1 L ater on there was a Jewish festival (feast) for which Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

După aceea era un praznic al Iudeilor; şi Isus S'a suit la Ierusalim.

2 N ow there is in Jerusalem a pool near the Sheep Gate. This pool in the Hebrew is called Bethesda, having five porches (alcoves, colonnades, doorways).

În Ierusalim, lîngă Poarta Oilor, este o scăldătoare, numită în evreieşte Betesda, care are cinci pridvoare.

3 I n these lay a great number of sick folk—some blind, some crippled, and some paralyzed (shriveled up)— waiting for the bubbling up of the water.

În pridvoarele acestea zăceau o mulţime de bolnavi, orbi, şchiopi, uscaţi, cari aşteptau mişcarea apei.

4 F or an angel of the Lord went down at appointed seasons into the pool and moved and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was cured of whatever disease with which he was afflicted.

Căci un înger al Domnului se pogora, din cînd în cînd, în scăldătoare, şi turbura apa. Şi cel dintîi, care se pogora în ea, după turburarea apei, se făcea sănătos, orice boală ar fi avut.

5 T here was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.

Acolo se afla un om bolnav de treizeci şi opt de ani.

6 W hen Jesus noticed him lying there, knowing that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well?

Isus, cînd l -a văzut zăcînd, şi, fiindcă ştia că este bolnav de multă vreme, i -a zis:,, Vrei să te faci sănătos?``

7 T he invalid answered, Sir, I have nobody when the water is moving to put me into the pool; but while I am trying to come myself, somebody else steps down ahead of me.

Doamne``, I -a răspuns bolnavul,,, n'am pe nimeni să mă bage în scăldătoare cînd se turbură apa; şi, pînă să mă duc eu, se pogoară altul înaintea mea.

8 J esus said to him, Get up! Pick up your bed (sleeping pad) and walk!

Scoală-te``, i -a zis Isus,,, ridică-ţi patul şi umblă.``

9 I nstantly the man became well and recovered his strength and picked up his bed and walked. But that happened on the Sabbath.

Îndată omul acela s'a făcut sănătos, şi -a luat patul, şi umbla. Ziua aceea era o zi de Sabat.

10 S o the Jews kept saying to the man who had been healed, It is the Sabbath, and you have no right to pick up your bed.

Iudeii ziceau deci celui ce fusese vindecat:,, Este ziua Sabatului; nu-ţi este îngăduit să-ţi ridici patul``.

11 H e answered them, The Man Who healed me and gave me back my strength, He Himself said to me, Pick up your bed and walk!

El le -a răspuns:,, Celce m'a făcut sănătos, mi -a zis:, Ridică-ţi patul, şi umblă.``

12 T hey asked him, Who is the Man Who told you, Pick up your bed and walk?

Ei l-au întrebat:,, Cine este omul acela, care ţi -a zis:, Ridică-ţi patul, şi umblă?.``

13 N ow the invalid who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had quietly gone away, since there was a crowd in the place.

Dar cel vindecat nu ştia cine este: căci Isus se făcuse nevăzut din norodul care era în locul acela.

14 A fterward, when Jesus found him in the temple, He said to him, See, you are well! Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.

După aceea, Isus l -a găsit în Templu, şi i -a zis:,, Iată că te-ai făcut sănătos; de acum să nu mai păcătuieşti, ca să nu ţi se întîmple ceva mai rău.``

15 T he man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus Who had made him well.

Omul acela s'a dus, şi a spus Iudeilor că Isus este Acela care -l făcuse sănătos.

16 F or this reason the Jews began to persecute (annoy, torment) Jesus and sought to kill Him, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath.

Din pricina aceasta, Iudeii au început să urmărească pe Isus, şi căutau să -L omoare, fiindcă făcea aceste lucruri în ziua Sabatului.

