1 “ Si alguien roba un buey o una oveja, y lo mata o vende, pagará cinco bueyes por el buey y cuatro ovejas por la oveja.

If a man steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it, he shall restore five oxen for the ox, and four sheep for the sheep.

2 “ Si el ladrón es sorprendido forzando una casa, y es herido y muere, no será homicidio.

If the thief be encountered breaking in, and be smitten so that he die, there shall be no blood-guiltiness for him.

3 P ero si ya ha salido el sol, será considerado homicidio. Ciertamente, el que roba debe hacer restitución. Si no tiene con qué, entonces será vendido por el valor de su robo.

If the sun be risen on him, there shall be blood-guiltiness for him; he should have made full restitution: if he had nothing, he would have been sold for his theft.

4 S i lo que robó, sea buey o asno u oveja, es hallado vivo en su posesión, pagará el doble.

If the stolen thing be actually found alive in his hand, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep, he shall restore double.

5 “ Si alguien deja que un campo o viña sea pastado totalmente, y deja suelto su animal para que paste en campo ajeno, hará restitución con lo mejor de su campo y con lo mejor de su viña.

If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and put in his cattle, and pasture in another man's field, of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make good.

6 “ Si estalla un incendio y se extiende a los espinos, de modo que las cosechas, amontonadas o en pie, o el campo mismo se consuman, el que encendió el fuego ciertamente hará restitución.

—If fire break out, and seize the thorns, and the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field be consumed, he that kindled the fire shall fully make it good.

7 “ Si alguien da a su vecino dinero o cosas a guardar, y son hurtados de la casa de éste, el ladrón, si es hallado, pagará el doble.

—If a man deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him restore double;

8 S i no es hallado el ladrón, entonces el dueño de la casa se presentará ante los jueces, para determinar si él metió la mano en la propiedad de su vecino.

if the thief be not found, the master of the house shall be brought before the judges, if he has not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.

9 E n toda clase de fraude, ya se trate de buey, de asno, de oveja, de ropa, o de cualquier cosa perdida, de la cual se pueda decir: ‘Esto es mío,’ la causa de ambos se llevará ante los jueces; y aquél a quien los jueces declaren culpable pagará el doble a su vecino.

As to all manner of fraud,—as to ox, as to ass, as to sheep, as to clothing, as to everything lost, of which saith, It is this—the cause of both parties shall come before the judges: he whom the judges shall condemn shall restore double to his neighbour.

10 “ Si alguien da a su vecino un asno, un buey, una oveja, o cualquier otro animal para ser guardado, y muere o sufre daño, o es robado sin que nadie lo vea,

If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any cattle, to keep, and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, and no man see,

11 l os dos harán juramento delante del Señor de que no metieron la mano en la propiedad de su vecino, y el dueño lo aceptará, y el otro no hará restitución.

an oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make good.

12 P ero si en verdad el animal le ha sido robado, hará restitución a su dueño.

But if it have been stolen from him, he shall make good unto its owner.

13 S i ha sido despedazado, que lo traiga como prueba. No hará restitución por lo que ha sido despedazado.

If it have been torn in pieces, let him bring it witness: he shall not make good what was torn.

14 “ Si alguien pide prestado un animal a su vecino, y el animal sufre daño o muere en ausencia de su dueño, hará completa restitución.

—And if a man borrow anything of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, its owner not being with it, he shall fully make it good;

15 S i el dueño está presente, no hará restitución. Si es alquilado, solamente pagará el alquiler. Leyes Diversas

if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make good; if it be a hired, it came for its hire.

16 “ Si alguien seduce a una doncella que no esté comprometida para casarse, y se acuesta con ella, deberá pagar una dote por ella para que sea su mujer.

And if a man seduce a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall certainly endow her, to be his wife.

17 Y si el padre rehúsa dársela, él pagará una cantidad igual a la dote de las vírgenes.

If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall weigh money according to the dowry of virgins.

18 “ No dejarás con vida a la hechicera.

—Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

19 “ A cualquiera que se eche con un animal, ciertamente se le dará muerte.

—Every one that lieth with a beast shall certainly be put to death.

20 “ El que ofrezca sacrificio a otro dios, que no sea el Señor, será destruido por completo.

—He that sacrificeth to god, save to Jehovah only, shall be devoted to destruction.

21 “ Al extranjero no maltratarás ni oprimirás, porque ustedes fueron extranjeros en la tierra de Egipto.

Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him; for ye have been strangers in the land of Egypt.

22 A la viuda y al huérfano no afligirán.

Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.

23 S i los afliges y ellos claman a Mí, ciertamente Yo escucharé su clamor,

If thou afflict him in any way, if he cry at all unto me, I will certainly hear his cry;

24 y se encenderá Mi ira y a ustedes los mataré a espada, y sus mujeres quedarán viudas y sus hijos huérfanos.

and my anger shall burn, and I will slay you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

25 “ Si prestas dinero a Mi pueblo, a los pobres entre ustedes, no serás usurero con él; no le cobrarás interés.

—If thou lend money to my people, the poor with thee, thou shalt not be to him as a usurer: ye shall charge him no interest.

26 S i tomas en prenda el manto de tu prójimo, se lo devolverás antes de ponerse el sol,

—If thou at all take thy neighbour's garment in pledge, thou shalt return it to him before the sun goes down;

27 p orque es su único abrigo; es el vestido para su cuerpo. ¿En qué otra cosa dormirá? Y será que cuando él clame a Mí, Yo le oiré, porque soy clemente.

for that is his only covering, his garment for his skin: on what shall he lie down? And it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

28 “ No maldecirás a Dios, ni maldecirás al príncipe de tu pueblo.

Thou shalt not revile the judges, nor curse a prince amongst thy people.

29 “ No demorarás la ofrenda de tu cosecha ni de tu vendimia. Me darás el primogénito de tus hijos.

—Thou shalt not delay the fulness of thy and the outflow of thy. The firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

30 L o mismo harás con tus bueyes y con tus ovejas. Siete días estará con su madre, y al octavo día Me lo darás.

Likewise shalt thou do with thy calf, with thy sheep: seven days shall it be with its dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

31 “ Ustedes serán hombres santos para Mí. No comerán carne despedazada por las fieras en el campo. A los perros la echarán.

—And ye shall be holy men unto me; and ye shall not eat flesh torn in the field: ye shall cast it to the dog.
