1 E ntonces el profeta Eliseo llamó a uno de los profetas y le dijo: «Cíñete la ropa, llévate esta redoma de aceite, y ve a Ramot de Galaad.

And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, “Get yourself ready, take this flask of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead.

2 A l llegar allá, irás a ver a Jehú, el hijo de Josafat y nieto de Nimsi. Cuando entres a su casa, haz que se levante de entre sus hermanos, y llévalo a otro cuarto.

Now when you arrive at that place, look there for Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, and go in and make him rise up from among his associates, and take him to an inner room.

3 T oma entonces la redoma de aceite y derrámala sobre su cabeza. Y dile: “Así dijo el Señor: Yo te he ungido para que reines sobre Israel.” Después de esto, abre la puerta y huye sin detenerte.»

Then take the flask of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’ Then open the door and flee, and do not delay.”

4 E l joven profeta se fue entonces a Ramot de Galaad.

So the young man, the servant of the prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.

5 A l llegar, encontró reunidos a los principales jefes del ejército, así que dijo: «Mi comandante, tengo un mensaje para usted.» Y Jehú dijo: «¿Para cuál de todos nosotros?» Y el profeta dijo: «Precisamente para usted, mi comandante.»

And when he arrived, there were the captains of the army sitting; and he said, “I have a message for you, Commander.” Jehu said, “For which one of us?” And he said, “For you, Commander.”

6 J ehú se levantó y entró en casa; entonces el profeta derramó el aceite sobre su cabeza y le dijo: «Así ha dicho el Señor, Dios de Israel: “Yo, el Señor, te he ungido para que reines sobre Israel, mi pueblo.

Then he arose and went into the house. And he poured the oil on his head, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I have anointed you king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.

7 V as a acabar con la dinastía de tu señor Ajab, para que yo vengue la sangre de todos mis siervos, incluidos los profetas, que Jezabel ha asesinado.

You shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, at the hand of Jezebel.

8 T oda la dinastía de Ajab será destruida. Acabaré en Israel con todos los varones de Ajab, lo mismo esclavos que libres.

For the whole house of Ahab shall perish; and I will cut off from Ahab all the males in Israel, both bond and free.

9 H aré con la dinastía de Ajab lo mismo que hice con la dinastía de Jeroboán hijo de Nabat y con la dinastía de Basá hijo de Ajías.

So I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.

10 A Jezabel se la comerán los perros en el campo de Jezrel, y no habrá nadie que la sepulte.”» Dicho esto, el profeta abrió la puerta y salió huyendo.

The dogs shall eat Jezebel on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. ’” And he opened the door and fled.

11 Y cuando Jehú salió, los oficiales de su amo le preguntaron: «¿Todo está bien? ¿Para qué vino a verte ese loco?» Y Jehú les dijo: «Ustedes ya saben cómo es esta gente, y las cosas que dicen.»

Then Jehu came out to the servants of his master, and one said to him, “ Is all well? Why did this madman come to you?” And he said to them, “You know the man and his babble.”

12 P ero ellos objetaron: «No nos mientas. Dinos qué te dijo.» Entonces él respondió: «Me dijo varias cosas. Entre ellas, me dijo: “Así ha dicho el Señor: Yo te he ungido para que reines sobre Israel.”»

And they said, “A lie! Tell us now.” So he said, “Thus and thus he spoke to me, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’”

13 E ntonces todos ellos tomaron de prisa su manto, y lo pusieron en un trono alto, debajo de Jehú; luego tocaron la trompeta y gritaron: «¡Jehú es rey!» Jehú mata a Jorán

Then each man hastened to take his garment and put it under him on the top of the steps; and they blew trumpets, saying, “Jehu is king!” Joram of Israel Killed

14 F ue así como Jehú, el hijo de Josafat y nieto de Nimsi, conspiró contra Jorán, que por causa del rey Jazael de Siria estaba con todos los israelitas protegiendo la ciudad de Ramot de Galaad,

So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had been defending Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, against Hazael king of Syria.

15 a unque había regresado a Jezrel para curarse las heridas que los sirios le habían hecho en la batalla contra el rey Jazael de Siria. Jehú dijo: «Si ustedes están de acuerdo, que nadie escape de la ciudad, para que la noticia no se sepa en Jezrel.»

But King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which the Syrians had inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, “If you are so minded, let no one leave or escape from the city to go and tell it in Jezreel.”

16 D icho esto, Jehú montó en su carro y se dirigió a Jezrel, donde Jorán yacía enfermo. Allí también estaba el rey Ocozías de Judá, que había ido a visitar a Jorán.

So Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was laid up there; and Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.

17 C uando el atalaya que estaba en la torre de Jezrel vio venir la tropa de Jehú, gritó: «¡Veo que se acerca una tropa!» Y Jorán dijo: «Manda a un jinete. Que los inspeccione y les pregunte en qué plan vienen.»

Now a watchman stood on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came, and said, “I see a company of men.” And Joram said, “Get a horseman and send him to meet them, and let him say, ‘ Is it peace?’”

18 E l jinete fue a inspeccionarlos, y les dijo: «El rey manda a decir si vienen en son de paz.» Y Jehú le respondió: «¿De qué paz me hablas? ¡Tú pásate a mis filas!» Entonces el atalaya dio aviso, y dijo: «El mensajero ha llegado hasta ellos, pero no veo que regrese.»

So the horseman went to meet him, and said, “Thus says the king: ‘ Is it peace?’” And Jehu said, “What have you to do with peace? Turn around and follow me.” So the watchman reported, saying, “The messenger went to them, but is not coming back.”

