1 » En aquel tiempo el Señor me dijo: “Lábrate dos tablas de piedra, como las primeras, y haz un cofre de madera para ellas. Sube luego al monte para encontrarte conmigo.

“At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Hew for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to Me on the mountain and make yourself an ark of wood.

2 Y o escribiré en esas tablas las palabras que estaban en las tablas que quebraste, las primeras; y luego tú las pondrás en el cofre.”

And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you shall put them in the ark.’

3 Y o hice un cofre de madera de acacia, y labré dos tablas de piedra, como las primeras, y con las dos tablas en la mano subí al monte.

“So I made an ark of acacia wood, hewed two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain, having the two tablets in my hand.

4 Y el Señor escribió en las tablas los diez mandamientos que les había dado en el monte, de en medio del fuego, el día de la asamblea. El Señor me dio las tablas, y su escritura era acorde con la primera.

And He wrote on the tablets according to the first writing, the Ten Commandments, which the Lord had spoken to you in the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly; and the Lord gave them to me.

5 C uando bajé del monte y volví, puse las tablas en el cofre que había hecho, y allí están, tal y como el Señor me lo ordenó.

Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark which I had made; and there they are, just as the Lord commanded me.”

6 ( Después los hijos de Israel partieron de Berot Bené Yacán a Mosera. Allí murió Aarón, y allí también fue sepultado, y en su lugar recibió el sacerdocio su hijo Eleazar.

(Now the children of Israel journeyed from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah, where Aaron died, and where he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered as priest in his stead.

7 D e allí partieron a Gudgoda, y de Gudgoda a Jotbata, región que tiene arroyos.

8 E n aquel tiempo el Señor apartó la tribu de Leví para que llevara el arca del pacto y para que estuvieran a su servicio, para honrarlo y para impartir bendiciones en su nombre, hasta el día de hoy.

At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister to Him and to bless in His name, to this day.

9 P or eso Leví no recibió ningún terreno en propiedad, como lo recibieron sus hermanos, pues el Señor tu Dios es su herencia, como él mismo lo dijo.)

Therefore Levi has no portion nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, just as the Lord your God promised him.)

10 » Yo estuve en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, como la primera vez; y esta vez el Señor también me escuchó, y ya no quiso destruirte.

“As at the first time, I stayed in the mountain forty days and forty nights; the Lord also heard me at that time, and the Lord chose not to destroy you.

11 A l contrario, el Señor me dijo: “Anda, levántate y marcha al frente del pueblo, para que pasen a tomar posesión de la tierra que a sus padres juré que les daría.” Lo que Dios exige

Then the Lord said to me, ‘Arise, begin your journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.’ The Essence of the Law

12 » Y ahora, Israel, ¿qué es lo que el Señor tu Dios pide de ti? Solamente que temas al Señor tu Dios, que vayas por todos sus caminos, y que ames y sirvas al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma;

“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

13 q ue cumplas sus mandamientos y estatutos, los cuales hoy te ordeno cumplir, para que tengas prosperidad.

and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?

14 F íjate bien: Los cielos, y los cielos de los cielos, y la tierra, y todas las cosas que hay en ella, son del Señor tu Dios.

Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God, also the earth with all that is in it.

15 S olamente de tus padres se agradó el Señor, y los amó, y de entre todos los pueblos escogió a su descendencia después de ellos, es decir, a ustedes, como hoy pueden verlo.

The Lord delighted only in your fathers, to love them; and He chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day.

16 A sí que circunciden el prepucio de su corazón, y no sigan siendo obstinados,

Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer.

17 p orque el Señor su Dios es Dios de dioses y Señor de señores; es Dios grande, poderoso y temible, que no hace acepción de personas ni acepta sobornos;

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.

18 q ue hace justicia al huérfano y a la viuda, y que ama también al extranjero y le da pan y vestido.

He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.

19 A sí que ustedes deben amar a los extranjeros, porque ustedes fueron extranjeros en Egipto.

Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

20 » Al Señor tu Dios temerás, y sólo a él servirás, y a él seguirás, y por su nombre jurarás.

You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him, and to Him you shall hold fast, and take oaths in His name.

21 É l es el objeto de tu alabanza; él es tu Dios, que ha hecho contigo todas estas cosas grandes y terribles, que con tus propios ojos has visto.

He is your praise, and He is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things which your eyes have seen.

22 C uando tus padres emigraron a Egipto, eran sólo setenta personas. Pero ahora el Señor ha hecho de ti un pueblo tan numeroso como las estrellas del cielo.

Your fathers went down to Egypt with seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven in multitude.
