Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ, to sojourners of dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 s egún el previo conocimiento de Dios Padre, por la obra santificadora del Espíritu, para obedecer a Jesucristo y ser rociados con Su sangre: Que la gracia y la paz les sean multiplicadas a ustedes. La Esperanza Viva del Cristiano

elect according to foreknowledge of God Father, by sanctification of Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

3 B endito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, quien según Su gran misericordia, nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo a una esperanza viva, mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo de entre los muertos,

Blessed the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through resurrection of Jesus Christ from among dead,

4 p ara obtener una herencia incorruptible, inmaculada, y que no se marchitará, reservada en los cielos para ustedes.

to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance, reserved in heavens for you,

5 M ediante la fe ustedes son protegidos (guardados) por el poder de Dios, para la salvación que está preparada para ser revelada en el último tiempo.

who are kept guarded by power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in last time.

6 E n lo cual ustedes se regocijan grandemente, aunque ahora, por un poco de tiempo si es necesario, sean afligidos con diversas pruebas (tentaciones),

Wherein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials,

7 p ara que la prueba de la fe de ustedes, más preciosa que el oro que perece, aunque probado por fuego, sea hallada que resulta en alabanza, gloria y honor en la revelación de Jesucristo;

that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in revelation of Jesus Christ:

8 a quien sin haber visto, ustedes Lo aman, y a quien ahora no ven, pero creen en El, y se regocijan grandemente con gozo inefable y lleno de gloria,

whom, having not seen, ye love; on whom not now looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with glory,

9 o bteniendo, como resultado de su fe, la salvación de sus almas.

receiving the end of your faith, salvation of souls.

10 A cerca de esta salvación, los profetas que profetizaron de la gracia que vendría a ustedes, diligentemente inquirieron y averiguaron,

Concerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out;

11 p rocurando saber qué persona o tiempo indicaba el Espíritu de Cristo dentro de ellos, al predecir los sufrimientos de Cristo y las glorias que seguirían.

searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which to Christ, and the glories after these.

12 A ellos les fue revelado que no se servían a sí mismos, sino a ustedes, en estas cosas que ahora les han sido anunciadas mediante los que les predicaron el evangelio (les anunciaron las buenas nuevas) por el Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo; cosas a las cuales los ángeles anhelan mirar. Exhortación a la Santidad

To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.

13 P or tanto, preparen su entendimiento para la acción. Sean sobrios en espíritu, pongan su esperanza completamente en la gracia que se les traerá en la revelación (la manifestación) de Jesucristo.

Wherefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, sober hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace brought to you at revelation of Jesus Christ;

14 C omo hijos obedientes, no se conformen a los deseos que antes tenían en su ignorancia,

as children of obedience, not conformed to former lusts in your ignorance;

15 s ino que así como Aquél que los llamó es Santo, así también sean ustedes santos en toda su manera de vivir.

but as he who has called you is holy, be ye also holy in all conversation;

16 P orque escrito está: “ Sean santos, porque Yo soy santo.”

because it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy.

17 Y si invocan como Padre a Aquél que imparcialmente juzga según la obra de cada uno, condúzcanse con temor (reverencia) durante el tiempo de su peregrinación.

And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,

18 U stedes saben que no fueron redimidos (rescatados) de su vana manera de vivir heredada de sus padres con cosas perecederas como oro o plata,

knowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from fathers,

19 s ino con sangre preciosa, como de un cordero sin tacha y sin mancha: la sangre de Cristo.

but by precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, of Christ,

20 P orque El estaba preparado desde antes de la fundación del mundo, pero se ha manifestado en estos últimos (en el fin de los) tiempos por amor a ustedes.

foreknown indeed before foundation of world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes,

21 P or medio de El son creyentes en Dios, que Lo resucitó de entre los muertos y Le dio gloria, de manera que la fe y esperanza de ustedes sean en Dios. Exhortación al Amor Fraternal

who by him do believe on God, who has raised him from among dead and given him glory, that your faith and hope should be in God.

22 P uesto que en obediencia a la verdad ustedes han purificado sus almas para un amor sincero de hermanos, ámense unos a otros entrañablemente, de corazón puro.

Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;

23 P ues han nacido de nuevo, no de una simiente corruptible, sino de una que es incorruptible, es decir, mediante la palabra de Dios que vive y permanece.

being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by living and abiding word of God.

24 P orque: “ Toda carne es como la hierba, y toda su gloria como la flor de la hierba. Secase la hierba, caese la flor,

Because all flesh as grass, and all its glory as flower of grass. The grass has withered and flower has fallen;

25 p ero la palabra del Señor permanece para siempre.” Esa es la palabra que a ustedes les fue predicada (anunciada como buenas nuevas).

but the word of Lord abides for eternity. But this is the word which in the glad tidings preached to you.