17 B ut Jesus answered them, My Father has worked until now, and I, too, must be at work.

Dar Isus le -a răspuns:,, Tatăl Meu lucrează pînă acum; şi Eu de asemenea lucrez.``

18 T his made the Jews more determined than ever to kill Him; because He not only was breaking (weakening, violating) the Sabbath, but He actually was speaking of God as being His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

Tocmai de aceea căutau şi mai mult Iudeii să -L omoare, nu numai fiindcă deslega ziua Sabatului, dar şi pentrucă zicea că Dumnezeu este Tatăl Său, şi Se făcea astfel deopotrivă cu Dumnezeu.

19 S o Jesus answered them by saying, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His own accord); but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way.

Isus a luat din nou cuvîntul, şi le -a zis:,, Adevărat, adevărat vă spun, că, Fiul nu poate face nimic dela Sine; El nu face decît ce vede pe Tatăl făcînd; şi tot ce face Tatăl, face şi Fiul întocmai.

20 T he Father dearly loves the Son and discloses to (shows) Him everything that He Himself does. And He will disclose to Him (let Him see) greater things yet than these, so that you may marvel and be full of wonder and astonishment.

Căci Tatăl iubeşte pe Fiul, şi -I arată tot ce face; şi -I va arăta lucrări mai mari decît acestea, ca voi să vă minunaţi.

21 J ust as the Father raises up the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whomever He wills and is pleased to give it.

În adevăr, după cum Tatăl înviază morţii, şi le dă viaţă, tot aşa şi Fiul dă viaţă cui vrea.

22 E ven the Father judges no one, for He has given all judgment (the last judgment and the whole business of judging) entirely into the hands of the Son,

Tatăl nici nu judecă pe nimeni, ci toată judecata a dat -o Fiului,

23 S o that all men may give honor (reverence, homage) to the Son just as they give honor to the Father. whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, Who has sent Him.

pentru ca toţi să cinstească pe Fiul cum cinstesc pe Tatăl. Cine nu cinsteşte pe Fiul, nu cinsteşte pe Tatăl, care L -a trimes.

24 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment, but he has already passed over out of death into life.

Adevărat, adevărat vă spun, că cine ascultă cuvintele Mele, şi crede în Celce M'a trimes, are viaţa vecinică, şi nu vine la judecată, ci a trecut din moarte la viaţă.

25 B elieve Me when I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the time is coming and is here now when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear it shall live.

Adevărat, adevărat vă spun, că vine ceasul, şi acum a şi venit, cînd cei morţi vor auzi glasul Fiului lui Dumnezeu, şi ceice -l vor asculta, vor învia.

26 F or even as the Father has life in Himself and is self-existent, so He has given to the Son to have life in Himself and be self-existent.

Căci, dupăcum Tatăl are viaţa în Sine, tot aşa a dat şi Fiului să aibă viaţa în Sine.

27 A nd He has given Him authority and granted Him power to execute (exercise, practice) judgment because He is a Son of man.

Şi I -a dat putere să judece, întrucît este Fiu al omului.

28 D o not be surprised and wonder at this, for the time is coming when all those who are in the tombs shall hear His voice,

Nu vă miraţi de lucrul acesta; pentrucă vine ceasul cînd toţi cei din morminte vor auzi glasul Lui,

29 A nd they shall come out—those who have practiced doing good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil will be raised for judgment.

şi vor ieşi afară din ele. Ceice au făcut binele, vor învia pentru viaţă; iar ceice au făcut răul, vor învia pentru judecată.

30 I am able to do nothing from Myself. Even as I hear, I judge, and My judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult My own will but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent Me.

Eu nu pot face nimic dela Mine însumi: judec după cum aud; şi judecata Mea este dreaptă, pentru că nu caut să fac voia Mea, ci voia Tatălui, care M'a trimes.

31 I f I alone testify in My behalf, My testimony is not valid and cannot be worth anything.

Dacă Eu mărturisesc despre Mine însumi, mărturia Mea nu este adevărată.