19 S e envió entonces a otro jinete, el cual llegó hasta ellos y dijo: «El rey manda a preguntar si vienen en son de paz.» Y Jehú también le respondió: «¿De qué paz me hablas? ¡Tú pásate a mis filas!»

Then he sent out a second horseman who came to them, and said, “Thus says the king: ‘ Is it peace?’” And Jehu answered, “What have you to do with peace? Turn around and follow me.”

20 E l atalaya volvió a dar aviso: «También el otro jinete llegó hasta ellos, pero no veo que regrese. Por la manera de conducir, me parece que quien viene en el carro es Jehú hijo de Nimsi, pues conduce como un loco.»

So the watchman reported, saying, “He went up to them and is not coming back; and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously!”

21 J orán ordenó entonces que prepararan su carro. Y cuando estuvo listo, partieron juntos el rey Jorán de Israel y el rey Ocozías de Judá, aunque cada uno en su carro, y fueron al encuentro de Jehú, al que hallaron en el campo que había pertenecido a Nabot de Jezrel.

Then Joram said, “Make ready.” And his chariot was made ready. Then Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot; and they went out to meet Jehu, and met him on the property of Naboth the Jezreelite.

22 C uando Jorán vio a Jehú, exclamó: «¿Vienes en son de paz, Jehú?» Y éste respondió: «¿Y qué paz puede haber, con tantas fornicaciones y hechicerías de tu madre Jezabel?»

Now it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, “ Is it peace, Jehu?” So he answered, “What peace, as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?”

23 E ntonces Jorán dio vuelta a su carro y emprendió la huida, mientras decía a Ocozías: «¡Nos han traicionado, Ocozías!»

Then Joram turned around and fled, and said to Ahaziah, “Treachery, Ahaziah!”

24 P ero Jehú tensó su arco y le clavó una flecha a Jorán por la espalda; y la saeta le salió por el corazón, y cayó muerto en su carro.

Now Jehu drew his bow with full strength and shot Jehoram between his arms; and the arrow came out at his heart, and he sank down in his chariot.

25 J ehú le dijo a Bidcar, su capitán: «Tómalo, y arrójalo en un extremo del campo que fue de Nabot de Jezrel. Acuérdate que cuando tú y yo íbamos juntos con la gente de Ajab, su padre, el Señor pronunció esta sentencia contra él, cuando dijo:

Then Jehu said to Bidkar his captain, “Pick him up, and throw him into the tract of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for remember, when you and I were riding together behind Ahab his father, that the Lord laid this burden upon him:

26 “ Yo, el Señor, vi ayer aquí la sangre de Nabot, y la sangre de sus hijos. Por eso aquí, en este campo, te daré tu merecido. Yo soy el Señor.” Así que, conforme a la palabra del Señor, tómalo y arrójalo en el que fue campo de Nabot.» Jehú mata a Ocozías

‘Surely I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will repay you in this plot,’ says the Lord. Now therefore, take and throw him on the plot of ground, according to the word of the Lord.” Ahaziah of Judah Killed

27 C uando el rey Ocozías de Judá vio esto, huyó por el camino de Bet Hagán, seguido de Jehú, que decía: «Hieran también a éste que va en el carro.» Y en la subida de Gur, junto a Ibleam, Ocozías fue herido. Por eso huyó a Meguido, donde murió.

But when Ahaziah king of Judah saw this, he fled by the road to Beth Haggan. So Jehu pursued him, and said, “Shoot him also in the chariot.” And they shot him at the Ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. Then he fled to Megiddo, and died there.

28 S us oficiales lo llevaron a Jerusalén en un carro, y allá, en la ciudad de David, lo sepultaron en su propio sepulcro, junto a sus antepasados.

And his servants carried him in the chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his tomb with his fathers in the City of David.

29 O cozías comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el undécimo año del reinado de Jorán hijo de Ajab. Muerte de Jezabel

In the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab, Ahaziah had become king over Judah. Jezebel’s Violent Death

30 D espués Jehú se fue a Jezrel, y cuando Jezabel lo supo, se pintó los ojos con antimonio y se atavió la cabeza, y se asomó a la ventana.

Now when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window.

31 E n el momento en que Jehú entró a la ciudad, ella gritó: «¿Cómo le va a Zimri, asesino de su rey?»

Then, as Jehu entered at the gate, she said, “ Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of your master?”

32 J ehú levantó la vista hacia la ventana, y dijo: «¿Hay alguien ahí que esté de mi parte?» Dos o tres eunucos se inclinaron hacia él,

And he looked up at the window, and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” So two or three eunuchs looked out at him.

33 y él les dijo: «¡Arrójenla al suelo!» Ellos la lanzaron por la ventana, y parte de su sangre salpicó la pared y los caballos, y Jehú la arrolló.

Then he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot.

34 L uego, entró y comió y bebió, y más tarde dijo: «Ahora vayan a ver a esa maldita mujer, y sepúltenla, pues es hija de un rey.»

And when he had gone in, he ate and drank. Then he said, “Go now, see to this accursed woman, and bury her, for she was a king’s daughter.”

35 P ero cuando fueron para sepultarla, no hallaron de ella más que la calavera, los pies y las palmas de las manos.

So they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands.

36 V olvieron entonces a decirle esto a Jehú, y él sentenció: «Ésta es la palabra de Dios, pronunciada por medio de su siervo, Elías el tisbita, cuando dijo: “En el campo de Jezrel los perros se comerán el cuerpo de Jezabel.

Therefore they came back and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel;

37 A llí, en el campo de Jezrel, el cuerpo de Jezabel será semejante al estiércol en el suelo, de modo que nadie podrá reconocerla.”»

and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, “Here lies Jezebel.”’”
