1 E l Espíritu dice claramente que en los últimos tiempos algunos se apartarán de la fe, prestando atención a espíritus engañadores y a doctrinas de demonios,

But the Spirit speaks expressly, that in latter times some shall apostatise from the faith, giving their mind to deceiving spirits and teachings of demons

2 m ediante la hipocresía de mentirosos que tienen cauterizada la conciencia.

speaking lies in hypocrisy, cauterised as to their own conscience,

3 E sos prohibirán casarse y mandarán abstenerse de algunos alimentos, que Dios los ha creado para que con acción de gracias participen de ellos los que creen y que han conocido la verdad.

forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats, which God has created for receiving with thanksgiving for them who are faithful and know the truth.

4 P orque todo lo creado por Dios es bueno y nada se debe rechazar si se recibe con acción de gracias;

For every creature of God good, and nothing to be rejected, being received with thanksgiving;

5 p orque es santificado mediante la palabra de Dios y la oración. El Buen Ministro de Cristo

for it is sanctified by God's word and freely addressing.

6 A l señalar estas cosas a los hermanos serás un buen ministro de Cristo Jesús, nutrido con las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina que has seguido.

Laying these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished with the words of the faith and of the good teaching which thou hast fully followed up.

7 P ero nada tengas que ver con las fábulas profanas propias de viejas. Más bien disciplínate a ti mismo para la piedad.

But profane and old wives' fables avoid, but exercise thyself unto piety;

8 P orque el ejercicio físico aprovecha poco, pero la piedad es provechosa para todo, pues tiene promesa para la vida presente y también para la futura.

for bodily exercise is profitable for a little, but piety is profitable for everything, having promise of life, of the present one, and of that to come.

9 P alabra fiel es ésta, y digna de ser aceptada por todos.

The word faithful and worthy of all acceptation;

10 P orque por esto trabajamos y nos esforzamos, porque hemos puesto nuestra esperanza en el Dios vivo, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, especialmente de los creyentes.

for, for this we labour and suffer reproach, because we hope in a living God, who is preserver of all men, specially of those that believe.

11 E sto manda y enseña.

Enjoin and teach these things.

12 N o permitas que nadie menosprecie tu juventud, sino sé ejemplo de los creyentes en palabra, conducta, amor, fe y pureza.

Let no one despise thy youth, but be a model of the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

13 E ntretanto que llego, ocúpate en la lectura de las Escrituras, la exhortación y la enseñanza.

Till I come, give thyself to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.

14 N o descuides el don espiritual que está en ti, que te fue conferido por medio de la profecía con la imposición de manos del presbiterio.

Be not negligent of the gift in thee, which has been given to thee through prophecy, with imposition of the hands of the elderhood.

15 R eflexiona sobre estas cosas; dedícate a ellas, para que tu aprovechamiento sea evidente a todos.

Occupy thyself with these things; be wholly in them, that thy progress may be manifest to all.

16 T en cuidado de ti mismo y de la enseñanza. Persevera en estas cosas, porque haciéndolo asegurarás la salvación tanto para ti mismo como para los que te escuchan.

Give heed to thyself and to the teaching; continue in them; for, doing this, thou shalt save both thyself and those that hear thee.
