1 I nfatti ogni sommo sacerdote, preso fra gli uomini, è costituito per gli uomini nelle cose che riguardano Dio, per offrire doni e sacrifici per i peccati;

For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

2 c osí egli può usare compassione verso gli ignoranti e gli erranti, poiché è circondato anch'egli di debolezza,

who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity;

3 e a motivo di questa è obbligato ad offrire sacrifici per i peccati, tanto per se stesso che per il popolo.

and by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

4 E nessuno si prende da se stesso questo onore, ma lo riceve colui che è chiamato da Dio, come Aaronne.

And no man taketh the honor unto himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron.

5 C osí anche Cristo non si prese da sé la gloria di diventare sommo sacerdote, ma la ricevette da colui che gli disse: «Tu sei mio Figlio, oggi io ti ho generato»,

So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee:

6 e altrove dice: «Tu sei sacerdote in eterno, secondo l'ordine di Melchisedek»

as he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek.

7 N ei giorni della sua carne, con grandi grida e lacrime, egli offrí preghiere e supplicazioni a colui che lo poteva salvare dalla morte, e fu esaudito a motivo del suo timore di Dio.

Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

8 B enché fosse Figlio, imparò l'ubbidienza dalle cose che soffrí,

though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered;

9 e , reso perfetto, divenne autore di salvezza eterna per tutti coloro che gli ubbidiscono,

and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation;

10 e ssendo da Dio proclamato sommo sacerdote, secondo l'ordine di Melchisedek,

named of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

11 n ei riguardi del quale avremmo molte cose da dire, ma difficili da spiegare, perché voi siete diventati lenti a capire.

Of whom we have many things to say, and hard of interpretation, seeing ye are become dull of hearing.

12 I nfatti, mentre a quest'ora dovreste essere maestri, avete di nuovo bisogno che vi s'insegnino i primi elementi degli oracoli di Dio, e siete giunti al punto di aver bisogno di latte e non di cibo solido.

For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.

13 C hiunque infatti usa il latte non ha esperienza della parola di giustizia, perché è ancora un bambino;

For every one that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe.

14 i l cibo solido invece è per gli adulti, che per l'esperienza hanno le facoltà esercitate a discernere il bene dal male.

But solid food is for fullgrown men, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.
