1 T he words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen and sheep masters of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

Cuvintele lui Amos, unul din păstorii din Tecoa, vedeniile pe cari le -a avut el despre Israel, pe vremea lui Ozia, împăratul lui Iuda, şi pe vremea lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Ioas, împăratul lui Israel, cu doi ani înaintea cutremurului de pămînt.

2 A nd he said, The Lord roars out of Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem; then the pastures of the shepherds mourn and the top of Carmel dries up.

El a zis:,, Domnul răcneşte din Sion, glasul Lui răsună din Ierusalim. Păşunele păstorilor jălesc, şi vîrful Carmelului este uscat.

3 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Damascus and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have threshed Gilead with iron sledges.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Damascului, ba pentru patru, nu-Mi schimb hotărîrea, pentru că au treierat Galaadul cu treierătoarea de fer.

4 S o I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael which shall devour the palaces and strongholds of Ben-hadad.

De aceea voi trimete foc în casa lui Hazael, care va mistui palatele lui Ben-Hadad.

5 I will break also the bar of Damascus and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven or On, and him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden; and the people of Syria shall go into exile to Kir, says the Lord.

Voi sfărîma zăvoarele Damascului, şi voi nimici cu desăvîrşire pe locuitorii din Bicat-Aven, împreună cu cel ce ţine toiagul de cîrmuire în Bet-Eden; şi poporul Siriei va fi dus rob la Chir, zice Domnul.``

6 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Gaza and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they carried away captive the whole population and delivered them up to Edom.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Gazei, ba pentru patru, nu-Mi schimb hotărîrea, pentru că au luat pe toţi oamenii prinşi de război şi i-au dat Edomului:

7 S o I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza which shall devour its strongholds.

de aceea, voi trimete foc în zidurile Gazei, şi -i va mistui palatele.

8 A nd I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon, and I will turn My hand against Ekron; and the rest of the Philistines shall perish, says the Lord God.

Voi nimici cu desăvîrşire pe locuitorii din Asdod, şi pe cel ce ţine toiagul împărătesc în Ascalon; Îmi voi întoarce mîna împotriva Ecronului, şi ce va mai rămînea din Filisteni va pieri, zice Domnul Dumnezeu.``

9 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Tyre and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they delivered up a whole population to Edom and did not remember their brotherly covenant.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Tirului, ba pentru patru, nu-Mi schimb hotărîrea, pentrucă au luat pe toţi oamenii prinşi de război, şi i-au dat Edomului, şi nu s'au gîndit la legămîntul frăţesc.

10 S o I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre which shall devour its strongholds.

De aceea, voi trimete foc în zidurile Tirului, şi -i va mistui palatele.``

11 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Edom and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because he pursued his brother Jacob (Israel) with the sword, corrupting his compassions and casting off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually and his wrath he kept and heeded forever.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale Edomului, ba pentru patru, nu-Mi schimb hotărîrea, pentrucă a urmărit pe fraţii săi cu sabia, înăduşindu-şi mila, a dat drumul mîniei, şi îşi ţinea într'una urgia.

12 S o I will send a fire upon Teman which shall devour the strongholds of Bozrah.

De aceea, voi trimete foc peste Teman, şi va mistui palatele Boţrei.``

13 T hus says the Lord: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon and for four, I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because have ripped up women with child in Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Pentru trei nelegiuiri ale copiilor lui Amon, ba pentru patru, nu-Mi schimb hotărîrea, pentrucă au spintecat pîntecele femeilor însărcinate ale Galaadului, ca să-şi mărească ţinutul:

14 S o I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah and it shall devour the strongholds of it, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;

de aceea, voi aprinde focul în zidurile Rabei, şi -i va mistui palatele, în mijlocul strigătelor de război în ziua luptei, şi în mijlocul vijeliei în ziua furtunii.

15 A nd their king shall go into exile, he and his princes together, says the Lord.

Şi împăratul lor va merge în robie, el, şi căpeteniile lui împreună cu el, zice Domnul.``
