1 W hen the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions, accompanied by very many attendants and camels bearing spices, much gold, and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she talked with him of all that was on her mind.

2 A nd Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from which he was unable to make clear to her.

3 A nd when the queen of Sheba had seen Solomon’s wisdom, the house he had built,

4 T he food of his table, the seating of his officials, the attention of his servants, their apparel, his cupbearers also and their apparel, and his burnt offerings which he offered at the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her.

şi bucatele dela masa lui, şi locuinţa slujitorilor lui, şi slujbele şi hainele celor ce -i slujeau, şi paharnicii lui şi hainele lor, şi treptele pe cari se suia la Casa Domnului. Uimită,

5 S he said to the king, The report which I heard in my own land of your acts and sayings and of your wisdom was true,

ea a zis împăratului:,, Era adevărat deci ce am auzit eu în ţara mea despre faptele şi înţelepciunea ta!

6 B ut I did not believe their words until I came and my eyes had seen it. Behold, the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me; you surpass the fame that I heard of you.

Nu credeam tot ce se zicea, pînă n'am venit şi am văzut cu ochii mei. Şi iată că nu mi s'a istorisit nici jumătate din mărirea şi înţelepciunea ta. Tu întreci faima pe care am auzit -o despre tine.

7 H appy are your wives and men, and happy are these your servants who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!

Ferice de oamenii tăi, ferice de slujitorii tăi, cari sînt pururea înaintea ta, şi cari aud înţelepciunea ta!

8 B lessed be the Lord your God, Who delighted in you and set you on His throne to be king for the Lord your God! Because your God loved Israel and would establish them forever, He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.

Binecuvîntat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, care S'a îndurat de tine, şi te -a pus pe scaunul Lui de domnie ca împărat pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul tău! Pentrucă Dumnezeul tău iubeşte pe Israel şi vrea să -l facă să rămînă în picioare pe vecie, pentru aceea te -a pus împărat peste el, ca să faci judecată şi dreptate.``

9 S he gave the king 120 talents of gold, a very large quantity of spices, and precious stones; such spice was not anywhere as that which the queen of Sheba gave King Solomon.

Ea a dat împăratului o sută douăzeci de talanţi de aur, foarte multe mirodenii, şi pietre scumpe. N'au mai fost mirodenii ca cele date împăratului Solomon de împărăteasa din Seba.

10 T he servants of Huram and of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, also brought algum trees and precious stones.

Slujitorii lui Hiram şi slujitorii lui Solomon, cari au adus aur din Ofir, au adus şi lemn mirositor şi pietre scumpe.

11 T he king made of the algum trees terraces or walks to the house of the Lord and to the king’s palace, and lyres and harps for the singers; none such had ever been seen before in the land of Judah.

14 B esides what traders and merchants brought; and all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

15 A nd King Solomon made 200 large shields or bucklers of beaten gold; 600 shekels of beaten gold went into each shield.

Împăratul Solomon a făcut două sute de scuturi mari de aur bătut, şi pentru fiecare din ele a întrebuinţat şase sute de sicli de aur bătut,

16 A nd he made 300 shields of beaten gold, with 300 shekels of gold spread on each shield. And the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

şi alte trei sute de scuturi de aur bătut, şi pentru fiecare din ele a întrebuinţat trei sute de sicli de aur; şi împăratul le -a pus în casa pădurii Libanului.

17 M oreover, made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold.

Împăratul a făcut un mare scaun de domnie de fildeş, şi l -a acoperit cu aur curat.

18 T here were six steps to the throne and a gold footstool attached to the throne, and arms on each side of the seat, with two lions standing beside the arms.

Scaunul acesta de domnie avea şase trepte, şi un aşternut pentru picioare, de aur, care se ţinea de scaunul de domnie; de fiecare parte a scaunului erau răzimători, lîngă răzimători erau doi lei,

19 A nd twelve lions stood there one on either end of each of the six steps. The like of it was never made in any kingdom before.

20 K ing Solomon’s drinking vessels were all of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not counted as anything in the days of Solomon.

Toate paharele împăratului Solomon erau de aur, şi toate vasele din casa pădurii Libanului erau de aur curat. Nu era nimic de argint: argintului nu i se dădea niciun preţ, pe vremea lui Solomon.

21 F or the king’s ships went to Tarshish with Huram’s servants; once every three years the ships of Tarshish came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

Căci împăratul avea corăbii din Tarsis cari călătoreau cu slujitorii lui Hiram; şi la fiecare trei ani veneau corăbiile din Tarsis, aducînd aur şi argint, fildeş, maimuţe şi păuni.

22 K ing Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

Împăratul Solomon a întrecut pe toţi împăraţii pămîntului prin bogăţiile şi înţelepciunea lui.

23 A nd all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put into his mind.

Toţi împăraţii pămîntului căutau să vadă pe Solomon, ca să audă înţelepciunea pe care o pusese Dumnezeu în inima lui.

24 A nd every man brought his tribute: silver and gold articles, robes, armor, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.

Şi fiecare din ei îşi aducea darul lui, lucruri de argint şi lucruri de aur, haine, arme, mirodenii, cai şi catîri; aşa era în fiecare an.

25 S olomon had 4, 000 stalls for horses and chariots, and 12, 000 horsemen, stationed in chariot cities or at Jerusalem with the king.

Solomon avea patru mii de iesle pentru caii dela carăle lui, şi douăsprezece mii de călăreţi pe cari i -a aşezat în cetăţile unde îşi ţinea carăle şi la Ierusalim lîngă împărat.

26 A nd he ruled over all the kings from the River to the land of Philistia and to the frontier of Egypt.

El stăpînea peste toţi împăraţii, dela Rîu pînă la ţara Filistenilor şi pînă la hotarul Egiptului.

27 T he king made silver in Jerusalem as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore trees in the lowlands.

Împăratul a făcut argintul tot aşa de obicinuit la Ierusalim ca pietrele, şi cedrii tot atît de mulţi ca smochinii sălbatici, cari cresc pe cîmpie.

28 A nd they imported horses for Solomon from Egypt and from all lands.

Din Egipt şi din toate ţările se aduceau cai pentru Solomon.

29 N ow the rest of the acts of Solomon, from first to last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

Celelalte fapte ale lui Solomon, cele dintîi şi cele depe urmă, nu sînt scrise oare în Cartea proorocului Natan, în proorocia lui Ahia din Silo, şi în descoperirile proorocului Ieedo despre Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat?

30 S olomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

Solomon a domnit patruzeci de ani la Ierusalim peste tot Israelul.

31 T hen Solomon slept with his fathers; he was buried in the city of David his father. Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

Apoi Solomon a adormit cu părinţii lui, şi l-au îngropat în cetatea tatălui său David. Şi, în locul lui, a domnit fiul său Roboam.
