1 D espués de eso, sucedió que David derrotó y humilló a los filisteos, y les arrebató la ciudad de Gat y sus villas.

After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.

2 T ambién derrotó a los moabitas, y los hizo sus esclavos y los obligó a pagarle tributo.

Then he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought tribute.

3 D errotó además en Jamat a Hadad Ezer, rey de Soba, cuando éste pretendía asegurar su dominio en la ribera del río Éufrates.

And David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his power by the River Euphrates.

4 D avid le quitó mil carros de guerra, siete mil soldados de caballería y veinte mil soldados de infantería, y además desjarretó a los caballos que tiraban todos los carros, con la excepción de los caballos para cien carros.

David took from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. Also David hamstrung all the chariot horses, except that he spared enough of them for one hundred chariots.

5 C uando los sirios vinieron de Damasco en ayuda de Hadad Ezer, rey de Soba, David hirió a veintidós mil de ellos;

When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians.

6 l uego puso una guarnición en Siria de Damasco, y obligó a los sirios a servirle y a pagarle tributo, pues el Señor le daba la victoria a David por dondequiera que iba.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought tribute. So the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

7 D avid se apoderó de los escudos de oro que llevaban los siervos de Hadad Ezer, y los llevó a Jerusalén.

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 T ambién se apoderó del mucho bronce que había en Tibejat y Cun, ciudades de Hadad Ezer, y con ese bronce hizo Salomón el mar de bronce, las columnas y los utensilios de bronce.

Also from Tibhath and from Chun, cities of Hadadezer, David brought a large amount of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and the articles of bronze.

9 C uando el rey Toy de Jamat supo que David había derrotado totalmente al ejército de Hadad Ezer, rey de Soba,

Now when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,

10 e nvió a su hijo Hadorán para que saludara a David y lo bendijera por haber peleado con Hadad Ezer y haberlo vencido. Como Toy estaba en guerra contra Hadad Ezer, le envió al rey David toda clase de utensilios de oro, plata y bronce,

he sent Hadoram his son to King David, to greet him and bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him (for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou); and Hadoram brought with him all kinds of articles of gold, silver, and bronze.

11 y el rey David dedicó todo esto al Señor, junto con la plata y el oro que les había quitado a todas las naciones de Edom, Moab, Amón, Filistea y Amalec.

King David also dedicated these to the Lord, along with the silver and gold that he had brought from all these nations—from Edom, from Moab, from the people of Ammon, from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12 A demás de esto, Abisay hijo de Seruyá derrotó en el valle de la Sal a dieciocho mil edomitas,

Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah killed eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

13 y puso una guarnición en Edom y obligó a todos los edomitas a servir a David, pues el Señor daba el triunfo a David por dondequiera que éste iba. Oficiales de David

He also put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went. David’s Administration

14 D avid llegó a ser rey de todo Israel, y gobernó con justicia y rectitud a todo su pueblo.

So David reigned over all Israel, and administered judgment and justice to all his people.

15 J oab hijo de Seruyá era el general de su ejército, y Josafat hijo de Ajilud era el canciller.

Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

16 S adoc hijo de Ajitob y Abimelec hijo de Abiatar eran sacerdotes, y Savsá era el secretario.

Zadok the son of Ahitub and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were the priests; Shavsha was the scribe;

17 B enaías hijo de Joyadá estaba al mando de los cretenses y peleteos, y los hijos de David eran los príncipes que rodeaban al rey.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers at the king’s side.
