1 B ut you, teach what is fitting and becoming to sound (wholesome) doctrine.

Tu însă, vorbeşte lucruri cari se potrivesc cu învăţătura sănătoasă.

2 U rge the older men to be temperate, venerable (serious), sensible, self-controlled, and sound in the faith, in the love, and in the steadfastness and patience.

Spune că cei bătrîni trebuie să fie treji, vrednici de cinste, cumpătaţi, sănătoşi în credinţă, în dragoste, în răbdare.

3 B id the older women similarly to be reverent and devout in their deportment as becomes those engaged in sacred service, not slanderers or slaves to drink. They are to give good counsel and be teachers of what is right and noble,

Spune că femeile în vîrstă trebuie să aibă o purtare cuvincioasă, să nu fie nici clevetitoare, nici dedate la vin; să înveţe pe alţii ce este bine,

4 S o that they will wisely train the young women to be sane and sober of mind (temperate, disciplined) and to love their husbands and their children,

ca să înveţe pe femeile mai tinere să-şi iubească bărbaţi şi copiii;

5 T o be self-controlled, chaste, homemakers, good-natured (kindhearted), adapting and subordinating themselves to their husbands, that the word of God may not be exposed to reproach (blasphemed or discredited).

să fie cumpătate, cu viaţa curată, să-şi vadă de treburile casei, să fie bune, supuse bărbaţilor lor, pentruca să nu se vorbească de rău Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu.

6 I n a similar way, urge the younger men to be self-restrained and to behave prudently.

Sfătuieşte de asemenea pe tineri să fie cumpătaţi,

7 A nd show your own self in all respects to be a pattern and a model of good deeds and works, teaching what is unadulterated, showing gravity, with dignity and seriousness.

şi dă-te pe tine însuţi pildă de fapte bune, în toate privinţele. Iar în învăţătură, dă dovadă de curăţie, de vrednicie,

8 A nd let your instruction be sound and fit and wise and wholesome, vigorous and irrefutable and above censure, so that the opponent may be put to shame, finding nothing discrediting or evil to say about us.

de vorbire sănătoasă şi fără cusur, ca protivnicul să rămînă de ruşine, şi să nu poată să spună nimic rău de noi.

9 b ond servants to be submissive to their masters, to be pleasing and give satisfaction in every way. not to talk back or contradict,

Sfătuieşte pe robi să fie supuşi stăpînilor lor, să le fie pe plac în toate lucrurile, să nu le întoarcă vorba,

10 N or to steal by taking things of small value, but to prove themselves truly loyal and entirely reliable and faithful throughout, so that in everything they may be an ornament and do credit to the teaching from and about God our Savior.

să nu fure nimic, ci totdeauna să dea dovadă de o desăvîrşită credincioşie, ca să facă în totul cinste învăţăturii lui Dumnezeu, Mîntuitorul nostru.

11 F or the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind.

Căci harul lui Dumnezeu, care aduce mîntuire pentru toţi oamenii, a fost arătat,

12 I t has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world,

şi ne învaţă s'o rupem cu păgînătatea şi cu poftele lumeşti, şi să trăim în veacul de acum cu cumpătare, dreptate şi evlavie,

13 A waiting and looking for the blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

aşteptînd fericita noastră nădejde şi arătarea slavei marelui nostru Dumnezeu şi Mîntuitor Isus Hristos.

14 W ho gave Himself on our behalf that He might redeem us (purchase our freedom) from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people eager and enthusiastic about beneficial deeds.

El S'a dat pe Sine însuş pentru noi, ca să ne răscumpere din orice fărădelege, şi să-Şi curăţească un norod care să fie al Lui, plin de rîvnă pentru fapte bune.

15 T ell these things. Urge (advise, encourage, warn) and rebuke with full authority. Let no one despise or disregard or think little of you.

Spune lucrurile acestea, sfătuieşte şi mustră cu deplină putere. Nimeni să nu te dispreţuiască.
