1 P or tanto, dejando las enseñanzas elementales acerca de Cristo (el Mesías), avancemos hacia la madurez (perfección), no echando otra vez el fundamento del arrepentimiento de obras muertas y de la fe en Dios,

Wherefore, leaving the word of the beginning of the Christ, let us go on to full growth, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and faith in God,

2 d e la enseñanza sobre lavamientos, de la imposición de manos, de la resurrección de los muertos y del juicio eterno.

of doctrine of washings, and of imposition of hands, and of resurrection of dead, and of eternal judgment;

3 Y esto haremos, si Dios lo permite.

and this will we do if God permit.

4 P orque en el caso de los que fueron una vez iluminados, que probaron del don celestial y fueron hechos partícipes del Espíritu Santo,

For it is impossible to renew again to repentance those once enlightened, and who have tasted of the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of Holy Spirit,

5 q ue gustaron la buena palabra de Dios y los poderes del siglo venidero,

and have tasted the good word of God, and works of power of age to come,

6 p ero después cayeron, es imposible renovarlos otra vez para arrepentimiento, puesto que de nuevo crucifican para sí mismos al Hijo de Dios y Lo exponen a la ignominia pública.

and have fallen away, crucifying for themselves the Son of God, and making a show of.

7 P orque la tierra que bebe la lluvia que con frecuencia cae sobre ella y produce vegetación útil a aquéllos por los cuales es cultivada, recibe bendición de Dios.

For ground which drinks the rain which comes often upon it, and produces useful herbs for those for whose sakes also it is tilled, partakes of blessing from God;

8 P ero si produce espinos y cardos no vale nada, está próxima a ser maldecida, y termina por ser quemada. Esperanza de Cosas Mejores

but bringing forth thorns and briars, it is found worthless and nigh to a curse, whose end to be burned.

9 P ero en cuanto a ustedes, amados, aunque hablemos de esta manera, estamos persuadidos de las cosas que son mejores y que pertenecen a la salvación.

But we are persuaded concerning you, beloved, better things, and connected with salvation, even if we speak thus.

10 P orque Dios no es injusto como para olvidarse de la obra de ustedes y del amor que han mostrado hacia Su nombre, habiendo servido, y sirviendo aún, a los santos.

For God not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye have shewn to his name, having ministered to the saints, and ministering.

11 P ero deseamos que cada uno de ustedes muestre la misma solicitud hasta el fin, para alcanzar la plena (a plenitud la) seguridad de la esperanza,

But we desire earnestly that each one of you shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end;

12 a fin de que no sean perezosos, sino imitadores de los que mediante la fe y la paciencia heredan las promesas. La Promesa de Dios es Segura

that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience have been inheritors of the promises.

13 P ues cuando Dios hizo la promesa a Abraham, no pudiendo jurar por uno mayor, juró por El mismo,

For God, having promised to Abraham, since he had no greater to swear by, swore by himself,

14 d iciendo: “ Ciertamente te bendecire y ciertamente te multiplicare.”

saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee;

15 Y así, habiendo esperado con paciencia, Abraham obtuvo la promesa.

and thus, having had long patience, he got the promise.

16 P orque los hombres juran por uno mayor que ellos mismos, y para ellos un juramento dado como confirmación es el fin de toda discusión.

For men indeed swear by a greater, and with them the oath is a term to all dispute, as making matters sure.

17 P or lo cual Dios, deseando mostrar más plenamente a los herederos de la promesa la inmutabilidad de Su propósito, interpuso (garantizó) un juramento,

Wherein God, willing to shew more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his purpose, intervened by an oath,

18 a fin de que por dos cosas inmutables, en las cuales es imposible que Dios mienta, los que hemos buscado refugio seamos grandemente animados para asirnos de la esperanza puesta delante de nosotros.

that by two unchangeable things, in which impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us,

19 T enemos como ancla del alma, una esperanza segura y firme, y que penetra hasta detrás del velo,

which we have as anchor of the soul, both secure and firm, and entering into that within the veil,

20 a donde Jesús entró por nosotros como precursor, hecho, según el orden de Melquisedec, Sumo Sacerdote para siempre.

where Jesus is entered as forerunner for us, become for ever a high priest according to the order of Melchisedec.
