1 N o te alegres, Israel, con gran júbilo como las naciones, Porque te has prostituido, abandonando a tu Dios; Has amado el salario de ramera sobre todas las eras de trigo.

Rejoice not, Israel, exultingly, as the peoples; for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved harlot's hire upon every corn-floor.

2 N i la era ni el lagar los alimentarán, Y el vino nuevo les faltará.

The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail her.

3 N o permanecerán en la tierra del Señor, Sino que Efraín volverá a Egipto, Y en Asiria comerán cosas inmundas.

They shall not dwell in Jehovah's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and in Assyria shall they eat that which is unclean.

4 N o harán libaciones de vino al Señor, Ni Le serán gratos sus sacrificios. Su pan les será como pan de duelo, Todos los que lo coman se contaminarán, Porque su pan será sólo para ellos, No entrará en la casa del Señor.

They shall pour out no wine to Jehovah, neither shall their sacrifices be pleasing unto him: they shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be defiled: for their bread shall be for themselves; it shall not come into the house of Jehovah.

5 ¿ Qué harán el día de la fiesta señalada Y el día de la fiesta del Señor ?

What will ye do in the day of assembly, and in the day of the feast of Jehovah?

6 P ues, se irán a causa de la destrucción; Egipto los recogerá, Menfis los sepultará. La ortiga poseerá sus tesoros de plata; Cardos crecerán en sus tiendas.

For behold, they are gone away because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Moph shall bury them: their pleasant things of silver, nettles shall possess them; thorns shall be in their tents.

7 H an llegado los días del castigo, Han llegado los días de la retribución; ¡Que lo sepa Israel! Un insensato es el profeta, Un loco el hombre inspirado, A causa de la magnitud de tu culpa, Y por tu mucha hostilidad.

The days of visitation are come; the days of recompence are come: Israel shall know: the prophet is a fool, the inspired man is mad, because of the greatness of thine iniquity, and the great enmity.

8 V igía con mi Dios era Efraín, un profeta; Sin embargo el lazo de cazador está en todos sus caminos, Y en la casa de su Dios sólo hay hostilidad.

Is Ephraim a watchman with my God? the prophet is a fowler's snare on all his ways, enmity in the house of his God.

9 S e han corrompido profundamente Como en los días de Guibeá; El se acordará de su iniquidad, Castigará sus pecados.

They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

10 C omo uvas en el desierto hallé a Israel; Como las primicias de la higuera en su primera cosecha vi a sus padres. Pero fueron a Baal Peor y se consagraron a la vergüenza, Y se hicieron tan abominables como lo que amaban.

I found Israel as grapes in the wilderness; as first-ripe fruit on the fig-tree, I saw your fathers at the beginning: they went to Baal-Peor, and separated themselves unto that shame, and became abominations like their lover.

11 C omo un ave volará de Efraín su gloria: No habrá nacimiento, ni embarazo, ni concepción.

As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away as a bird,—no birth, no pregnancy, no conception!

12 A unque críen a sus hijos, Se los quitaré hasta que no quede hombre alguno. Sí, ¡ay de ellos también cuando de ellos Me aparte!

For even should they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, not a man: for woe also to them when I shall have departed from them!

13 E fraín, según he visto, Está como Tiro, plantado en pradera hermosa; Pero Efraín sacará a sus hijos al verdugo.

Ephraim, as I saw, was a Tyre planted in a beautiful place; but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the slayer.

14 D ales, oh Señor, ¿qué les darás? Dales matriz que aborte y pechos secos.

Give them, Jehovah—what wilt thou give?—give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15 T oda su maldad está en Gilgal; Allí, pues, los aborrecí. Por la maldad de sus hechos Los expulsaré de Mi casa, No los amaré más; Todos sus príncipes son rebeldes.

All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them: because of the wickedness of their doings, I will drive them out of my house, I will love them no more: all their princes are rebellious.

16 E fraín está herido, su raíz está seca; No darán más fruto. Aunque den a luz, Yo mataré el fruto de su vientre.

Ephraim is smitten: their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit; yea, though they should bring forth, yet will I slay the beloved of their womb.

17 M i Dios los desechará Porque no Lo han escuchado, Y andarán errantes entre las naciones.

My God hath rejected them, because they hearkened not unto him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