32 T here is Another Who testifies concerning Me, and I know and am certain that His evidence on My behalf is true and valid.

Este un Altul, care mărturiseşte despre mine; şi ştiu că mărturisirea, pe care o face El despre Mine, este adevărată.

33 Y ou yourselves have sent to John and he has been a witness to the truth.

Voi aţi trimes la Ioan, şi el a mărturisit pentru adevăr.

34 B ut I do not receive human witness; but I simply mention all these things in order that you may be saved (made and kept safe and sound).

Nu că mărturia, pe care o primesc Eu, vine dela un om; dar spun lucrurile acestea pentru ca să fiţi mîntuiţi.

35 J ohn was the lamp that kept on burning and shining, and you were willing for a while to delight (sun) yourselves in his light.

Ioan era lumina, care este aprinsă şi luminează, şi voi aţi vrut să vă veseliţi cîtăva vreme la lumina lui.

36 B ut I have as My witness something greater (weightier, higher, better) than that of John; for the works that the Father has appointed Me to accomplish and finish, the very same works that I am now doing, are a witness and proof that the Father has sent Me.

Dar Eu am o mărturie mai mare decît a lui Ioan; căci lucrările, pe cari Mi le -a dat Tatăl să le săvîrşesc, tocmai lucrările acestea, pe cari le fac Eu, mărturisesc despre Mine că Tatăl M'a trimes.

37 A nd the Father Who sent Me has Himself testified concerning Me. Not one of you has ever given ear to His voice or seen His form (His face—what He is like).

Şi Tatăl, care M'a trimes, a mărturisit El însuş despre Mine. Voi nu I-aţi auzit niciodată glasul, nu I-aţi văzut deloc faţa;

38 A nd you have not His word (His thought) living in your hearts, because you do not believe and adhere to and trust in and rely on Him Whom He has sent.

şi Cuvîntul Lui nu rămîne în voi, pentrucă nu credeţi în Acela, pe care L -a trimes El.

39 Y ou search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them. And these testify about Me!

Cercetaţi Scripturile, pentru că socotiţi că în ele aveţi viaţa vecinică, dar tocmai ele mărturisesc despre Mine.

40 A nd still you are not willing to come to Me, so that you might have life.

Şi nu vreţi să veniţi la Mine, ca să aveţi viaţa!

41 I receive not glory from men,

Eu nu umblu după slava care vine dela oameni.

42 B ut I know you and recognize and understand that you have not the love of God in you.

Dar ştiu că n'aveţi în voi dragoste de Dumnezeu.

43 I have come in My Father’s name and with His power, and you do not receive Me; but if another comes in his own name and his own power and with no other authority but himself, you will receive him and give him your approval.

Eu am venit în Numele Tatălui Meu, şi nu Mă primiţi; dacă va veni un altul, în numele lui însuş, pe acela îl veţi primi.

44 H ow is it possible for you to believe, you who receive praise and honor and glory from one another, and yet do not seek the praise and honor and glory which come from Him Who alone is God?

Cum puteţi crede voi, cari umblaţi după slava, pe care v'o daţi unii altora, şi nu căutaţi slava care vine dela singurul Dumnezeu?

45 P ut out of your minds the thought and do not suppose that I will accuse you before the Father. There is one who accuses you—it is Moses, the very one on whom you have built your hopes.

Să nu credeţi că vă voi învinui înaintea Tatălui; este cine să vă învinuiască: Moise, în care v'aţi pus nădejdea.

46 F or if you believed and relied on Moses, you would believe and rely on Me, for he wrote about Me.

Căci, dacă aţi crede pe Moise, M'aţi crede şi pe Mine, pentrucă el a scris despre Mine.

47 B ut if you do not believe and trust his writings, how then will you believe and trust My teachings?

Dar dacă nu credeţi cele scrise de el, cum veţi crede cuvintele Mele?``
