1 G reat is the Lord, and highly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,

(O cîntare. Un psalm al fiilor lui Core.) Mare este Domnul şi lăudat de toţi, în cetatea Dumnezeului nostru, pe muntele Lui cel sfînt.

2 F air and beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth— Mount Zion, to the northern side, the city of the Great King!

Frumoasă înalţime, bucuria întregului pămînt, este muntele Sionului; în partea de miazănoapte este cetatea Marelui Împărat.

3 G od has made Himself known in her palaces as a Refuge (a High Tower and a Stronghold).

Dumnezeu, în casele Lui împărăteşti, este cunoscut ca un turn de scăpare.

4 F or, behold, the kings assembled, they came onward and they passed away together.

Căci iată că împăraţii se adunaseră: doar au trecut împreună,

5 T hey looked, they were amazed; they were stricken with terror and took to flight.

au privit -o, au înlemnit, s'au temut, şi au luat -o la fugă.

6 T rembling took hold of them there, and pain as of a woman in childbirth.

I -a apucat un tremur acolo, ca durerea unei femei la facere.

7 W ith the east wind You shattered the ships of Tarshish.

Au fost izgoniţi de parcă ar fi fost luaţi de vîntul de răsărit, care sfărîmă corăbiile din Tarsis.

8 A s we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it forever. Selah!

Întocmai cum auzisem spunîndu-se, aşa am văzut în cetatea Domnului oştirilor, în cetatea Dumnezeului nostru: Dumnezeu o va face să dăinuiască pe vecie. -

9 W e have thought of Your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of Your temple.

Dumnezeule, la bunătatea Ta ne gîndim, în mijlocul Templului Tău!

10 A s is Your name, O God, so is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness (rightness and justice).

Ca şi Numele Tău, Dumnezeule, şi lauda Ta răsună pînă la marginile pămîntului; dreapta Ta este plină de îndurare.

11 L et Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments!

Se bucură muntele Sionului, şi se veselesc fiicele lui Iuda de judecăţile Tale.

12 W alk about Zion, and go round about her, number her towers (her lofty and noble deeds of past days),

Străbateţi Sionul, şi ocoliţi -l, număraţi -i turnurile,

13 C onsider well her ramparts, go through her palaces and citadels, that you may tell the next generation.

priviţi -i întăritura, şi cercetaţi -i palatele, ca să povestiţi celor ce vor veni după ei.

14 F or this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide until death.

Iată, Dumnezeul acesta este Dumnezeul nostru în veci de veci; El va fi călăuza noastră pînă la moarte.
