1 “ Y ahora, para ustedes, sacerdotes, es este mandamiento.

And now, ye priests, this commandment is for you.

2 S i no escuchan, y si no deciden de corazón dar honor a Mi nombre,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos “enviaré sobre ustedes maldición, y maldeciré sus bendiciones; y en verdad, ya las he maldecido, porque no lo han decidido de corazón.

If ye do not hear, and if ye do not lay to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will even send the curse among you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have already cursed them, because ye do not lay to heart.

3 Y o reprenderé a su descendencia, y les echaré estiércol a la cara, el estiércol de sus fiestas, y serán llevados con él.

Behold, I will rebuke your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, the dung of your feasts; and they shall take you away with it.

4 E ntonces sabrán que les he enviado este mandamiento para que Mi pacto siga con Leví,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.

5 “ Mi pacto con él era de vida y paz, las cuales le di para que Me reverenciara; y él Me reverenció, y estaba lleno de temor ante Mi nombre.

My covenant with him was of life and peace, and I gave them to him that he might fear; and he feared me, and trembled before my name.

6 L a verdadera instrucción (ley) estaba en su boca, y no se hallaba iniquidad en sus labios; en paz y rectitud caminaba conmigo, y apartaba a muchos de la iniquidad.

The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity.

7 P ues los labios del sacerdote deben guardar la sabiduría, y los hombres deben buscar la instrucción de su boca, porque él es el mensajero del Señor de los ejércitos.

For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and at his mouth they seek the law; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

8 P ero ustedes se han desviado del camino, han hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley, han corrompido el pacto de Leví,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.

9 “ Por eso Yo también los he hecho despreciables y viles ante todo el pueblo, así como ustedes no han guardado Mis caminos y hacen acepción de personas al aplicar la ley. Abominaciones del Pueblo

And I also have made you contemptible and base before all the people, because ye have not kept my ways, but have respect of persons in the law.

10 “ ¿No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios ? ¿Por qué nos portamos deslealmente unos contra otros, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres ?

Have we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? Why do we deal unfaithfully every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 D eslealmente ha obrado Judá. Una abominación se ha cometido en Israel y en Jerusalén; porque Judá ha profanado el santuario del Señor, que El ama, y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extraño.

Judah hath dealt unfaithfully, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the sanctuary of Jehovah which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

12 Q ue el Señor extermine de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hace esto (sea testigo o defensor) aunque presente una ofrenda al Señor de los ejércitos.

Jehovah will cut off from the tents of Jacob the man that doeth this, him that calleth and him that answereth; and him that offereth an oblation unto Jehovah of hosts.

13 “ Y esta otra cosa hacen: cubren el altar del Señor de lágrimas, llantos y gemidos, porque El ya no mira la ofrenda ni la acepta con agrado de su mano.

And further ye do this: ye cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, insomuch that he regardeth not the oblation any more, nor receiveth with satisfaction at your hand.

14 Y ustedes dicen: ‘¿Por qué?’ Porque el Señor ha sido testigo entre tú y la mujer de tu juventud, contra la cual has obrado deslealmente, aunque ella es tu compañera y la mujer de tu pacto.

Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because Jehovah hath been a witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt unfaithfully: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

15 P ero ninguno que tenga un remanente del Espíritu lo ha hecho así. ¿Y qué hizo éste mientras buscaba una descendencia de parte de Dios ? Presten atención, pues, a su espíritu; no seas desleal con la mujer de tu juventud.

And did not one make ? and the remnant of the Spirit was his. And wherefore the one? He sought a seed of God. Take heed then to your spirit, and let none deal unfaithfully against the wife of his youth,

16 “ Porque Yo detesto el divorcio,” dice el Señor, Dios de Israel, “y al que cubre de iniquidad su vestidura,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos. “Presten atención, pues, a su espíritu y no sean desleales.”

(for I hate putting away, saith Jehovah the God of Israel;) and he covereth with violence his garment, saith Jehovah of hosts: take heed then to your spirit, that ye deal not unfaithfully.

17 U stedes han cansado al Señor con sus palabras. Y dicen: “¿En qué Lo hemos cansado?” Cuando dicen: “Todo el que hace mal es bueno a los ojos del Señor, y en ellos El se complace; o: ¿Dónde está el Dios de la justicia ?”

Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words, and ye say, Wherein have we wearied ? In that ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of Jehovah, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
