1 D espués de catorce años, subí otra vez a Jerusalén con Bernabé, y también llevé conmigo a Tito.

Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.

2 P ero subí en obediencia a una revelación. Y para no correr, o para no haber corrido en vano, el evangelio que predico entre los no judíos lo expuse en privado a los que tenían cierta reputación.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain.

3 P ero ni siquiera Tito, que estaba conmigo, fue obligado a circuncidarse, aunque era griego;

Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

4 y esto a pesar de los falsos hermanos introducidos a escondidas, que entraban para espiar la libertad que tenemos en Cristo Jesús y para reducirnos a esclavitud,

And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage),

5 a los cuales ni por un momento accedimos a someternos, para que la verdad del evangelio permaneciera con ustedes.

to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

6 L os que tenían fama y reputación de ser algo (lo que hayan sido en otro tiempo nada me importa; Dios no hace acepción de personas ), no me comunicaron nada nuevo.

But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me.

7 P or el contrario, como vieron que me había sido encomendado el evangelio de la incircuncisión, como a Pedro el de la circuncisión

But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter

8 ( pues el que actuó en Pedro para el apostolado de los judíos, actuó también en mí para con los no judíos),

(for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles),

9 y como reconocieron la gracia que me había sido dada, Jacobo, Cefas y Juan, que eran considerados como columnas, nos dieron a mí y a Bernabé la diestra en señal de compañerismo, para que nosotros fuéramos a los no judíos, y ellos a los judíos.

and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

10 S olamente nos pidieron que nos acordáramos de los pobres; lo cual también procuré hacer con diligencia. Pablo reprende a Pedro en Antioquía

They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do. No Return to the Law

11 P ero cuando Pedro vino a Antioquía, me enfrenté a él cara a cara, porque lo que hacía era reprochable.

Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed;

12 P ues antes de que vinieran algunos de parte de Jacobo, comía con los no judíos; pero después que vinieron, se retraía y se apartaba, porque tenía miedo de los judíos.

for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.

13 Y en su simulación participaban también los otros judíos, de modo que hasta Bernabé fue arrastrado también por la hipocresía de ellos.

And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

14 P ero cuando vi que no andaban rectamente y conforme a la verdad del evangelio, dije a Pedro delante de todos: «Si tú, que eres judío, no vives como los judíos sino como los no judíos, ¿por qué obligas a los no judíos a hacerse judíos?»

But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?

15 N osotros somos judíos de nacimiento, y no pecadores salidos de los no judíos.

We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

16 S abemos que el hombre no es justificado por las obras de la ley sino por la fe de Jesucristo, y también hemos creído en Jesucristo, para ser justificados por la fe de Cristo y no por las obras de la ley, ya que por las obras de la ley nadie será justificado.

knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

17 Y si al buscar ser justificados en Cristo, también nosotros somos hallados pecadores, ¿será por eso Cristo ministro de pecado? ¡De ninguna manera!

“But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not!

18 P orque si las mismas cosas que destruí, las vuelvo a edificar, me hago transgresor.

For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

19 P orque yo, por la ley, soy muerto para la ley, a fin de vivir para Dios.

For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.

20 P ero con Cristo estoy juntamente crucificado, y ya no vivo yo, sino que Cristo vive en mí; y lo que ahora vivo en la carne, lo vivo en la fe del Hijo de Dios, el cual me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí.

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

21 N o desecho la gracia de Dios; pues si la justicia dependiera de la ley, entonces por demás habría muerto Cristo.

I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
