал мужем, то оставил младенческое.

12 F or now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known.

Теперь мы видим как бы сквозь стекло, гадательно, тогда же лицем к лицу; теперь знаю я отчасти, а тогда познаю, подобно как я познан.

13 B ut now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

А теперь пребывают сии три: вера, надежда, любовь; но любовь из них больше.
