1 I o mi rifugio in te, o Eterno, fa che non sia mai confuso.

In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge: Let me never be put to shame.

2 P er la tua giustizia, liberami e scampami; tendi verso di me il tuo orecchio e salvami.

Deliver me in thy righteousness, and rescue me: Bow down thine ear unto me, and save me.

3 S ii per me una rocca di scampo, alla quale possa sempre venire; tu hai ordinato la mia salvezza, perché sei la mia rupe e la mia fortezza.

Be thou to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: Thou hast given commandment to save me; For thou art my rock and my fortress.

4 D IO mio, liberami dalla mano dell'empio, dalla mano del perverso e del violento.

Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

5 P oiché tu sei la mia speranza, o Signore, o Eterno, la mia fiducia fin dalla mia fanciullezza.

For thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovah: Thou art my trust from my youth.

6 T u sei stato il mio sostegno fin dal grembo di mia madre; sei tu che mi hai tratto dal grembo di mia madre; a te andrà sempre la mia lode.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb; Thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: My praise shall be continually of thee.

7 S ono diventato per molti come un prodigio, ma tu sei il mio forte rifugio.

I am as a wonder unto many; But thou art my strong refuge.

8 L a mia bocca è ripiena della tua lode, e proclama la tua gloria tutto il giorno.

My mouth shall be filled with thy praise, And with thy honor all the day.

9 N on rigettarmi nel tempo della vecchiaia; non abbandonarmi quando il mio vigore viene meno.

Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth.

10 P erché i miei nemici parlano contro di me, e quelli che sono in agguato alla mia vita complottano insieme,

For mine enemies speak concerning me; And they that watch for my soul take counsel together,

11 d icendo: «DIO l'ha abbandonato; inseguitelo e prendetelo, perché non c'è alcuno che lo liberi».

Saying, God hath forsaken him: Pursue and take him; for there is none to deliver.

12 O DIO, non allontanarti da me DIO mio, affrettati a soccorrermi.

O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me.

13 S iano confusi e vengano annientati gli avversari della mia vita; siano coperti d'infamia e di disonore quelli che desiderano farmi del male.

Let them be put to shame and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor that seek my hurt.

14 M a io spererò del continuo e ti loderò sempre di piú.

But I will hope continually, And will praise thee yet more and more.

15 L a mia bocca racconterà tutto il giorno la tua giustizia e le tue liberazioni, perché non ne conosco il numero.

My mouth shall tell of thy righteousness, And of thy salvation all the day; For I know not the numbers thereof.

16 M i addentrerò nelle potenti opere del Signore, dell'Eterno, e ricorderò la tua giustizia, la tua soltanto.

I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Jehovah: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

17 O DIO, tu mi hai ammaestrato fin dalla mia fanciullezza; e fino ad oggi io ho annunziato le tue meraviglie.

O God, thou hast taught me from my youth; And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

18 E anche ora che son diventato vecchio e canuto, o DIO, non abbandonarmi fino a che abbia raccontato la tua potenza a questa generazione e i tuoi prodigi a tutti quelli che verranno.

Yea, even when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not, Until I have declared thy strength unto the next generation, Thy might to every one that is to come.

19 A nche la tua giustizia, o DIO, giunge fino alle sommità dei cieli, tu hai fatto grandi cose, O DIO, chi è simile a te?

Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high; Thou who hast done great things, O God, who is like unto thee?

20 T u che mi hai fatto provare molte e gravi avversità, mi darai di nuovo la vita e mi farai risalire dagli abissi della terra.

Thou, who hast showed us many and sore troubles, Wilt quicken us again, And wilt bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

21 T u accrescerai la mia grandezza e ritornerai a consolarmi.

Increase thou my greatness, And turn again and comfort me.

22 E io ti loderò con l'arpa per la tua fedeltà o DIO mio, e canterò le tue lodi con la cetra, o Santo d'Israele.

I will also praise thee with the psaltery, Even thy truth, O my God: Unto thee will I sing praises with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.

23 L e mie labbra esulteranno quando canterò le tue lodi assieme alla mia anima, che tu hai riscattato.

My lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises unto thee; And my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

24 A nche la mia lingua parlerà tutto il giorno della tua giustizia, perché sono stati svergognati e sono stati confusi quelli che cercavano di farmi del male.

My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long; For they are put to shame, for they are confounded, that seek my hurt.
