1 S urely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold where they refine it.

2 I ron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted from the stone ore.

Желязото се взима из земята, И медта се лее от камъка.

3 M an sets an end to darkness, and he searches out the farthest bounds for the ore buried in gloom and deep darkness.

<Човекът> туря край на тъмнината, И издирва до най-далечните места, Камъните в тъмнината и в мрачната сянка.

4 M en break open shafts away from where people sojourn, in places forgotten by foot; and, hanging afar from men, they swing or flit to and fro.

Далеч от човешко жилище, гдето нозе не стъпват, Той си отваря рудница; Окачени далеч от човеците <рудничарите> се люлеят.

5 A s for the earth, out of it comes bread, but underneath there is blasting, turning it up as by fire.

Колкото за земята, от нея произлиза хлябът? И под нея се разравя като че ли с огън.

6 I ts stones are the bed of sapphires; it holds dust of gold.

Камъните й са място на сапфир, И златна пръст има в нея.

7 T hat path no bird of prey knows, and the falcon’s eye has not seen it.

Хищна птица не знае тоя път И око на сокол не го е видяло.

8 T he proud beasts have not trodden it, nor has the fierce lion passed over it.

Горделивите зверове не са стъпвали по него; Лъв не е заминавал през него.

9 M an puts forth his hand upon the flinty rock; he overturns the mountains by the roots.

<Човекът> простира ръката си върху канарите, Превръща планините из корен.

10 H e cuts out channels and passages among the rocks; and his eye sees every precious thing.

Разсича проломи между скалите; И окото му открива всичко що е скъпоценно

11 b inds the streams so that they do not trickle, and the thing that is hidden he brings forth to light.

И ограничава капането на водите; И скритото изважда на бял свят.

12 B ut where shall Wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?

Но мъдростта, где ще се намери? И где е мястото на разума?

13 M an knows not the price of it; neither is it found in the land of the living.

Човекът не познава цената й; И тя не се намира в земята на живите,

14 T he deep says, is not in me; and the sea says, It is not with me.

Бездната казва: Не е в мене; И морето казва: Не е у мене.

15 I t cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price of it.

Не може да се придобие със злато; И сребро не може да се претегли в замяна с нея.

16 I t cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, in the precious onyx or beryl, or the sapphire.

Не може да се оцени с офирско злато, Със скъпоценен оникс и сапфир.

17 G old and glass cannot equal, nor can it be exchanged for jewels or vessels of fine gold.

Злато и кристал не могат се сравни с нея, Нито може да се размени с вещи от най-чисто злато.

18 N o mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; for the possession of Wisdom is even above rubies or pearls.

Не ще се спомене корал или кристал <за покупката й. >Защото цената на мъдростта е по-висока от скъпоценните камъни.

19 T he topaz of Ethiopia cannot compare with it, nor can it be valued in pure gold.

Топаз етиопски не ще се сравни с нея; Не ще се оцени тя с чисто злато.

20 F rom where then does Wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding?

От где, прочее, дохожда мъдростта? И где е мястото на разума? -

21 I t is hidden from the eyes of all living, and knowledge of it is withheld from the birds of the heavens.

Понеже е скрита от очите на всичките живи, И утаена от въздушните птици.

22 A baddon (the place of destruction) and Death say, We have heard the report of it with our ears.

Гибелта и смъртта казват: С ушите си чухме слух за нея.

23 G od understands the way and He knows the place of it.

Бог разбира пътя й, И Той знае мястото й;

24 F or He looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.

Понеже Той гледа до земните краища, И вижда под цялото небе,

25 W hen He gave to the wind weight or pressure and allotted the waters by measure,

За да претегля тежината на ветровете, И да измерва водите с мярка.

26 W hen He made a decree for the rain and a way for the lightning of the thunder,

Когато направи закон за дъжда, И път за светкавицата на гърма,

27 T hen He saw and declared it; He established it, yes, and searched it out.

Тогава Той я видя и изяви; Утвърди я, да! и я изследва;

28 B ut to man He said, Behold, the reverential and worshipful fear of the Lord—that is Wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

И каза на човека: Ето, Страх от Господа, туй е мъдрост, И отдалечаване от злото, това е разум.
