1 P oi lo Spirito mi sollevò e mi trasportò alla porta orientale della casa dell'Eterno che guarda a est; ed ecco, all'Ingresso della porta c'Erano venticinque uomini, tra i quali vidi Jaazaniah, figlio di Azzur, e Pelatiah, figlio di Benaiah, capi del popolo.

Moreover the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of Jehovah's house, which looketh eastward: and behold, at the door of the gate five and twenty men; and I saw in the midst of them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

2 E gli mi disse: «figlio d'uomo, questi sono gli uomini che tramano il male e danno cattivi consigli in questa città.

And he said unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and that give wicked counsel in this city;

3 E ssi dicono: "Il tempo non è vicino. Edifichiamo case! Questa città è la pentola e noi siamo la carne".

that say, The time is not near to build houses: this city is the caldron, and we are the flesh.

4 P erciò profetizza contro di loro, profetizza, figlio d'uomo».

Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.

5 Q uindi lo Spirito dell'Eterno cadde su di me e mi disse: «Di Cosí dice l'Eterno: Voi dite cosí, o casa d'Israele, e io conosco le cose che vi passano per la mente.

And the Spirit of Jehovah fell upon me, and he said unto me, Speak, Thus saith Jehovah: Thus have ye said, O house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.

6 V oi avete moltiplicato quelli da voi trafitti a morte in questa città e avete riempito di uccisi le sue strade».

Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.

7 P erciò cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «I vostri uccisi che avete ammucchiato in mezzo ad essa sono la carne e questa città è la pentola, ma io vi farò uscire dal suo mezzo.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron; but ye shall be brought forth out of the midst of it.

8 V oi avete paura della spada, e io farò venire su di voi la spada», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring the sword upon you, saith the Lord Jehovah.

9 « Io vi farò uscire dal suo mezzo, vi darò in mano di stranieri ed eseguirò su di voi i miei giudizi.

And I will bring you forth out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

10 V oi cadrete di spada, vi giudicherò sui confini d'Israele; allora riconoscerete, che io sono l'Eterno.

Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

11 Q uesta città non sarà per voi una pentola e voi non sarete la carne nel suo mezzo; io vi giudicherò sui confini d'Israele.

This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; I will judge you in the border of Israel;

12 A llora riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno, perché non avete camminato nei miei statuti né avete eseguito le mie leggi, ma avete agito secondo le leggi delle nazioni che vi circondano».

and ye shall know that I am Jehovah: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither have ye executed mine ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you.

13 O r avvenne che, mentre io profetizzavo, Pelatiah, figlio di Benaiah, morí. Allora mi gettai con la faccia a terra e gridai ad alta voce, dicendo: «Ah, Signore, Eterno, vuoi distruggere completamente il residuo d'Israele?».

And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord Jehovah! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?

14 A llora la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

15 « Figlio d'uomo, i tuoi fratelli, i tuoi stessi parenti, quelli con te redenti e tutta la casa d'Israele sono coloro ai quali gli abitanti di Gerusalemme hanno detto: Allontanatevi pure dall'Eterno; questo paese ci è stato dato in eredità.

Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel, all of them, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from Jehovah; unto us is this land given for a possession.

16 P erciò di Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Benché io li abbia allontanati fra le nazioni e li abbia dispersi in paesi stranieri, io sarò per loro per un po' di tempo un santuario nei paesi dove sono andati.

Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they are come.

17 P erciò di Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Vi raccoglierò fra i popoli, vi radunerò dai paesi in cui siete stati dispersi e vi darò la terra d'Israele.

Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

18 E ssi vi ritorneranno e toglieranno via tutte le sue cose esecrande e tutte le sue abominazioni.

And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.

19 E io darò loro un altro cuore e metterò dentro di loro un nuovo spirito toglierò via dalla loro carne il cuore di pietra e darò loro un cuore di carne,

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh;

20 p erché camminino nei miei statuti e osservino le mie leggi e le mettano in pratica; allora essi saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro DIO.

that they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

21 M a quanto a quelli il cui cuore esegue le loro cose esecrande e le loro abominazioni, farò ricadere sul loro capo la loro condotta», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord Jehovah.

22 P oi i cherubini spiegarono le loro ali e le ruote si mossero accanto a loro, e la gloria del DIO d'Israele stava in alto su di loro.

Then did the cherubim lift up their wings, and the wheels were beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

23 L a gloria dell'Eterno si alzò dal mezzo della città e si fermò sul monte che è ad est della città.

And the glory of Jehovah went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

24 Q uindi lo Spirito mi sollevò e mi trasportò in Calde fra quelli che erano in cattività, in una visione per lo Spirito di DIO, e la visione che avevo visto scomparve davanti a me levandosi in alto;

And the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

25 e io riferii a quelli che erano in cattività tutte le cose che l'Eterno mi aveva fatto vedere.

Then I spake unto them of the captivity all the things that Jehovah had showed me.
